It was actually me, not Kruler, since he was in a BG at the time. The problem on that fight was that the tank was new and didn’t know to kite the Forgemaster out of rockfalls/fire on the ground, and both Jsor and Yeti, being melee, had nowhere they could attack without standing in a huge pool of…well, rocks fell, everyone died, we’ll just put it that way.
Still, after you left, we snagged another tank (this one, according to Jsor, in full arena gear) and beat the Forgemaster up. Said tank was a jerk, making snide comments about the DPS at several points (no one was under 6K DPS according to my recount), and finally dropped group after someone accidentally jumped over the edge in GB and insta-died when we were trying to skirt around the 3rd boss. We got a paly tank next who was better, but didn’t remember the fights, so we skipped the dragon boss and just moved on to Erudax. Wiped twice, I think, on him, because people weren’t getting the adds down fast enough but finally, we got him down, which completed all the Heroics for me (save for ZG/ZA) and got me the Cataclysm Hero achievement.
I just dumped over 5,000 JPs on heirlooms, too. Great. Anyway, I find that running random BGs and doing TB then converting honor to JPs to be much faster than dungeon running – although I recognize that I may be biased against dungeons.
Fun BDL weekend, I got introduced into the Arena by Long Time Lurker. Rottingbird has my best PvP, and after losing enough to get into the lower ranks, we started winning! It was a bit of a struggle. Moobird on the other hand needs to get some PvP gear so I can be a part of the BDL team!
Then for Monday Night of Fun, Jsor, Yeti, Kalathan, and I(Moo) finished off H:Stonecore to get us the achievement and new banner. We unfortunately spread some bad rep around about our guild. Mostly that we don’t know what we’re doing in a dungeon:p That poor PuG healer.
Sorry I missed out on the Stonecore run; I could have healed for you. But my wife had the night off so not spending it with her would have been a Bad Idea. It’s too bad because I had just run H:Stonecore the day before and I’ve been running the regular version a lot on my shammy so I might have been able to help. Yay for the banner though, thanks!
Picked up a couple of ilvl 353 dps items (helm and 2h weapon) in ZG last night (was only there for the last 3 boss fights!). Had to break out the spreadsheet again to do a massive reforging of my gear to get the hit and expertise back to cap, but I’m ready to bring the “New and Improved” pain.
Yeah, I felt sorry for that poor healer; probably thought we were a bunch of total idiots. I even apologized once after we had a partial wipe.
I think what I dislike the most about the Cataclysm instances - especially in heroic mode - is there’s absolutely no margin for error. One little slip up, or lag spike, and you’re instantly dead. There’s almost never a chance for a heroic comeback once something goes wrong.
So I was trying to beat Kreuler (the warrior) to 85, and I even started with almost a 30 level lead, but no, he’s too damn fast. He’s already passed me up and should get there pretty quickly. Once he gets honored with BDL, we should get our Classy achievement! On the other hand it gave me some time to play a warrior and get mine up to 72. Still prefer to stand far away:D
I’m also into arenas now. Krueler (the rogue) and I (Rottingbird) are a 2v2 team called the Charred Dogs. Once we lost the first dozen fights or so, we got downranked into our appropriate level of play. Now we are very competitive at this level. (Grats Blizz for making a system that seems to work) Unfortunately since Rottingbird is not a BDLer anymore, our team is not a guild team. (actually I’m not sure what it takes for the guild-weekly challenge - win 3 rated arena battles) Maybe I should be more proactive of running BH with Moobird and try to win some PvP gear. Which by the way Lurker, is how you get the super PvP gear without needing the rankings to buy. Anyone else got a few pieces of PvP gear and wants to join/swap in with us?

I’ll be on tonight, but I have to work until 8 so I won’t be around till almost 9 server time. I can run ZG/ZA (or dare I hope, any raid) on Keyne (heal), regular heroics on Kene (DPS) or pre-85 dungeons on Kheen (heal). Kheen is about 65% to 85 so he will get there this week.
