As a former Torontonian, I’d be glad to see that my home city falls off the radar. It’s a great city, and it will always be home, but I’d prefer if the world media looked at it for its good qualities, rather than … you know.
Anyway, Ford fans, all is not lost - Doug Ford has announced he’s interested in running for leadership of the provincial Conservative party.
Goodby “Mayor” Ford - hello “Premier” Ford!
Mike Harris redux?
You just said the words that must not be said so close to Halloween.
Best premier since Bill Davis.
That’s a very low bar. We’ve had no good premiers since Davis.
What was wrong with David Peterson?
And McGuinty and now Wynne are certainly not helping the cause.
Ski season opener for me at the top of Superior.
Shush you! Too early.
It’s never too early. Simply never.
Not much, really. Peterson did a reasonably good job, so I take it back; he was certainly more successful than Harris, whose accomplishments are somewhat difficult to ennumerate inasmuch as I cannot think of what they were.
Peterson of course will live forever as having called the worst-timed election in the history of the Westminster system, but that doesn’t change the fact he did a fairly reasonable job in office. Actually he was a lot like Bill Davis. I kind of forgot about him, to be honest.
Forgettable isn’t a bad trait in a politician. It’s a very rare highly noticeable politician who is better than the forgettable ones.
… which brings us right back to discussing the Ford brothers, as proving the rule. ![]()
This will be the fourth Halloween since I moved to Cold Lake in '91 that the kids will have no snow to traipse around and collect treats.
You say that like someone who lived through the Klein years in Alberta, but I’m pretty sure you didn’t. ![]()
Canada - Land of the Free, Home of the Bland!
The Moncton shooter has been sentenced to 75 years with no chance of parole.
Good.
Well I am 3/3 for rainy Halloweens, but last year the drizzle let up for trick or treating. 2012 was horrible. Miles had no one to trick or treat with, and it poured so heavily i poured an inch of water out of my purse at the end of the night. Got home, showered, and put my soaked Doc Martins back on to catch a red-eye to Toronto. One of the longest bleeping days of my life, woke up at 230 pm on the 30th, never ended up napping, worked 11pm- 7am didn’t sleep from 5 am until noon on the first of November except for a few cat naps here and there in Pearson Airport between arrival and my flight to YQT.
Never doing that again, but reasons to go to Thunder Bay are declining in inverse proportion to snow on Muffin’s ski hills.
I never did quite follow how the provincial Conservatives figured that adding private corporate profit to the cost paid by the public for a service was actually a savings.
