I loved it, although there’s nothing particularly Canadian about it.
So, we’re supposed to get 10 - 15 cm of white shit tomorrow.
It’s the bloody middle of April!
{Looks out window, sees snow falling heavily}
I second that emotion.
:eek:
Snow day today. Well, more like freezing rain day.
I heard it hitting the windows in the wee hours, surfed the net for a bit, sent a vacation message to work and rolled over and went back to sleep: till now!
Ahhhhh…
I think I might have to go out later for beer.
And they wonder why Canadians drink - just refer them to this thread and the one on all the snow in 24 hours!
Yeah, I just got back from my beer/grocery run. The rural roads are a mess with 4 to 6 inches of ultra-heavy wet slushy crap.
I passed a car in the ditch on the way there, and another in the ditch on the way back using two different routes. I was driving at 40 kph, with new snow tires this year and thought I might get sucked into the shoulder vortex. Then someone came up behind me and I started pushing it to 50 kph, but by then the roads were a bit better traveled and I could follow the ruts.
Beer time!
… And they’ll wonder why we don’t drink more.
Good point.
So, I just started reading a very interesting book - Let The Eastern Bastards Freeze In The Dark: The West Versus The Rest Since Confederation. I thought Western Alienation was a fairly modern thing, but it turns out that we’ve been alienated since confederation. Whee! ![]()
Environment Canada is forecasting a snowfall of 10 to 25 cm here in southern Alberta.
Thankfully, I hit the local liquor store today, after doing the weekly groceries. So, I’m prepared, both food-wise and booze-wise.
I am worrying about the tulips, which are already sprouting in the back garden, and who don’t drink. Well, not alcohol.
Well, we’ve had the snow, the freezing rain, and then the rain. I had to get my parka out again on Thursday, I was afraid my new computer wouldn’t be delivered. (It came. at 10:45 in the morning, even. Thanks, UPS!) And then on Friday I looked out to see the dreaded White Stuff.
However.
It looks like the worst is over here in Oshawa. According to the weather forecast, it’s supposed to reach 17 degrees!!! here on Monday! And be only partly cloudy! The further forecast has no temperatures dipping below freezing, even for the lows.
Can it be? Is winter here almost over?
:: crazed hopeful look ::
We’re into double digits during the day in Ottawa all next week too.
And the Leafs are going to make the playoffs this year.
Considering all the crap I’ve dealt with in the last few months, these small miracles keep me going.
Maybe where you are. I’m looking at about two feet of snow on the back deck.
Spring will come, I know. I guess winter just had to have one more try.
Anyone else remember this Cherry Blossom commercial?
It’s always the first thing I hear in my head whenever somebody says ‘Cherry Blossom’. Sounds like someone trying to imitate Lighthouse…
Predigested candy.Yuk.
Had some terrific skiing over the weekend. Heaps and heaps of snow since last night, and it’s still snowing. Bit of rain and a bit of snow for the coming week, so the ski season isn’t over yet, which is a good thing, for the bays south of town are frozen over all the way to the border, and rivers are still iced up, so it’s not paddling season yet.
Well, looks like spring is here in Montreal. Supposed to have double-digit temperatures over the next few days.
Enzymes are used all over the food production industry.
Yeah, that’s the same as the ‘Caramilk secret’ - typically invertase, or some other enzyme that converts disaccharides that are solid at room temperature to monosaccharides that are liquid or at least very soft.
