The CanaDoper Café, 2013 edition.

No, anyone who can provide something to prove their address and coughs up $300. seems to be welcome to a Research Reader’s card. Here’s the U of T page on External Researchers.

Ah, that’s as an alumnus. Even when I finally get around to getting that piece of paper to line the sock drawer, it’ll be from Brandon University, not U of T. In order to visit the stacks in Robarts, or take anything out from the Music Library, I need that Research Reader’s card.

Actually, I should look into how expensive Continuing Ed courses are, and whether they come with library privileges. I feel certain the last time I paid for my library card, it was more in the $175 - $200 range.

Thanks.

If it comes with the student edition of Westlaw and Quicklaw, that would more than pay for itself!

They actually only had one week to prepare, between the last game of the regular season against the Esks (Nov 2) and the first play-off game, the western semi-final against BC (Nov 10).

During the season, the advertising on-field is the right of the team and the stadium, which sells the space and gets the revenue. The Mosaic potash logo was there from the first exhibition game until the last regular season game.

However, once the stadium is being used for a play-off game, control passes to the CFL, which sells the advertising rights to national firms. So all the on-field advertising was different by the western semi-final. I don’t know how hard it is to take off the logos, but they’re designed to be durable and last all season, plus it was pretty cold the week after the west semi-final, which can’t have helped in the removal process.

Absolutely!! When he caught that pop-up fumble from Darian in the first quarter, one of our friends said, “You’ve got to be good to be that lucky!”

It’s an off-shoot of the good sportsmanship principle, designed to keep emotions in check. A player can celebrate, but there are limits. The bright-line rule is that if you’re facing your own bench, it’s celebrating. If you’re facing the other bench, or an opposing player, and say something, it’s taunting.

Absolutely!

But Burris didn’t help with his stunned look: “Was that a football?” Followed by “Not my fault - I ain’t chasing it!”

No doubt it was a booster - they were pumped coming onto the field. But it was the third year in a row one of the teams had home field advantage - home team won each of the last three Grey Cups.

I’d guess that the Rider fans in the stadium outnumbered the non-Rider fans by about 44,000 to 1,000. There were some Ti-cat fans sitting in front of us, and before the game, one of them looked around and said, awe-struck, “That’s a lot of Green!”

Totally! We didn’t go to the Grey Cup parade on Saturday, because it was -28 C before windchill! How it got up to freezing by game time, I do not know. And the next day, Monday, it was back to sub-zero! No-one seemed to mind, though…

Wasn’t like that at Taylor Field! 44,000 of our close personal friends stayed with me and Mrs Piper until the last award was given, the last piece of confetti had landed, and the stadium staff was taking down the signs and padding on the goal-posts. Then we all turned out onto Albert Street for a pleasant, low-key walk home.

I got this from my bud on FB so I was wondering if anyone’s up for a rip?

One of those guys looks a LOT like my brother.

And if I didn’t know better then I’d think the picture Cat Whisperer put up was his truck.

He’s pretty much the definition of redneck Albertan, but I love him.

Hey, that reminds me - did you ever find those “really impressive numbers” Rob Ford was talking about? You know, when you were talking about what a great guy he is?

Ah, now I understand. I’m unsure why, but I thought you were an alumnus of U of T. Thanks for the clarification!

Stack access: U of T Alumni Card $22.60/year

Stack access and borrowing privileges: U of T Alumni Reader Card $70 per year

Maybe he counted them when he was was in one of his “drunken stupors”[sup]TM[/sup], when he was seeing double ?

Really?

Am I quoted somewhere admiring Rob Ford?

(bolding mine)
I was responding to the bolded part of the post.

We must have sent you guys a chinook.

Through a padlocked fence to get to your cars, which you parked in the lot when the fence wasn’t padlocked and there were no indications you couldn’t park there? We were NOT impressed by that part of the Mosaic Field experience!

Very nice.

Figuring you for a kinky sort, that’s who we assumed that you meant when you indicated that you used to drive a Ford.

You mentioned (in this thread, I think) that he was quoting some “really impressive numbers” on his radio show. Do you want me to find your quote? You were going to try find the actual numbers.

No, I wouldn’t say you were admiring him, that would be unfair; however, you had commented on his fiscal record.

Sure. Find my quote.

You right, and I am wrong - you said Doug Ford, and I remembered it as Rob Ford.

However, did you ever find those numbers? You know, can you provide a cite?

Well, to be fair, “A billion dollars” is a pretty impressive fiscal number.

Nobody said that it was an ACCURATE fiscal number, but it’s pretty impressive in a “made up fantasy BS” sort of way.

Can you please find my quotes on this topic?

I’m having a hard time remembering supporting Doug Ford, and what numbers are you talking about?

I would like to see my quotes. I’m not without fault, but could you please be more specific?

Thanks.
