"The" Bubbadog is dead

Not me. I’m actually doing quite well.

But my best four legged buddy in the world, Bubba, had to be put down.

Its been two weeks and I miss the big guy a lot.

In our lives we get to know people that make us better persons just for knowing them. You don’t expect that effect from a dog but I gotta say, I’m a better person for having known Bubba.

OK I, have to stop typing. Getting all misty.

I’ve learned so much from companion animals. I know what you mean.

I’m sorry for your grief. RIP, Bubba.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Sending supporting thoughts your way.

I’m sorry to hear that. May I ask what breed he was?

I so miss the companionship of a good, loving, protective, intelligent dog. Ain’t nuthin’ in the world that matches up quite like it.

I know you’re no where near ready yet. It may take month or even years. But I do hope at some point down the road that you come back in here and start a thread, something along the lines of “Why does puppy breath always smell the same and how come it stinks so good?”

Oh, man…I’m so sorry!

Oh, I’m so sorry. Good night, Bubba. You were a good dog.

So true. It’s a fine tribute to a good dog, to love another one.

I’ve instructed Bitz the Wondermutt to say hello and give him some playtime when she sees him.

I’m sorry for your loss. A good dog teaches us as least as much as we teach them, and the place they take in our hearts remains theirs forever.

Bubba was a Golden Retriever. Like most of that breed he was very empathetic and expressive. He could sense my bad mood and would give me my space and was right there in front of me if I was sad.

His one funny quirk, he would not lick people. You could get your face right down in front of him, kiss him on the nose and that ol tongue would never come out. Always a gentleman.

Thanks for the kind thoughts everybody.

I’m sorry for your loss :frowning:

Mrs. BD is already working on that. I’m trying to stall her for at least a few months. She works for the local school district and puppy raising is best if it starts out as a full time job when school is out.

Also, I kind of need the extra time. While Mrs. BD was most certainly heartbroken she got to stay home while I tended to that most somber task of petting the dog while he was being put down. So I’m a little shy right now about making the emotional investment. I’ve done that chore too many times.

I need to mention, our sadness is balanced by the fact that Bubba was just a few months short of his 13th birthday. According to our vet that’s an equivalent human lifespan in the 90’s for a large breed pedigree. He led a long a happy life.

I’m sorry. Goldens are wonderful. There’s another one that I am missing dreadfully, who I was supposed to see in August but now won’t, for good but very sad reasons.

I’m sorry to hear that, BubbaDog. Sending warm thoughts and skritches your way…

We lost our beloved Yorkie last January and wow, the depth of the grief really surprised me. Sending healing thoughts your way.

I’m sorry to hear that. God, that sucks. :frowning:

Hats off to both of you.

Oh, Bubba, how very, very sad.

So sorry to hear that. Makes me look at my own Bubba (a 7 year old St-Bernard) and making me realize that he is probably be going soon (hopefully not that soon, knock on wood). :(:(:frowning:

To Bubba dogs everywhere.