Speaking of which, I’m in desparate need of mail caster gloves and boots. Any BSs or LWs who can help me out?
Other way around. I have such a simple naming convention! Kreuler; e before u: rogue (because it’s the opposite of the last 2 letters of rogue), Krueler; u before e: warrior (because there’s no e in warrior), Kruler; no middle e: priest (because of the e in the middle of priest). It’s all common sense, really.
I’ve been running BH weekly, but no luck with drops yet.
Pretty much have all of the 359, 346 and 339 PvP recipes…the “Ornate” items are the caster + resilience PvP gear, and the “Bloodied” is the tank/dps + resilience PvP gear. It’s all Plate though, Skammer…I can’t BS any mail/leather items.
Also still have about 10-12 chaos orbs, so I can also make the 359 gear on that list as well.
I have a full set of PvP gear as well except for trinks, rings and weapon…I could fill in if needed for the Charred Dogs, although I’m just another DPS’r.
Have a doctor’s appointment for my son 45 minutes before our scheduled 9:00pm start time, but it should be short enough to make it, unless the doctor is running late.
Been having an issue with getting those 132 crash errors while playing the last couple of nights, which kind of killed the opportunity to do a guild run last night…fortunately, it seemed to have stopped later that night while I was able to play another 2 hours uninterrupted. Hopefully, that will be the case tonight. Still have log-on issues too, but for some reason, if I bring up the task manager (ctrl-alt-del), I’m able to get on with less attempts. Go figure.
I forgot, Kene has the tailor-crafted PvP cloth set, but I haven’t done any PvP on him since Cata dropped.
Thanks Yeti. I think I looked at the BS recipes and didn’t see any mail I needed - I’ll probably need a leatherworker. In those two slots (feet and hands) I still have below-ilvl 200 gear. The AH has been no help.
Yeti: Be happy to. Both my rogue and priest have pretty good pvp gear (rogue is about 3500 resilience, and priest around 3000).
I have a fair amount of arena experience with the rogue, but very little with the priest (although I read that discipline is very strong this season). So we can play around a little with the combos and see what works best. We can even try out 3v3, but the competition there is a little more fierce.
Kene: Let me know what mail pieces you need. I probably have the leather to buy patterns, but I have a bit of a problem with rolling for orbs (I think I’m cursed). I still can’t get the one more I need to make my belt.
Can orbs be transferred to people in your dungeon group like other equipment? If so, you may be able to overcome my bad luck and transfer the orbs to me for your mail armor.
Hmm, I don’t know; it’s worth a try. I’d have to run with Kene to be eligible to roll for orbs though, since my pally is an alchemist and my shammy can’t do heroics yet (plus I don’t think engineers use orbs either).
But really, I don’t need the highest level orb gear. Any Cata item would be a significant upgrade, and if you have any blue non-orb recipes for mail caster gear I can probably use it. I’ll have to look at the LW recipes and then place my order.
I’m sitting here drooling like Homer Simpson over the Elementium Deathplate on Yeti’s list. I may have to see about accumulating materials…
I plan to be on tonight too with Kalathan. I’m willing to try tanking an instance or even a raid, as long as either (a) I know the fights or (b) someone can explain them before we start. I’ve been playing with the Protection spec pretty steadily over the last couple of weeks, and am feeling much more comfortable with it.
I’m also more than happy to tank non-heroic Cataclysm instances for any guildies who need a non-heroic run for their sub-85 toons. So if I’m online, and you need a tank for a run, just ask! (Heck, I’ll even try heroic tanking with a PUG if a guildie needs a run).
If you don’t have mining I can supply some hardened elementium bars, doing dailies you basically trip over elementium so I’m not in short supply. As for the Truegold, I found that if you do all your Therazane, Dragonmaw, and Hellscream’s Reach dailies every day you’ll roughly be able to afford one Truegold every two days, assuming the price doesn’t skyrocket. I got lucky and found a BoE world drop purple mace that I sold for about 3k gold so mine went a little quicker, but truegold is pretty cheap if you do dailies.
