The Burning Dog Crater -- Raidlist and other fun things for Cataclysm

I’m gonna try it again…I picked up a weapon upgrade over the weekend and have reforged as optimal as possible. Also, I am real close to exalted with Hyjal for the epic plate belt which should help considerably.

The JC is at 522 now and apparently Jaztroza came out of nowhere and is now neck and neck with me! Probably already got it since I haven’t been on since Sunday morning.

We waited until a little past 9:00 server time, but folks were later getting online last night so we finally jumped into heroic queue with me, Rahuul and Rottingbird along with Shin Kell tanking on Reins and one of his guildmates (a shadow priest) and got put in Throne of Tides. It was too bad we only had three BDLers, it would have been nice to get the guild achievement. But we had a very smooth run, with just one wipe on the mind controlling lava spewing squid boss. Second attempt, we lost on dps right away and then lost the other two dps when he was around 15% – Reins and I took him down the rest of the way.

With the next patch (today maybe?) holy pallies are getting hit with a 10% mana cost increase on most spells, but after last night I’m not terribly worried about it. Mana has not been a problem on even most boss fights (unlike my priest who has to drink after every trash pull).

Earlier in the evening we also got an Archeology guild achievement for digging up 500 relics. Go Doggies!

Sorry to flake out on you there, but I’ve used Muz’s DPS spec in precisely zero instances, and it still has 3 or 4 green pieces in it.

I also apologize for flaking out, I was looking forward to a guild run but my attention was demanded elsewhere. It looks like I will have some play time tonight, perhaps we will reach critical mass again.

No need for apologies - we felt bad for not being able to include the people who showed up after we started. Fun was had by all, and I even got all my Therazane and Tol Barad dailies done.

BDL is a no-hassle guild, if we don’t run, we’ll find other things to do:) But I should get my beartank heroic ready just in case. The run was nice, I think our non-guild-dps was actually our lowest dps on a few encounters. Made me feel better about starting in on heroics now (still <10k dps and don’t know the new mechanics so might have to tread lightly). Plus with the 2 drops I got last night, I’m feeling better about my gear. (Plus I didn’t realize I had a rep-UG waiting for me, so got that too.)
Only 10 more archeology projects until 525! I’ve decided that any keystone on the AH for <100g is worth the time/money for me. I just had horrible droprates for those things. (or is it selective memory? could be both) So far have gotten, the Robes, the Axe and a pet. I hear the BoA stuff are changing next release, so that’ll be cool.
Will never do this on a non-mage…tho the hasty-hearth may make a difference.

I wanted to post this yesterday but I didn’t want to preempt any guild run.
I’m still trying to get a wand. According to the comments here

Add another comment supporting this, and I think it’s worth a shot. Though I doubt 10 minutes is anything close to accurate. Still, anyone up for some Arena-ing?

I’ve been working on a set of pvp gear I might give that a shot although my pvp mechanics may be questionable at best.

Yeah - I skipped Monday night because our ice storm was raging here in central Indiana, and I frankly expected to lose power, the internet or both at any point. Didn’t think it would be fair to start a run and suddenly d/c on everyone and never come back.

Hmmmm…sounds familiar…

So on the Working As a Team front, Awsm should make honored next week (the guild rep thing resets on Tuesday, right?); for the moment I’m gaining one point a day in Inscription since Forged Documents are so so much cheaper than any other method of gaining skill points at this point (low 500s); by the weekend I’ll probably be over that and ready to make a final push to 525.

Is there a guild reward for Working As a Team?

I bit the bullet and had Keyne drop skinning/LW for herb/alchemy; he’s about 125-150 in each right now but I’ll work on it some more tonight.

Also, I’m trying to spend at least 10 minutes (one Fishing Hat cooldown) fishing off the TH shore each day to collect volatile Waters and Deepsea Sagefish. The Sagefish sell really well on the AH; I sold about half a stack for 95g yesterday.

Hoping we can get a guild herioc or two in tonight.

There is a reward, but it’s kind of lame - some kind of banner thingy. Might be useful in guild pvp if we were to do such a thing.

I’m in for tonight. if we need Moo to tank, we’d have to do a regular, he’s just not ready for prime time tanking. But Rottingbird is getting some good experience at heroics. And some good gear. well except for a damn wand!

Muz should be available.

Bird, if I’m ever online and you want to do a regular dungeon with Moo, let me know. I’ve run very few dungeons with Kene and he needs the practice.

I hope to be on with Kalathan. I’m not geared for heroics yet, but would like to do a regular Cat instance to help with the gearing up process.

I should be on tonight and I had a new discovery last night about my computer issues. My iexplore.exe app kept popping up two files at a time (and I don’t even access it) on my Windows Task Manager. When it does this (like every time for the last couple of months), it downloads some sort of “audible flash” type of commercials (audio only, no video, no separate pop up window…just sound) with a beginning of a program from who knows where. I’ve had to “End Task” on those two files to stop the audio from being played. A minute later the process repeats itself. Extremely annoying.

Well, last night, I removed IE8 from my computer. Lo and behold, after a WoW repair and getting rid of the Cache and WTF hopefully for the last time, I got on in the first try. HOPEFULLY, this solution is not temporary but permanent although there are times I’m gonna need IE to access microsoft related stuff (I think…correct me if I’m wrong) and will probably have to download it again. I worry that there’s probably something in a registry that is waiting for IE to show up again to start the trouble all over again unless I do a total scrub down and fresh reinstall of windows, which I absolutely dread.

But for tonight…I should be on! I’m much better off this week gearwise than 2 weeks ago when we had issues getting through heroics.

I should be up for some guild dungeoning, heroic or regular, tonight as well (Makig).

While many websites are optimized and coded to run best on IE, it’s almost never a strict requirement. I use Firefox for everything (including Microsoft stuff) with little to no issues – and if the formatting is terribly broken in Firefox, then I try it with Chrome instead. You should have no issues being completely IE-free.

And another thing. Although the guild runs I’ve gotten into have been fun, and the pugs have gotten somewhat less painful, I think I’m going to take a WoW vacation when my subscription ends (Feb 18); I’ll be up for tanking in the meantime and trying to finish Working as a Team.
