Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 30 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and sunny for the day. We’re predicted to get rain this evenin’ and a coolish Sattidy. By Moanday temps are supposed to warm up into the 70s. We shall see.
Today I get to travel to the lower southwest forty. I hate this trip. No way to do it but down two lane state highways. It’s looooooong and boooooorrrrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggggg! Still it must be done. Gotta get folks enrolled in services, alas. I do get to see one of my favorite persons, so there’s that. Really, he’s a super great guy and it’s always fun to get to visit with him a bit.
For those who may care…
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!
I ordered some chawklit covered strawberries just cause and shall pick ‘em up this afternoon on the way home from irk. Also have a bottle of champagne chillin’ in da beerator. So, steak, sallit, baked N.O.T., chawklit covered strawberries, and champagne for dindin. Actually I’m thinkin’ sippin’ champagne whilst in the hottub tonight. Hey, it’s Valentine’s Day and it’ll be Firday evenin’. Why not get a little frisky.
Also, Moanday is a holliday! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Ok, now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, purtification for irk must commence.
I have a tickle in my throat that just wont go away. GAH! I also have a contentious irk meeting in about an hour. I just can’t make people do stuff. I dont have the authority. I sense a yelling at in front of alot of people either at me or at them. sigh I ain’t worried about it that much. It is not my fault. I have handed these people directions a 2 yr old could follow and apparently that wasn’t detailed enough.
/valley girl voice on/ What everrrr! /valley girl voice off/
Executive decision made and executed. I’m not going in today. I just went out and looked at my driveway (OK, out meaning standing in the door of the garage) and it’s all ice down to the road. Ain’t no way I’m backing out on that mess, and the sun won’t hit it to start melting it for several more hours. So I logged into work remotely, did my time card, and emailed my boss that I won’t be coming in. If he logs in remotely, he’ll get the email.
Meanwhile, we’ll see if sun and slightly warmer temps will clear the driveway without the assistance of a shovel. And I need a shower. So off to the bathroom I go!!
Well, Mick Jagger’s problem was that he couldn’t get no satisfaction. It’s a double negative. That whole song was just a desperate plea for people to stop satisfying him.
For some reason, this is my favorite thing I’ve heard all week.
Had to stomp down about six inches of snow just to get my car door to open this morning. Then I used the backup camera to pull out into the plowed area and cleaned the car off there. Nobody else in the building is leaving today, and the plow guy will come back this afternoon, anyway.
Winchester remembered that two days ago, the snowbank was nice and firm up top and held his weight. So he tried to jump up again today. And then he pouted because I laughed at him when he sank two feet.
Today is my last day before my house-hunting vacation next week. So excited!! I got most of my packing done last night because I was bored to tears. Also played three hands of gin rummy against the dog. I won two of them.
Bah! Humbug!
Up, caffeianted, off to work. I’m off tomorrow.
There’s a marker in Vicksburg, Mississippi where regiments from Missouri fought each other during the Civil War(or the War of Northern Aggression, depending on who you ask. ;))
Drae, Gordie was confused b the ice crust, too. Maggie Wonderbeagle used to beat me at 5 card draw poker
Anyone interested in a White [del]Christmas[/del] Valentine’s Day? I’m running out of room to put the stuff; it’s 3-4’ high along the side of the driveway.
I’ll ship it to you.
Mumpers keep offerin’ me snow, but none’s arrived. I’ve still just got the windy rain. Is there some kind of international shipping ban?
Tomorrow, I shall have ALL the blurf. I’m working tonight, (prob’ly at a wedding), which will finish sometime around 1-1.30 am, at a place 30 minutes away, then I have to be at a stoopid unpaid training day that I don’t wanna do anyway at 9am. I can never just fall straight asleep when I get back late, so I shall be corpselike tomorrow.
I actually like that venue, and it seems to be the only one I get offered first, and there’s not going to be anything else this weekend, so I couldn’t afford to say no.
