Remember when I was bitching about the Federal Government turning me into a self-employed temp? We’re on Day Two of trying to get our taxes filed - being a self-employed temp has apparently broken the tax software.
I always thought that they poured the top chocolate layer into a mold and pressed out the impression with a stamp, then further down the line would have poured the caramel into the impressions, then poured the ‘bottom’ layer of chocolate over the caramel. Anyways, I’m now craving a chemically created chocolate bar. Off to the 7-11!
If you’re tired of bad news, check out these newborn Red River hoglets! They look like fuzzy little watermelons with legs. ![]()
Cute. I love how they all lay down in parallel at the end.
Now I’m thinking about BBQ. Off to the Siu Mei shop for some Char Siu!
I liked the little guy jumping around on all four feet (or trotters, I guess they are).
Uzi, that wasn’t quite the reaction I was aiming for. ![]()
Bacon!
If you grab thier feet would that be pulled pork? Cute vid , CW.
I’m kinda surprised that no one has mentioned Justin Trudeau in this thread yet.
Are we all pussyfooting around the issue?
What are your thoughts?
I think he’s inexperienced and would make a terrible Prime Minister. I’m not trying to be partisan, but this isn’t who I want representing Canada at, for example, G8 meetings: you know?
How would it look if Ben Mulroney were elected to lead the Conservatives? Because that would almost be the same situation to me.
Justin Trudeau? The guy we know about only because of his father? Is he still around? If the Liberal party run him for pm, then it just confirms my opinion that they are only interested in power, rather than doing the right thing (or what they might consider the right thing).
Pssst. He was just elected as leader of the Liberal party of Canada.
I think if the Canadian public elects Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister, we will get the government we deserve. No, I do not think he would be a good leader. I think he has been elected as leader of the Liberals because of his looks and his name.
I am very glad I now live in HK.
Rita MacNeil has died at the age of 68.
Which makes Harper the guy does the right things and totally not interested in power, right?
Correct. The Conservatives didn’t choose the guy just because of his hair and father in the hopes that will lead them to victory.
There didn’t seem to be much point in bringing it up. It’s not like it’s a mystery to anyone here, or to anyone in Canada. 80% support means that he not only won the leadership, but that he appeals to a significant majority of party members. While I would have voted for Marc Garneau or George Takach for their positions on science issues, in the end, I voted for Justin Trudeau.
The surprise for me about Justin Trudeau’s leadership campaign has been his willingness to build the party from the grass roots up.
I’m amused by the Cons attack ads - inadvertently, they’ve shown that Justin participates in charity events such as Movember and What A Girl Wants, they’ve shown that they will use video clips without authorization from the owner of the clip (in this case, the Huffington Post, who did not and probably would not have given permission.) and amusingly, they’ve shown that Justin looks great with his shirt off.
As an aside, I’d love to see Canada universally adopt the innovation that was on the Liberal leadership ballot - all the candidates were listed in alphabetical order, and you ranked them in order of preference. You did not have to vote for more than one, and you did not have to vote for them all. Votes were then weighted, so that a first choice was worth more than a second, third or seventh. Sadly, this will never happen while the Cons are in power…

RIP Rita - a lovely voice and a lovely person.
What about his experience as a white-water rafting instructor?
(Yes, I saw the new Tory attack ad last night.)
Is PM Harper interested in power? Of course he is - that’s not much of an insult to call a politician interested in power. That’s like calling water wet.
Is PM Harper the guy who does the right things? I don’t agree with all of his policies, but so far so good, as far as I can tell.
What exactly does that mean? He’s seemed pretty hostile to prairie grass roots (with his insulting comments about Alberta); I’m not aware of his other grass roots building.
I will say this; I wish to hell the Federal Conservatives would knock off their mud-slinging campaigns, and I’ve wished that for a long time now. They’re just embarrassing. If you have good policies, I don’t think you need to engage in the lowest form of politicking.
