The Bundys are at it again.

This may be a bit of a stretch to extrapolate to his sons, but we know Cliven’s thoughts on the constitution:
But I don’t recognize the United States government as even existing.
So maybe they’re expecting imaginary mail.

If he doesn’t recognize the USG, then why the fuck does he think the Constitution defends him?

You don’t remember Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing? There were some very active and vocal militia groups during Bill Clinton’s time in office.

He’s an enigma, a mystery wrapped in a riddle.

If they can get to someone the post office to pick up food donations, why can’t they just send them to the grocery instead for Mountain Dew and pork rinds? Are they that broke?

Here’s a picture of their “supply room” – It’s pretty funny ( a handful of picked over looking bags of groceries, a big cooler, a boom box and some gym equipment. Although those big bags appear to be dog food?..

And they had grilled cheese for lunch yesterday

I guess what has me rolling my eyes and shaking my head is that the rancher vs Bureau of Land Management / Forest Service animosity has been going on for decades and decades through Democratic and Republican administrations and it seems to transcend party politics. But, as with the Cliven Bundy stand-off, the “the government is pure evil because Obama” types are determined to throw their hat in with these guys without much understanding of the underlying issues.

Your mistake is that you’re expecting all of this to make sense.

It seems to me that the writer has it precisely backward. The use of mocking parodies of Middle East terrorist terminology makes the point that one bunch of terrorists is as guilty as another. The “Vanilla ISIS” moniker also succinctly underscores the point that they’re given a lot more leeway because they’re white guys.

That makes the mockery of Bozo Haram and its Cowliphate even funnier.

They’re cuukoo, so send them some Cocoa Puffs.

Did you guys see this video from the scene?

I was going by the pictures I’ve seen of Ammon Bundy. He seems to be carrying around a copy of the constitution in his shirt pocket. Maybe I’m reading too much into that.

Doesn’t matter. The authorities aren’t allowing anyone in.

The Tax Policy Center’s estimate for 2015 is that 45.3% do not pay any federal income tax at all. That’s almost half. And before you mention state and local taxes they may pay, none of those go to pay for this Visitor Center at the wildlife refuge.

Blaine Cooper enlisted in the Marines but never went to boot camp.

Ryan Payne claimed to be a Ranger but that was a lie.

What possible difference does this make? The property of the US government is owned by all citizens, not just taxpayers.

Per the Guardian, Feds plan to cut power, then cut phone service, then block the roads.

Sounds good to me.

Let’s break this down.

Federal income tax is hardly the only tax people pay. Many of those 45% pay FICA, state taxes, etc.

Second, and more important, most of the people who don’t pay taxes, as I noted, have paid in the past or will in the future. Many are retirees who paid plenty of taxes while working hard their whole lives.

Third, I didn’t say how many paid and how many didn’t. I said most people pay taxes as some point in their lives, even if not all in a given year.

But I did mention those, because my response was to a comment that didn’t mention refuges. It was more of one of those arrogant “freeloaders!” comments.

And again, most people pay some kind of federal income tax at some point in their lives.

Oh, one more thing - none of this matters one bit. Your right to enjoy a federal wildlife refuge, or any other government service, is not predicated on how much you pay in taxes.

Oh, also, there’s no fucking way anyone can know who pays taxes on this board, or how much.

Ah. I thought it was the militia / terrorists / whatever the hell they are, that were controlling access. I’ve gotten the impression that there isn’t much of a law enforcement presence.
