I hope Florida wins – by virtue of a questionable call. In the end zone. In overtime… And then Miami fans can buy Florida fans a beer, which is surely one of the signs of the coming Apocalypse.
I’ll start watching when I get home, although I don’t expect a good game and probably won’t stick with it. I don’t like Ohio State and I loathe their “THE Ohio State University” crap - it might be more annoying than “The U” for U. of Miami, if such a thing is possible. I don’t really want to watch them win.
I’m not into it enough to watch, but I admit to rooting for Florida over Ohio, even though I live in Ohio.
But Florida’s an SEC team - and since it’s not Tennessee, I have to go with the SEC team.
I’m a Seminole Fan (my cousin was an Offensive Tackle for the Garnet and Gold from 88-93) raised by an Ohio native, so I have to say…
GO BUCKEYES!!
this highly annoys my Gator fan husband, but oh well…
More likely trying to snort the goal line.
If he’d stayed in school, and had a redshirt year, he’d be playing tonight. But he’s neither the first nor last supremely talented athlete (from the neck down) to piss it away, sadly.
I have 2 strikes on me - a big football fan, *and * grew up in Columbus. I’m as round on the ends and hi in the middle as anyone around here (I try not to be round in the middle too, but you know). Besides, I work with a bunch of Florida graduates, and it’s fun to cheese 'em off.
I’d like to watch a bit of it, but I don’t have cable and my TV doesn’t get the Fox broadcast signal, so I’ll probably just hear part of it on the radio.
FWIW: everything I’ve read and heard says that Ohio State has a very high rate of fans who are willing/able to travel. I don’t think the 2-week jump on reservations made much of a difference in how many people attended. I know quite a few people who have attended bowl games in the past but didn’t go this year because it was too expensive or the tour packages were too vague as to what they included. But there are always more who are willing to step up instead.
Today’s Columbus Dispatch reports that an estimated 35,000 Buckeye fans attended a pep rally last night. There are loads of former Ohioans who live in Arizone, but there are also loads who traveled (a couple of airlines added flights to Phoenix just for the occasion).
I’m more a bemused bystander than a fan, but still…
Go Bucks!
GT
P.S. for Trunk: Maurice Clarett is possibly the least popular person in the state of Ohio. I just think it’s sad that an obviously bright bright guy screwed up his entire life so thoroughly.
Let’s say Florida wins this game somehow.
Who’s the national champion then? Boise State’s undefeated and beat Oklahoma, Florida knocked off Ohio State and USC spanked Michigan.
I think it almost has to be Boise State.
:dubious:
By rule, UF is the champion if they beat OSU. Unless the AP decides to get frisky.
How? Florida with one loss is ranked above Boise State. #9 beating #7 is not going to top #2 edging #1. As much as I would love to give it to Boise State should your scenario occur, I can’t see any pollster voting anyone but the winner of today’s game as #1.
Yeah, and technically LSU were the 2003 National Champions, but USC claims that title as well.
Winning the BCS title game doesn’t always make you national champion. And if OSU loses to Florida, I don’t see how you can make the argument that Florida gets the title when there are at least three other contenders.
God, do we need a playoff.
Is it too late to make predictions? I’m about ready to go with OSU over Florida 98-94 at this point …
So far, FL is smacking OSU in the face, but OSU seems to be finding a defensive groove.
LSU won the BCS title, and that gave them the coaches poll. USC won the AP poll. I don’t see too many voters picking Boise over Florida when Florida came out of a tougher conference and beat the team that was #1 in the country all year. Assuming it happens.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand Florida goes up on OSU 34-14 at the half.
Wow.
As a Michigan fan, I’m loving every minute of this. I had no idea Florida was this good. I really should start watching more SEC games.
I predicted a Florida victory in on of the early Bowl Game threads. The SEC is a great football conference. They oughta dispense with the BCS and just recognize the SEC Champion as the National Champ every year
No kidding. I’ll be eating crow after this game is over. I didn’t think Florida had a shot in hell, but it looks like, barring a miracle, Florida should come away with the national championship. At any rate, this is definitely the more interesting finish to the season…
Ouch. It ain’t lookin’ good for the boys from the Buckeye State.
I’m watching on DVR, and at this point, I’d call a Florida win.
Playoff! Playoff! Playoff! Playoff!
I was pretty sad about Michigan’s choke in the Rose Bowl this year, but seeing all those OSU fans in tears… well, it’s warming this poster’s heart.
