The Case of the Missing MMP

At HouDopeFests we sometimes have a sign that says The Adams Family. (As in Cecil Adams? Get it? <snerk>)

The big weekend is upon us! Dad is moving in. My brother is coming in from Denver today, and I’ll pick him up at 5:00. (Woo-hoo! Leaving work early!) I’m off tomorrow, and have a dr appt at 10:45. I will be getting the results of my blood tests - including viral load. I’m anxious about that…

The house is fairly clean, and I made stew last night for dinner tonight. I’m excited! Company’s coming! LOL - I know I’m goofy.

I hope everyone’s in good spirits and feeling ok.

Gah. One day home sick, and I miss waaaaaay too much.

Every one of my men is sickie. Husband had to have a tooth pulled. Baby Cherry has a cold. Boy Wonder has a sore throat and is home today with Grandmother. Girlene is hale and hearty as far as I know. So am I!

I’m wearing one of my new Target Shoes – well, one pair. I am pleased to note they are actually leather! I Did Not Know That when I bought them.

li-li, you’ve posted your pic several times here. I would recognize you easily. But wear the clothes anyway cause you will look cool.

rosey, I had a horrible night’s sleep myself. First off I stayed up to watch a Carnegie Hall Presentation of South Pacific on PBS. The female lead is a country singer (sorry, I don’t know who) and I started out thinking how wrong that was but was won over by her charm. I made myself go to bed at 10:30 which is way past my bedtime and then I tossed and turned all night. :frowning:

My “mighty mouse” scroller isn’t working and it’s making me MAD! Calling IT wizard! Calling IT wizard!

rigs, from what I’ve heard, you should check out the seller’s feedback and also DO NOT go outside of the e-bay site to transact the sale. That’s all I got.

Tupug

shiver sniffle die
'nother sick day. I’m going to fail all my classes.

At least the dog’s leaving me alone (so far) today. I’ve got a lovey cat on the desk and that makes life happier.

Today must be Thursday. I never could quite get the hang of Thursdays. I was unproductive yesterday. Hopefully I’ll have time to make up for it today. I don’t have much time right now, I’ll have to check in later. Here’s today’s Vegetable:

Hello all! I wasn’t feeling well yesterday, so I stayed home. I cruised the Dope for about 15 minutes, but I don’t remember posting.

Li-Li, say hello to the welbys!

I have nothing exciting to report or add. I’ve been racking my brain, but I can’t come up with anything.

I’ll try to check in later.

the dictators here have now declared that if personal phone calls (except for emergencies) continue, our phones will be taken away. What’s next, our radios/iPods/CD players? the Internet? rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

 :frowning:  WTF? It sounds like they’re treating you like chattel. That’s just friggin’ ridiculous. How the hell are you supposed to do your jobs without a phone?

technically, we’re not a call center group, so theorectically, they could set up a central desk for in & out business calls; we’d have to take turns

I should state that each of us, on occasion, have abused the priviledge; but the ones who ruined it for the rest of us are either the “loud talkers” or the ones who got caught (like I did  yesterday around 4pm)

“No no no, just feed the dog, the usual stuff, and move the wash over into the --” boss walks in “-- why yes, thank you for your help on the Johnson account. Buh-bye.”

It could work.

Thanks for the good thoughts and dark chocolate everyone! I’m feeling a bit better today. I got 2 in-house moving estimates which I’m happy with. And one of the moving guys who came to give me an estimate was HOT.

Now I just have to make a decision on which company to go with. That’s the hard part, especially when the prices are close, and they’re major national companies so aren’t likely to be ripping me off. Oh well.

My parents should be home tonight so I can finally tell them about the job and the move and can schedule a flight out with Mom and the cat. (Dad’s driving my car out with some boxes and the plants.) But I need to make sure that Mom is planning to fly out with me before I schedule the flight, and I haven’t been able to reach them at all. Grr… frustrating. They really really need a cell phone.

Hope you’re feeling better **Dot **and **Taters **and anyone else who’s sick.

Good luck finding the welbys Lissla! I’ve always found people ok when meeting other Dopers so you’ll find them somehow.

Now my only major frustration is that people still aren’t returning my phone calls at work. WHY wouldn’t you return a business phone call?? I wish I had something to threaten them with, but aside from wishing bad phone kharma on them, there’s nothing I can do about it.

:sticks head out of water: I am soooooooooooo swamped it’s not even funny. I have to no time for anything. One of my friends is having some major domestic troubles and god help me but I kind of feel like “Couldn’t you wait until next week?”

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Off to Kinko’s to make copies of something!

Drink lots of water and chicken broth, Dot. And here’s a peanut butter brownie :stuff through cd drive: That will make you feel better. Go to bed with a good book, and don’t worry about your classes. Snuggle the cat.

Hugs to the boy Cherries and rosie, because they’re feeling yucky.
I’m hoping welby’s seen pics of me. He’s around so intermittently that I’m not sure. I have never seen any pics of him. All the sign ideas are cute.
Good afternoon! Which do you think is worse nutritionally: tea with three teaspoons of sugar, or tea with cream?

Oh Lissla, a peanut butter brownie sounds divine. Could you shove one my way?

Sure.

:Shoves through cd drive:

I’d have to say tea with sugar is worse; because in tea with cream, you at least get a bit of calcium and vitamin D

Dot: I honestly don’t care if this dog craps and pisses all over Mandy’s bed. (In fact, very few things would make me happier.) And it’s not the type of cats she had, it’s the type of people her and her ChildHusband are. It’s re-dic-u-lous that people like them can breed without supervision or special permits.

taxi good luck with the move. I’ve been told that, in amounts of stress generated, it ranks right up there with the death of a close family member. But once it’s ver, you’ll be happier, so you got that going for you.

I thought that I was going to go out after work last night night for a few Yuenglings, but decided to just stick around the house and grind through a couple of chapters of the Neal Stephenson book I’m reading. It’s the last one in his Baroque cycle, and I’m having a good time with it.

So my mother confirmed today that they’re moving to the middle of frickin’ nowhere, Pennsylvania. ::sigh:: I know I’m moving away from them so they’re not going to be right nearby any more, but I do wish they’d considered this a little more carefully. They want this to be the final move forever and ever, so they picked a retirement community where they have assisted living and a nursing home so theyr’e all set. Except that there’s no frickin’ way for me to get to them in an emergency, which will happen as they get older. They’re not close to the nearest airport, which is still a small one so no direct flights from the Twin Cities. At best it’ll take me 1/2 a day to get to them in an emergency. That’s just not good. And what happens when they get to the point of needing me to make medical, legal, and financial decisions?? I’ve watched them take care of parents and an uncle, and they needed to be physically there pretty regularly. I won’t be able to do that with them not just far away, but no where near a major airport. And I’m the only child so it all falls on me. GAH! They want to make long-term (rest of life) plans, but didn’t think about this stuff. I’m just really frustrated about that, especially since they’ve been through the aging parent thin - they’ve even started a group to discuss these issues - and seem to be missing a big piece of the puzzle.

That and I’m going to miss them a lot not being able to see them more than a couple times a year. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
