The Boys S3

Their name is kinda limiting. I think it’s weirdly the kind of incongruity found in real life that the characters would refer to from time to time, so maybe they should leave it in. One day Homelander shouts “We’ll get another member when I’m good and ready!” at someone, then burns his head off. After that it won’t come up so often anymore.

Huh? I thought that was her power?

How does the fact that there are two actors set up anything? Like, I don’t think James Earl Jones voicing Vader had plot significance.

Looks like I was right.

According to show runner Eric Kripke:

You’re saying that having a different actor in the flashback is evidence that the current Noir actor will play a different character that assumes the Noir persona? I don’t see the logic. Hmm, that article did come out a while before you made that speculation.

If you want two separate Noirs, and you only need one of them for a couple of flashback episodes, it makes sense to hire a different actor for the flashback episodes and use the actor you’ve been working with for 3 seasons to go forward with the “new” Noir.

Makes sense to me. Otherwise you end up firing the actor who had been playing him just to bring in a new actor.

The assumption is that Noir B is going to show his face a lot?

I guess if your first thought of seeing a young Noir’s face is “aha, this must be so they can keep the original Noir on as a different character!” I applaud your reasoning skills. I’d have just assumed that actor was more charismatic and the original Noir was hired for his physicality.

Or maybe Noir 2.0 will be closer to the comics.

They’ve also said we havent seen the last of Maeve. Im not a fan. Lets move some stuff forward.

They could easily just barrel to the end now and adapt the comics. I hope they dont though. They’ve done really well to flesh people out.

I wish Noir had survived to join the Boys because he hates both Soldier Boy and Homelander. His story had just gotten good too. Maybe they can transplant some dead super’s intestines into his body to bring him back like they did with A-Train’s heart.

I understand Blue Hawk isn’t using his intestines lately.

Just clean out the gravel and Bob(by Singer)’s your uncle (which will be the next big twist).

You know, with the not at all subtle satirizing that has gone on this season, with Homelander tapping into that conservative cult mentality and Vought News Network playing Fox News, I wonder if the conservative watchers of the show are rooting for Homelander out of habit.

Um, as evidenced in the last episode, Starlight grows stronger in bright light. Hughie specifically turned up all the lights in the studio to make her more powerful. There was even a comment when they were locked in the vault about turning off the breakers so she’d be powerless.

It’s supposed to be electricity that she drains, not light, and Huey powered her up by sending more electricity to the room. In season 2 we saw her drain the electricity from security cameras to turn them off.

Why this didn’t really come up during her fight with electricity-wielding Stormfront, I dunno.

So what shoots out of her eyes and hands if it’s not light?

Light or plasma, according to the wiki. I can’t remember the exact quote, but paraphrased it was “Electricity goes in, light comes out”.

When I first saw it, I wished that they had killed off Maeve permanently. But then I read later that they specifically wanted to avoid the Bury Your Gays trope.

I get where they are coming from now, but I still think the story would have been better if she had died permanently, trope or not. The “happy ending” just seemed out of place for the series.

The series hasn’t ended, though.

They kinda made it seem that Maeve and her gf would go off and live happily ever after.

Good point, though. The series hasn’t ended. There’s still plenty of time for her to die a horrible gruesome death or some such.

It just occurred to me…this must be the first adaptation where I havent heard a GGDF of a complaint about race/sex swapping in the last 22 years. And therefore, I haven’t heard any toxic responses* from creators. I’m sure they have to be out there, but I haven’t seen them. OR maybe all the emphasis is on the political satire and no one spent any animosity points on sex/race swapping.

By the way, if anyone thinks the creators are too heavy-handed in slamming The Right…

Neumann is supposed to be based on AOC? uhhh…

Homelander is Trump? Well the creators made me sympathize with their Trump stand-in. Especially when they showed him as a baby.

And then there’s the take-down of that dumb Girl power scene in Endgame.

*Warranted or not.
