I’m hoping everyone in the Maritimes is stocked up and prepared - today’s storm is predicted to be very nasty indeed.
Not good.
In case anyone wonders next curling season why I won’t be mentioning my niece anymore.
A bit of a shocker.
SWMBO and I actually sat outside and had a few beverages with a clear patio and above zero temps two weeks ago; I saw people riding motorcycles, and bicycles! Apparently it was all a dream though because it was -18 when I (that being my wife) decided we were having BBQ pork ribs the other day. #^$@ Winter!
Sorry I meant to say, I love living in Alberia! Don’t know how that other thing slipped out…
With another 30 cm or so coming on Sunday. Yay.
My Nana is supposed to fly into Halifax on Sunday after spending some time in Florida.
Hope it won’t cause too much trouble with her travel plans.

Well, we’re not getting any kind of massive storm here, but I’m still going to bitch about the cold and the snow today, and the snow covering the ice on the sidewalks so I can’t see it and take my life in my hands when I went walking*. Wah.
*I may be exaggerating a bit - I could have fallen and broken something, though.
It looked like her replacement was a shock to the Sweeting team as well. Then there’s a bit of drama with the Martin/Koe bunch. I know spring tends to be a re-organizing time but normally the teams wait until late April/May before announcing changes/shake-ups.
Me too. Bitch bitch bitch complain bitch bitch bitch.
Go right ahead, because if you didn’t I would.
What’s discouraging, I think, is that the days are all the same: every day, it seems to be minus-5 or so, and the sky is cloudy and grey. The only thing that changes is the snow–sometimes is snows, sometimes it doesn’t. There is no indication that the weather will be anything but the way it is today, yesterday, and presumably tomorrow.
I need a vacation somewhere warm.
I keep singing in my head - This is the winter that doesn’t end
Yes, it goes on and on my friend
Some people started slashing their wrists,
Because they lost their will to live…
And now for something completely different - this report says that Fort Chipewyan has slightly higher rates of three kinds of cancer, but the cancers in Fort Chipeweyan are not related to the proximity of the oil sands.
Just wanted to share that information, even though some people (Neil Young, James Cameron) are determined that oil sands are teh evilllll.
Reporters from the Weather Network get blown over during Nova Scotia on-camera segment - video link. Yeah, I don’t think I’d want to be facing into that wind, either.
I would really like for it to stop snowing now. Thank you.
Also - would anyone like to buy some Girl Guide cookies?
Girl Guide cookies?
Are they made with real Girl Guides?
It’s -10 here now. It will be +9 tomorrow. I don’t think it’s been that warm since the second week of November. It will be paradise.
The wind was so strong they had to use a wired microphone. The wireless signal was being blown away.
US Coast Guard has a couple of small ice breakers working on TBay harbour today, and they will have a larger one at work here tomorrow. They formed a convoy to cut a lane from the Soo to Duluth, and are now opening up TBay. Of course we’re welcoming them with a snowstorm.
Looks like the Ring of Fire is moving forward, in that the Province of Ontario and several Matawa First Nations are now playing ball and agree on knocking a road up from Nakina. There will be tens of billions created from this project, but more importantly, it should help connect the various First Nations to the outside world (presently they only have ice roads in the winter) while at the same time create job opportunities.
