The Burning Dog Crater -- Raidlist and other fun things for Cataclysm

Moobird is also a maxed LW sitting on 2 or 3 orbs. So I can help you out Skammer. But I don’t see any boots or gloves from LW:( Except for those with resiliance. There’s a nice belt that’s useful until you get the drop from ZA/ZG. Just let me know.

Though it looks like there is a BS-shield that is BiS for resto all the way through raid levels. Elementium Stormshield.

And I am happy to donate my Truegold CD every day.

Engineers can roll on orbs – they are used for their epic goggles and I believe the 346-level ranged weapons.

Oh, that’s right, I fogot. As I said I haven’t been in any heroics with him yet. 85 first.

I think my pally might still be using that Stormshield, so I’ll look to get it for the shammy too. My shammy’s got tons of elementium/hardened elementium if anyone needs it, and the pally does not use his Truegold CD every day so I can help out with that too.

Chaos Orbs are Bind on Person…not tradeable or auctionable. Only the items that you make with the orbs are trade/auctionable.

I realize that some of you can use shields and those are the least expensive to make orb-wise; they only require 1 orb.

Belts are 2 orbs.

Chest pieces and the 346 level weapons are 3 orbs.

Lurks…we could try to run an all-guild heroic and pass on chaos orb (roll) if you are one short.

Did you guys try trading a Choas orb after your heroic last night? Other BoPs are tradeable within the party for 2 hours after a run, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Orbs are. Hope you got a chance to test it.

And cheers to all for the first BDL Cata raid achievement! Okay, it was only Baradin Hold, but still, that’s a good sign. And thanks to the folks who ran Stonecore with me again. I am so sick of that place – Kheen always ends up there or Vortex Pinnacle.

Lurker linked his LW to me and it looks like all the mail armor had “random enchant” on it. Is there really no crafting profession that makes mail armor for spellcasters? That’s a bitch but oh well.

Yeti, I may take you up on the shield when I hit 85; I should be able to get the mats easily (except the Orb of course).

LW is pretty anemic with cata-level gear – the really good pieces leveling up are randomly generated, and after that there’s nothing to fill in the gaps until the epic-level stuff aside from PvP gear. As far as work-to-reward ratio goes, LW is probably the worst profession out there.

Didn’t have to…Lurks won it outright…and I see on the guild page that he made it.

Grats, Lurks!

Also, if you are need of some 346 rings and necklaces, I can make any of these for anyone too. Just give me a couple of days to get enough tokens to get the chimera eyes. The only downside is that these designs take 75 of a certain volatile element, depending on what you want…some are easy to come by, some are tougher. But an alchemist can be of help transmute what you want if you got volatile life stockpiled.

I did indeed win it! Thank you for the support. It automatically stacked with the other orb in my inventory, which did not register as tradeable like the equipment I won, so it probably is truly bound.

I also managed to pick up a nice set of heroic boots. My pve gear is no longer laughable. Only pieces desperately in need of upgrading are back and shoulders.

Yeti, I sent you the mats for the Elementium Stormshield for my shammy. Should hit 85 tonight.

I finally found out why I’ve been getting VP or Stonecore on every run: my gear is not high enough level for the higher dungeons (HoO, Tol’Vir, Grim Batol). The fact that my gloves/boots are below level 200 and my heirloom cloak is ilvl 1 is no doubt the reason.

I’ll just have to go to Wowhead and figure out what quests I need to do to get some decent upgrades for the glove/boots slots. With the way the quest chains are laid out in Cata I hope I don’t have to quest through a whole zone to find them.

The greens from Twilight Highlands are basically as good as the blues from the earlier zones, so you could probably just get a couple of those until you can replace them with dungeon drops/badge gear.

Ooh, I forgot about badge gear! I have about 2500 JPs I’ve collected since hitting 80, so that’s one or two items right there. Thanks for the reminder!

The only gripe I have about questing is that I’ll have to learn to dps and use my elemental spec. Grumble grumble.

Hey…since we had our first run of 10 Doggies, and I only have a list of 6 on here…how about you 4 Doggies remind me so I can update our raid list?

Kahmu brought his non-guild shammy Ragemode to heal, I remember that.

Also, Yeti, thanks for the Stormshield! I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll hit 85 tonight and get to equip it. Depends on my wife’s schedue.

Jarryn (Priest) - DPS & Heals
Ghworg (Hunter) - DPS

are the 85s I have now and both have utter crap for gear scores, so I don’t know if I’d say they are “raid ready”.

Kalathan had over 4000 JPs, so I decided to replace a couple of my level 333 tanking gear set items with level 346 items. I picked up Chestplate of the Steadfast and the Shield of the Four Grey Towers.

I was somewhat annoyed afterwards to discover that you can have an enchant on your shield, or a shield spike, but not both. I also still need to get a good enchant for the chestpiece - there was absolutely nothing useful in the AH yesterday afternoon when I checked. Still, the new gear gets Kalathan to 150K HP (unbuffed) when she’s in the Protection spec, which I figure is pretty good.

So, armed with my new gear I took a deep breath and queued for my first non-guild tanking try. I queued for a non-heroic dungeon. Thankfully, it came up with Vortex Pinnacle, which was fine with me as the boss fights - even in heroic mode - are rather straightfoward. The run went fine; the only death was against the final boss when one of the DPS thought they were inside the grounding field but actually weren’t.

This is kind of a long-winded way of saying I’m trying to get Kal ready to be one of our guild tanks, because I know the BDL is pretty thin on them. My major stumbling block at the moment is that I don’t know most of the heroic fights (from a tank perspective that is), and I don’t know any of the raid fights at all; my only raid being Baradin Hold on Monday night. That went pretty well, once someone explained how to manage the fight (after our first failure).

Nice job Rune! Regarding chest enchants, Kene has all the +stats chest enchants which afaik are the best for just about everyone. Maybe there is a better tanking one, I’m not sure. The top stats enchant for chests takes 3 (5?) maelstrom crystals, though, so it’s not cheap. However if you have the mats I’ll be glad to make it for you.

Keyne is still my only raid-ready toon, but as I said in the other thread my resto shammy is 85 now and with the JP changes in 4.2 I should get him geared up pretty quickly. I figure he’ll mostly be useful for when we have a pally-heavy group, to balance us out a bit more.

Yeah, we’re so Paladin-heavy I figured that it wouldn’t hurt if at least one of us Pallies could fill another role for the guild.

The Elitist Jerks pally tanking guide recommends Enchant Chest - Greater Stamina.

I’m still sort of edging Keliraeda toward tanking, but I’m still limited by my irregular work schedule, the same thing that’s kept me from regularly participating in the BDL Monday night runs.

Bad news…my home computer is getting alot of NT errors and shutting down within in a few minutes of turning it on…therefore I am taking it to a local computer shop to get it either re-installed with Windows XP Pro or purchase Windows 7 and have that installed. Hopefully, this will also solve the other issues with the 132 crashes I have been getting although some say it’s the 8800/9800 GT video card that is responsible for that.

Anyways, this means I won’t be on tonight for the weekly guild run.

The good news is that I will come on on weekdays (on the office computer in the afternoon) to make sure the gem cuts are handled (in the G-bank) and any BS requests are taken care of for the rest of the week and hopefully I might get my computer back by the weekend…we’ll see.
