Well, I suppose there’s a lot of cross-pollination going on in all directions. Not that the CoJCoLDS is in any way being informed or instructed by Western Libertarianism or Bundy batshittery, but many lay Mormons might be.
There is also the whole yelling of “if you’re going to shoot me, do it”. How many people would yell that if they are peacefully surrendering? Seems to me that goes hand-in-hand with suicide by cop. Yell that, reach for the real gun at your side…you get your wish.
Nope! We, the US, got it fair and square from Great Britain in the Oregon Treaty. Oregon Treaty - Wikipedia :dubious::dubious:
I think Great Britain counts as “whites” (which I’m pretty sure you knew as indicated by the smileys).
That was certainly not the behavior of someone trying to surrender. He could have stayed in the vehicle with his hands on the wheel, or exited the vehicle slowly with his hands raised and stayed still. Running around flailing your arms looks like someone trying to fake-surrender so they can escape or get a shot off.
In any case, Finicum said repeatedly that he would rather die than be arrested. Ironically, his supporters are besmirching his memory by claiming he was so cowardly as to attempt to surrender.
Yeah, there’s no proof he was going for a gun, although I’m convinced he was. His arms clearly go down and his right arm reaches across his body (I believe to draw a gun but we don’t have proof yet). Bundy supporters are claiming that he had his hands up and brought them down because he was stumbling. But when you stumble in the snow, do your hands go down and inward and across your body to help you regain balance? No, you do this when you stumble, not this.
Boy, I’d hate to think what sort of harassment and actual personal danger those grand jurors are going to be put through.
Only the foreperson’s signature appears on indictments. Under the circumstances, might be the names of the others will be kept under seal.
Hard to tell. I get the impression that they generally believe something like it. It is supposed to be in D&C #88, but I was not able to tease it out. I only got as far as
… toward thy foe, who,
Not being in thy sight, shall snuff it
And the Lord did grin
And the people did feast
On the lambs and sloths
And fruit bats and breakfast cereals …
They do not. After lots of bad things will happen, Jesus will come again and the righteous will remain while all of us sinners will be burned.
Lots of good people will be resurrected and there will be a thousand years of peace. For those alive will “twinkle” when they die, becoming their celestial bodies in the twinkle of an eye.
Which literally explains the twinkling vampires in “Twilight”. It’s a very Mormon book.
And don’t get me started on the original Battlestar Galactica . . .
There are indictments against 16 people but only 11 arrested. Who are the other 5 they are keeping a bed ready for?
Blaine Cooper seems likely, and maybe his wife. They brought their kids to the refuge.
Mel Bundy was the third brother at Malheur. Nobody knows where he is or why he wasn’t already arrested.
Old man Cliven? If there’s ever been a sumbitch in need of indictin’, it’s him. How to take him into custody?
Send him a letter summoning him to appear at X time and place for a Common-Law Court Jury impanelment.
I’d guess Cooper and the four still at the refuge.
nm.
Charges have been returned by the grand jury:
Looks like the clowns who are still holding out actually will face MORE charges. These clowns are looking at long prison sentences. i would not be surprised if more charges were not forthcoming after the clowns rare removed from the reserve, and the crime scene analyzed.
The “counts” count up, almost smoothly from one to sixteen? Ammon, who started the whole thing, only gets one? That can’t be right.
I wonder if it’s some kind of numbered list of the defendants that somehow got incorporated into the article.
