Thanks, Shayna, for the warm welcome you have extended as I bumble around in here.
However-
You should have warned me that this was such a tough crowd!
First I have to post a picture, and now I have to come up with an ACCENT? I think I am in over my red head here, lass!
Sorry to disappoint, but although I am Scottish, my grandparents emigrated to the good ol’ USA when my mom was about 16. The only time I had an accent was when I was learning to talk- I stayed with my gram while mom worked. As soon as I started spending time with other kids, I lost it. Too bad, I agree. Would have come in useful around now. I still, however, understand what is being said when I listen to Scots conversing.
This is no’ as easy as i’ soonds, ye ken? I still get homesick for my Gram whenever I hear someone talking in Scottish brogue.
And I don’t want to end up in the pit with all of the outraged Scotsmen who take issue with the way I wrote that last sentence-that’s how it sounds to me, okay?
Pictureless, accentless-can I still stay and play? I’ll bring the haggis (but I won’t promise to eat any)
Yes, I know, you were the one I was specifically replying to, but I did read the other girls post (sorry, bad about remembering names and too lazy to go back and look it up) and felt bad about not replying to hers too
I went to the Prom Queen thread, and I have to say-
I concede before I compete. That is a pretty sterling bunch there, I just wish I could figure out where to see the pictures some of them mention. I would like to place faces with names. Anyway-
No accent, no picture, no funny dress, no guts. I’m too shy to blow my own horn, at least at this point.
(All right, all of you get your minds out of the proverbial gutter. Right now, you all, I SAID RIGHT NOW! Okay, that is better-you on the mac, I SAID RIGHT NOW! Doesn’t anyone ever listen to me? Hello?)
Scotti – I tried reading your posts with an accent, but I sounded like Groundskeeper Willy. I’ll try again later, but can’t guarantee better results.
All day, sounding like your Gram? You’re a dear!
Ellen – Can I PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE drool on your IBTC thread?
Next, I’ll start a FM-AG (Fat, Middle-Aged Guy) thread and see if I can get some (positive) response.
Someone earlier tried to do some math and figure out why men like red-heads. Someone said that finding a beautiful (or something like that) one was not easy. Actually, I have seldom found a red-head that was not beautiful as evidenced by the posters here.
Why do men like them? I can’t speak for all men, but I like a strong woman that can hold her own in a battle of wits and cleaverness. I find that red-heads as a general rule can do so. Not that others cannot, but most red-heads I know fit the type woman I like.
Mrs. Trkr is such a woman.
Dang it, you people are makeing me hot. I need to beam on over and spend some quality time with Mrs. Trkr.
BTW, I think all redheads should read “Still Life with Woodpecker” by Tom Robbins. It’s not the greatest book I’ve ever read, but it has a lot of fun things to say about the redhead temperament.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, us redheads like to be in control. Anything else you think you want to know?
Now go take out the trash. And bring me some coffee. And there’s some clothes in the dryer that need folding. When you’re done, go wait for me in the bedroom. I don’t know when I’ll be there. Just wait.
