I’m a little surprised not to see any sort of thread about this one yet.
We went on Friday and really enjoyed it. The animation was outstanding. The story line was fairly entertaining, although the mix of Mexican and American accents was at times odd enough to pull me out of the movie a bit. And I admit I don’t know enough about Mexican lore to know how accurate some of the details regarding the Day of the Day were. Nevertheless, thumbs up all around.
So, what did you think?
We liked it well enough, but the casting is… weird. I can’t imagine who thought it made sense to cast Ice Cube as the benevolent sun/god/whatever. Thankfully that was just a small part.
I really liked it. I thought it was probably one of the boost gorgeous movies I’ve ever seen, especially once they got to the land of the remembered.
I’ll echo some other posts. It’s gorgeous. The casting is a bit weird. I always wonder why so many animated movies insist on throwing in jokes that will be dated almost instantly.
Oh, and Chuy is the cutest pig ever.
