The Burning Dog Crater -- Raidlist and other fun things for Cataclysm

Looks like Shin has to do it… the highest I could move you up is to Vaultmaster. On that note, I went ahead and made the event.

bwa ha ha ha. rubs hands together gleefully

Can you have more than one VM? I thought that was Yeti’s job. I wonder how high you have to be to use Mass Invite.

Vaultmaster is just a rank we made, like Hellhound or Legionnaire. We can put as many people in that rank as we want.

After some experimenting, looks like the answer is Flamelord.

Well, BDL finally got to step into a Raid tonight. We only had 6 people on, but Darland was available and very graciously served as one of the two tanks. He also got a couple people from his guild/friends to join us and so we entered FL and cleared a bunch of trash and then took on Shannox. We one shot Shannox with only one death at the end, although I was quite stupid and stepped in a crystal trap, resulting in the need for the group to break the retarded healer out (that’s what I get for focusing too much on my meters/cooldowns and not enough on the ground). :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, I was pleased that we managed to one-shot Shannox; but I guess that’s what the nerfing would allow.

As the other tank I was a little annoyed with myself that I couldn’t seem to keep the aggro off of Darland when necessary; even using my taunts I couldn’t hold aggro for very long. I didn’t have any trouble holding aggro on Shannox at the end though, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my technique; it’s just Darland had better gear and was doing much more damage than I was. Plus I’m sure he’s a much better player

Yes I’m quite happy that we finally put it together, even if it is post-nerf. It’s been almost a year since we were doing ICC regularly. Maybe we’ll have some momentum to carry us into next week (although unfortunately I’ll be on vacation next week. Bad timing :frowning: ).

I go back to work next week, so I wouldn’t be on anyways.

Happy to help. Everyone did a great job of avoiding the traps, IMO. Hitting a few is not at all surprising for the first attempt. I should have been a bit clearer about the main tanks movement in my explanation so we didn’t get so inundated with them by the end. Moving the boss off to a clear area before the burn makes it easier.

I really think the group could do Beth and Rhyo in their current state as well. Not sure if I’ll ever be on, but if I am and you’re putting something together feel free to ask.

I wouldn’t worry about the aggro issues. It was only on trash, and I think you were still using a lower-level weapon. Until I got the FL weapon I had huge issues holding off our paladin. In fact, I went in with another group working on Ragnaros and both tanks had repeated issues holding each other off after taunts. The threat buffs have made misses after taunts very tricky, so we had to completely stop attacking after taunts.

I do know that as a tank there’s nothing more annoying than never having threat on anything. It’s second only to dying repeatedly in making a tank feel bad. So I feel your pain.

You did a really good job handling the boss, I thought, including moving him mid-fight when I remembered to tell you.

Yeah, I’m still using the level 353 Gurubashi Punisher that I picked up at the AH a while back as my tanking weapon. I’m sort of stumped with regards to possible upgrades for it; just doesn’t seem to be anything available for me at the moment.

Of course, I do have the 1H level 365 beer mug that I looted from Corin Direbrew the first day of Brewfest. That’s techincally an upgrade from my weapon ( since even though it would trade STR for AGI I still do slightly more DPS with it ), but it just looks so stupid swinging the bear mug as a weapon…

It’s probably one of those cases where I could get a better weapon from the Firelands quartermaster, but I need Firelands runs to get rep with Firelands before I could buy one (Having only done two runs, I’m still neutral with them). I seem to be in those situations far too often.

Isn’t there a Blacksmithing weapon that would be an upgrade? Yeti could probably make you one.

I don’t believe so. The BS weapon is a two-hander, IIRC. There are also caster one-handers.

The best one-hand tanking weapon for this tier, AFAIK, is the one from Beth’tilac.

There are two Blacksmithing upgrades
Unbreakable Guardian (Which resembles a Wrath green)
Elementium Edged Scalper

Personally I went with the scalper with both my tanks, just because it looked a lot meaner.

Huh, no idea how I missed those.

Yup…I can make those… I have plenty of orbs too (18, atm). Mail me the mats, Runestar and you’ll get it ASAP.

I have the Hardened Elementium bars, volatile fire, zephyrites and orbs…just send the truegold and the savage leather when you are ready.

Let me also add that we got all 7 of our guild achieves done last night in less than an hour running Coren Direbrew those 7 times…that was the easiest 2.1M guild points and 875 gold. I’m pretty sure everything resets this morning so we can do it again for this week AND the following week too. We should be level 20 this week if not next.

I’ve been running Corin as a tank with Kalathan every day, and nothing special out of it.

Then I did one run with my Death Knight alt on a different server, and the Ram mount dropped for him. Go figure!

Have you gotten the tanking trinket at least? Lots of dodge with an on-use dodge buff is pretty sweet on a lot of fights.

Last night myself (on Kheen my shammy), Kalathan, Makig and new guy Leogon ran Coren Direbrew 7 times in probably 15 minutes or so to cap our guild dungeon achievement for the week. Getting close to level 20.

I ran heroic Magister’s Terrace on Kene again still looking for the pet or mount. No luck there, but I did get the Orb of the Sin’dorai (turns you into a Blood Elf) and a (level 70) epic tailoring recipe, so the run was not a total loss.

I’m leaving for vacation in the morning so I may or may not be on tonight depending on the packing situation but afterward I’ll see you all again on the 10th.

And Yeti made the Elementium Edged Scalper for me after I sent him the materials. Thanks Yeti!

Started last night running Coren with Moobird faux-healing. (healing from balance spec) With enough dps, that fight is easy enough that it wasn’t a problem.
Z-Dungeon run last night. Had trouble on the final boss, and we lost Kalathan due to the hour, but we picked up a PuG and finished for the VP. Then the 4 remaining doggies went around and got the achievement for killing those mobs you usually run past.
Moobird, my druid, is stuck between wanting to be a bear or a chicken/cat. That’s spread pretty thin. I also have one piece of Justice Tier-gear as Chicken and one as Bear/Cat. I’m getting enough for a second piece, but not sure what to do. Bear and Cat Tier gear is the same piece, so it’s a bit better to get those, but the further I want to take him in that direction I’d have to lose the chicken spec and dual as cat & bear.
I’m guessing that bear/cat would be easiest to gear through Tier 11 raids. I’ll have to think about it.
