Yeah, I saw that, but I never actually heard any specifics on what happened to Mr. Stop-Sending-Us-Dicks! Hope the police were waiting for him when he got home - he’s another who would look smashing in an orange jumpsuit and metal bracelets.
This kid has never fit in and has always been picked on. And now the eyes of the world (in his view) are on him, and he’s “leading” three other idiots. No way he’s giving that up.
There’s a lot of movement in the West by ranchers who are angry with the BLM. They just had a forum in Idaho that Bundy was supposed to attend where the encouraged ranchers to tear up the contracts with the BLM. This is part of an on-going series.
Bundy, Finicum and friends have been trying to start a bigger fight since last year.
It very much sounds like they were planning on having an armed stand off somewhere.
It sounds like their complaint is that they’re not being allowed to overgraze, which could make the land useless even for themselves.
It’s not even their land, and at least some of them are getting to use it at below market rates, and they complain that it’s still not enough, to the point of threatening, and even attempting, insurrection.
Well yes, it does sound like they want the land to be either held by the state as an “open range” unrestricted, unregulated commons, or else granted (or sold for peanuts) unconditionally to whoever means to use it for profit, as if it still were the mid-1800s.
That most of them could not make it if they had to pay for land and credit at fair market rates does not cross their mind because those are really a ploy by the bankers, of course…
](Cliven Bundy Statement | PDF | Federal Government Of The United States | Liberty)He blathers on for quite a while, making erroneous statements about the law, the constitution, history, etc. It’s really quite a piece of work, in the sense that a blind monkey throwing shit at a 30 foot by 40 foot canvas for a week would create “quite a piece of work”. He winds up by re-asserting that Finicum was assassinated because of what he and other Bundyites were “trying to teach”.
These dumb fucks. Assassinated because they were afraid of him? Then why did they not kill the rest of them? They had them at gunpoint with no witnesses for a hundred square miles yet only killed the one person who was trying to kill them.
Maybe the government doesn’t want to kill them all. Maybe they’re the assholes.
Cliven needs to be taken down. It was a massive mistake not to draw a line in the sand when Cliven did his BS. Take him to court for his back fees at least.
All the ones that fled this time should also get the book thrown at 'em and their day in court.
And if this type of armed takeover occurs again, use the new playbook of cutting off power, communications, enforce a perimeter, open negotiations and throw the book at 'em .
I love how the “LeVoy had his hands up” meme completely ignore the part where he drops his hands and made a threatening move. If LeVoy really wanted to surrender, he would have frozen his hands on the top of the steering wheel, or reached them out the window without moving.
Cliven Bundy has had several days in court, and he’s lost each time. His last loss in court is what led to the 2014 roundup of his cattle, which was then thwarted by an armed conspiracy that threatened the lives of the federal officers and agents who were involved in the seizure.
He has gotten off scot-free, not just for grazing his cattle illegally, but also for conspiring to prevent federal officials from doing their jobs. He has not been punished in any way for calling hundreds of armed people to cross state lines for support against the feds.
Actually one might argue that within some short time frame NOW is the time to take down Cliven.
Not saying it IS. Just saying I can see that you could argue it either way.
And fact that that yahoo has gotten off scott free is absurd. I doubt I could own anything more than a carboard box and stiff the federal government for that long and not be in jail and/or have my good stuff taken by the feds.
I wonder if they could destroy illegally grazing cattle. Maybe they could shoot them from the air. I suppose it would be difficult because shooting one or two would presumably stampede the rest.
It seems like there must be something that can be done; and something needs to be done; this most recent incident shows that. If you let people get away with ignoring the law, they’ll get bolder and bolder and go further and further.
