The Choice of the Democratic Party

Nonsense – he may or may not have beat all comers in rural areas of at most 3 states, because those are the only ones that have voted. But I’d have to ask you to pony up a cite that even that happened, that he beat Hillary in rural areas of Iowa, NH and NV.

What you probably mean is that Obama has polled higher in some rural areas in some states. But polls ain’t elections.

Yeah you guys had it really bad…

Free love, lots of drugs until you got older whereupon you decided it had to stop.
All for the left until you actually started to make money in the 80’s and decided to borrow money from the future (my generation)

We’re hobbled with your pessimism and bad choices yet can’t outlive it because you won’t let it go lest you become irrelevant.

The “Me” generation indeed.

Tough row to hoe. Notice that my generation is the first to be less well-off than that of our parents? And we have a guy who wants to change it but we can’t because a bunch of people want to relive feminism and their stupid ghosts? Yes I’m bitter.

I think the OP is not bitching and moaning simply b/c her candidate lost, I think she’s pointing out that she, as well as a lot of younger folks, have much less tolerance for these “career politician” moves and techniques, very obvious in the Clinton campaign, that a lot of people seem to be brushing off or ignoring because “it’s politics”. I don’t like the idea that negative campaigning, constant equivocating, etc. are foregone conclusions. This is mainly why Obama appeals to me- at least he’s TRYING to break the mold. I think it says a lot about how Clinton and Obama will treat the position of President. Clinton will, I believe, echo her campaign technique, and “play the political game” in order to get her agenda across. There are a lot of people who think this is the only way to get things done. I’m not so sure that’s true, but I’d sure like to hear a message of personal integrity before anything else. I think that’s exactly what our country needs- a LEADER as opposed to simply a PRESIDENT. I’d really like a president I can be proud of on the world theatre. Us young ones, we’ve never had that!

This being said, I am a big Obama fan, but I can’t say I’d vote for Clinton over McCain. I respect McCain a lot more, despite the fact that I’m not so crazy about many aspects of the Republican agenda.

If Barack Obama is really such a great leader than why aren’t people following him? Having a great vision is nice but it doesn’t get the job done. I still believe that Clinton would actually accomplish more as President that Obama would.

Uh, guys, you are aware that Obama got 13 delegates to Clinton’s 12, right? She got the majority of the vote, but I don’t think she’s going to get a lot of momentum from this.

And that worked out so well for America, didn’t it?

–George W. Bush, Dec. 13 2000

If some remain uninspired by Obama’s talk of change, it may be because Bush said the exact same things, and he turned out to be a colossal fuckup. The independents who voted for him were wrong.

[nitpick] Everyone who voted for him was wrong. Everyone. This ain’t like when his father took the reins and “mistakes were made” this was a shocking cock up of Biblical proportions. [/nitpick]

Well, that’s all fine and good. Be disgusted with the status quo, more power to you (the collective “you”). But people from that generation have traditionally not turned out in numbers that matter, so get off your butt (the collective “butt”) and get some of your countrymen out to the polls! Enough bitching on message boards, get out there and make a difference. The nomination is currently Obama’s to lose, and his supporters should be busting their balls (the collective… oh, nevermind) to make that happen.

Y’all chill. Your candidate is not on the ropes yet. He’s expected to clean her clock in South Carolina. We’re in this for a few more news cycles before a clear winner emerges.

I doubt that there’s a politician out there who can beat Clinton but he stands a better shot at it than any of the Republicans.

On the upside, should Obama happen to be elected and turn out to be exactly like Bush, we can say godbye to the cult of personality in presidential candidates. Nobody’ll trust the charmers then, they’ll be more interested in the message and candidate’s stances.

Don’t kill my dreams!

Obama also leads the overall delegates 38 to 36 too.

SC should be interesting and I doubt even Super Tuesday will settle this thing for good. But I know I’ll be casting my vote for Obama when the time comes.

I’m the same age as Obama. So if you wanna call your boy an old fogey like me, just step up to the plate. You whippersnappers don’t remember another agent of change, John Anderson (IIRC through my alheimers). I do remember a freshman year college roommate that said the same shit about John Anderson that most of you say about Obama with the same fervor and born again apostate glow. You know what, I don’t agree with you, in fact I disagree. That doesn’t make me aged or a facist or a nazi, it makes me an American voter and believer in the democratic process.

I’m not a democrat and my tax bracket makes me a republican turncoat, but I will vote for whomever wins the demo ticket, be it animal, vegetable or mineral. That said, Obama supporters like many in this thread are alienating potential converts with this “my way or the highway” and “any fucking moron on earth can tell that the righteous glow that emanates from Obama’s shit makes him light years better than any one else since Jimi Hendrix first picked up an electric guitar.” Puhleeeese, argue your candidate on his merits and not his deification. That’s all, thanks for playing

I’d just like to point out that if those Baby Boomers (and many others before them) hadn’t fought those “ridiculous” fights, there would be no presidential hopes at all for Barack Obama, or for Hilary Clinton. You might want to read up on those “stupid struggles in the 60’s.”

Frankly, as a Baby Boomer, were I less strong-willed and more on the fence, your petulant little diatribe just might convince me not to vote for Obama. I’m still considering him–on those days when I can think at all at my age–but you really haven’t done much here to advance his cause.

Where are you getting this?

I voted for Bill Clinton twice and thought he was a pretty good president. Eight years of peace and prosperity and balanced budgets speak well for his leadership. But I will never say another good thing about him again and would not vote for his wife under any circumstance. It was Bill’s indiscretions that made the election, however rigged, of George W. Bush possible. If it wasn’t for Bill’s insatiable sexual appetite, we wouldn’t be in Iraq right now. Now he is completely trashing his reputation in his new role as hatchet man for his wife. The Clintons are running a filthy campaign against Obama, worthy of Karl Rove himself. I can only hope that enough people see the light before we’re stuck with this bitch as a nominee. If it’s Clinton vs. McCain, count me among the Democrats For McCain. Clinton vs. any other GOP, and I leave the top of the ballot blank.

Obama, Romney & FDR aren’t bitches.

John Edwards, on the other hand…

Interesting. Would you recommend this for all Democratic voters? Even if it results in President Romney, or (shudder) President Huckabee? Ironically, anger at Bill’s indiscretion will help elect another Republican as surely as it did in 2000.

No, I don’t want to see any Republican win, save McCain vs. Clinton. I’d prefer her to Chucklebee or Romney, but I refuse to cast a ballot for her.

Excellent! As a person who lives in a country with mandatory service in the army for men over the age of 18 (and soon for women, too), does that mean I can finally stop hearing about the retro-reformers who wants to bring Norway back to the seventies?
