I’m talking, of course, about “Barry”. Anyone else digging this show? I was surprised not to find a thread.
I’m really digging it. I’m a big Bill Hader fan. I watched each episode as it came up for the first season, but I’m a little behind this season. I’ve only watched the first five episodes this year so far and it’s just getting better and better. I laugh my balls off. NoHo Hank is my favorite character on the TeeVee right now.
Pretty sure there’s a season 2 thread somewhere around here.
I thought it was fantastic. Loved Barry raging out on everybody as he hunts down Fuches for his revenge.
Will be interesting to see his teacher’s reaction next season.
I love how Sally has shown great artistic integrity, passing on a bigtime TV producer’s show, but still displays a hilariously facepalm-inducing tendency to be self-absorbed: like when she interrupted her own–amazing–monologue to wonder if she was the voice of a movement.
I need to re-watch the last episode, but when did Sally decide to change the scene with her ex? Because originally, he’s the one to push the chair over, yell at her and threaten her, but in the big show, she changed to a female empowerment message, where she flipped the chair over and asserted herself. It seemed to be a surprise to Barry but he wasn’t all there, so he may have missed when she told him that’s what she planned.
The thread is for both seasons:

As for Sally’s scene: I don’t think she had planned to be the aggressor (knocking over the table and given the defiant speech). I think she was just reacting in the moment to Barry’s rather absentee performance. Once she slapped him backstage, that seemed to set her on the path toward the “empowerment” version.
Right, exactly.
That’s weird that I couldn’t find the Barry thread either on Google or on the site’s search. I guess it’s just a common name that comes up too often. (I don’t know if I tried adding “HBO”.)
