The Boys S2 (Open Spoilers)

That guy has been comedy gold.

I know there’s a spoiler rule about the comics so I won’t reveal anything but as someone who has read the comics I have to say this show is so much better than the books. Both with the big things—theme, plot, etc—and the little things.

The little characterizations, especially the Deep and Black Noir, are just brilliant. They have built full interesting characters out of very little in the source material.

And Homelander on the show is so well written and performed. He’s terrifying.

Did you catch Starr’s previous role on “Banshee”. Because if you haven’t, you need too.

I’m guessing black noir isn’t a clone like in the comics either.

I’m told that that was a spoiler, so I’ve put it in spoiler tags. Please remember, everyone, not to spoil other works (including other works related to the one under discussion).

Thanks Chronos. We agreed (or it was decreed) that open spoilers for the show are ok, but that potential spoilers from the comic it is based on should not be brought into the discussion without spoiler tags.

my mistake. thanks for covering that

That was all kinds of awesome.

So what was Denethor doing as Éomer dad? So confusing. John Noble is just always awesome, isn’t he?

Should be a great final episode next week.

Australian. Very, very Australian.

Huh? Karl Urban may be from New Zealand, but both the comic and show Billy Butcher are British:

Billy Butcher | The Boys Wiki | Fandom (note, probably has spoilers for the comics, but the first few sentences say he’s from London’s East End.

The characters are meant to have Cockney accents, I believe.

And having googled it, John Noble is actually Australian. I honestly had no idea.

that was a good episode.

Did stormfront die? If she can withstand bullets and being beaten by other superheroes, why does a normal person stabbing them in the eye hurt them?

Also way to resolve who was behind the head explosion issue.

And I thought I read they cut that scene with homelander at the end, I thought the director said they couldn’t get that scene into the series

“That’s hurtful.”

Perhaps, but neither of them sound remotely “Cockney” to my ears, whereas both sound very Australian. I mean, they’d stand out on an episode of EastEnders like a sore thumb. To be fair, Noble could be seen to be channelling a bit of Albert Steptoe in his performance.

I did wonder how an Australian joined the SAS but I assumed it was a Commonwealth thing.

Any translation on what Crispy Kraut was saying?

“Do you remember the day when Chloe stretched her arms out of the car window. We found the perfect spot on the river in the shadow of an apple tree.It was the first time…that Chloe ate (can’t hear what, but something ‘fresh’).”

That last bit is difficult t hear since homelander is now talking to Ryan.

Great, great season finale. Loved the final interaction between Butcher & Ryan.

“Now remember what I told ya.”

“Don’t be a cunt.”

It’s really tough not to feel bad for the Deep.

I’m assuming they left Stormfront’s final status ambiguous to keep her available for the next season, if they find a reason to bring her back.

In the scene between Butcher & his father, he said he took Butcher to every match in the Ashes 83 World Cup, including “Leeds, Old Trafford”, both of which are in England. True, they could have traveled from Australia to see them, but Billy also pointed out that his father would meet up with his mates at those matches, so the simplest explanation is just that this Billy is British, just like the comic book.

Yeah, I concede that it would make more sense. But I still think they sound Australian.

Very satisfying Season Finale! They definitely nailed the landing for this season.

Though it seemed like Lil Homelander’s attack addled her brain (hence her just saying something in German over and over). And it seemed like a lot of her powers came through her hands… which aren’t there anymore.

I enjoyed how the politics of it all screwed over The Deep. To be fair, Stormlander’s Naziism got A-Train kicked off, so to cover the PR, they should hire him back.

I did not expect the Congresswoman to be a Supe. I wonder what her goal was. Popping the heads of all the people in the commission just made it more likely that Compound V would be distributed all over the place. Or was that her goal to disperse Vought’s power? Or has she secretly worked for Mr. Edgar all this time?
