Well I was kind of right. Sage gave Kimiko the ability to strip supers of their powers.

However I know the worlds smartest supe is only as smart as the writers. But why didn’t Sage just find a way to take away her own powers if she hated them so much? She could’ve easily engineered a way to remove her super intellect, as proven by her giving Kimiko the powers to strip supes of their powers.

Also I’m sure Sage could’ve not only made V1, but she could’ve made something that reversed compound V, or created a virus that killed supes. She was smart enough that she could’ve found a better way to take away her own powers other than doing self lobotomies.

Also, if someone is super smart, they should be able to figure out a way to manipulate their own emotions so they are happy all the time. Either by inventing drugs or new psychotherapies.

That ending was anti-climactic.

This season spent way too much time and energy setting up Vought Rising and the characters from Gen V were wasted. I also would have preferred both Homelander and the Deep stay alive without powers and have to live with their pathetic selves. Not a terrible finale but not great.

There were quite a few bits that didn’t make much sense if you thought about them too much.

I mostly liked the season, but the final episode started getting a tad schmaltzy for my taste.

I know. What did they even do? Show up (with some info for Starlight?), get told off by Starlight, then come back, give Starlight an underwhelming but in-universe-impassioned speech to convince Starlight to believe in herself, and then…?

They set it up in Gen V like whatshername (blood powers girl) was going to be integral to defeating Homelander, but then she didn’t actually do anything.

Honestly, the series finale was kind of meh. It just sort of happened, and that was it.

I think the problem was Gen V rather than The Boys. They very obviously could not have a character from a different show come on and be like “I’m stronger than Homelander, rawr!” and defeat the big bad that way. Nah, the problem was 100% Gen V setting her up as this chosen one that could defeat homelander, when he isn’t even their own bad guy. They should have just contained that show to Godolkin as the big bad and her as a powerful healer that he needed.

I was 100% sure that Soldier Boy deactivated the V1 by putting it in the chest blast he used to depower BombSite…until it wasn’t what happened.

I agree that Sage was largely wasted as a character. She could have done so much more. A V1-style drug that slowly mutated and depowered HL and most of the other supes would have been perfect. Or some sort of set-up that doesn’t involve killing some large percentage of the US population.

I thought the defeat of OhFather was also kind of idiotic as well and then of course wondered if that was VP Two-Face’s plan.

In the end, it was an OK ending. Not terrible, but not as satisfying as I would have liked.

Does Kimiko having a vision of Frenchie giving her a pep talk count as Deus ex Machina?

We can only wish a similar denouement could occur in IRL USA (at the risk of bringing politics into a CS thread).

I mean, it’s certainly not GoT8 bad. It doesn’t undo the best parts of the series or the characters at least. It’s not offensively bad. But that’s about the nicest thing I can say.

Hey, this way there’s a chance for a (n other) spin-off series that has Kimiko globbe-trotting to depower Supes who are just done.

I feel like the only person who liked it. It feels it more ranges from tolerated to hated. It was not perfect but my standards are really low. I was entertained, I’m amused by the fallout, the show itself was properly wrapped up, it didn’t linger like Supernatural. Generally, I can’t think of many series finales I genuinely liked. Too often they’re too busy finishing things that take priority over an actual story. This at least had a story and closure, but also not completely finality on what might happen years down the road in this world.

Mrs. Mahaloth and I liked the entire season and enjoyed the ending.

It was great. There is something very satisfying about seeing a pathetic, powerless Homelander. I wish he had not had his power for longer than 1 minute. It was terrific.

Man, Outlander aired its last episode about a week ago. Now, we lost The Boys.

We need more stuff!

Yeah, For me the better ending would be if he was immortal but lost all his powers, and spent centuries in prison. That would’ve been a more just ending than being beaten up for a minute.

Thing is, Avatar The Last Airbender did this. I’d been saying the whole time to my life that they won’t leave him powerless. He has to die.

I’m glad he did, but I think it would have been interesting to go on a little longer with him being totally wiped of powers.

I liked the ending for the most part, most things were resolved in a satisfactory manner. The only thing that bothers me is that it is basically a reset to the season 1 status quo, minus homelander. Which kinda leaves you feeling like Butcher was right.