Anyway, I’m trying to bake cakes today- I’m waiting with interest to see if my giant Lego cakes will work
We ran some errands - the roads are all clear and some are even drying, but our driveway is still ice. I probably could have gone to work today, but I didn’t want to so I didn’t.
Gonna make a new crab stencil today. Maybe some other stuff, too. We’ll see how it goes.
If any of the contests involve the cones, I would avoid them. It may sound like a good idea at the time but that shall pass; I’m not too sure about the cones.
It snowed again last night and was very windy and cold.
Today the sun is shining, the roads are clear, the HFH is out.
It’s 35 degrees so everything is melting, and then it will freeze tonight.
I think I am staying in today. My friend didn’t answer her phone this am and I know she wants me to come over but she is still pretty busy with her daughter and now her grandson is sick too. She is supposed to take her daughter back to the doctor tonight to get all the packing out but she wanted to go earlier even if it means they have to wait because once the sun goes down the roads will freeze.
Dinner is out because OAOASO drives a snow plow and he has been working all day driving a truck and all night driving a plow, I expected this.
I have things to do around here anyway. The bathroom floor needs to be mopped and I have more paper irk to finish up, some dishes to wash. Sah-dog needs his daily ear cleaning and an eye washing as well. He needs a good nail trimming but nobody will help me and it’s a 2-3 person job. He screams like he is being murdered and gets snappy.
We have a neighborhood around here called Piney Orchard. Expensive neighborhood, but every time I hear the name I think pine yrees grow in groves, not orchards. It’s supposed to be an nice neighborhood but I had a client over there, the guy across the street was arrested as a drug kingpin. My client said everybody in the neighborhood knew something was wrong, he and his wife didn’t work and they were paying cash for everything. The man two doors up from my client tried to kill his baby daughter by drowning her in the bathtub because he didn’t want his soon to be ex-wife to get custody. There was some other crime thing going on there as well. So much for ‘exclusive’ neighborhoods.
I’ve finally finished ironing all the towels - whew, what a job!! Next, I need to make a new crab stencil, so I need to find a picture on line that will make a good stencil. Oh, it’s such a chore to be me!!! <insert pose of woe>
Speaking of neighborhood names, the last place we lived in FL was called Hickory Glen. There were, of course, no hickory trees, and being flat, flat Florida, there was no glen either. Our current neighborhood is called Helen Estates - the “town” (??) where we live is called Helen, altho the post office is now gone and it’s merely the name of this little lump of the county. And Estates? I dunno - our yards are pretty big, but estates??? Seems a bit pretentious.
The ice on the driveway is all melted - now it’s just wet. So yay. Temp is up to 45° and the sun is out, so yay for that too. Now I want lunch. Time to forage.
I live on the backside of a supposed subdivision called Highland Oaks. There is one, count 'em, one oak tree.
Back from the southwest forty. ‘Twas a productive trip but I’s tahrd. Two hours and thirty minutes roundtrip and two hours of meetin’/paperirk can wear a bear out.

Some years back, the Northern California Renaissance Faire was being held at a place in Vacaville called The Nut Tree. At least that name was accurate. The whole place had pretty much just one tree in the middle of a barren field. Being hot, dusty and generally inhospitable to life was only icing on the cake. We un-fondly refer to that venue as Vacahell.
Why hello everyone. I’m in an internet café trying to get used to the English keyboard. Heh. I’m pretty busy today but I have about an hour to kill so I came here.
It’s opening night for my show tonight! You know what you say in French for good luck, the equivalent of “break a leg”? “Merde!” It means “shit!” but it’s actually the polite thing to say.
An old friend of mine involved in the show asked me to make sugar cookies for opening night so I did so at home early this morning while singing songs from the show. I was a bit late to class, but that was partially the bus’s fault (it’s very snowy here.) Then I had lunch at a local mall, took the bus to the subway, and rode the subway here. I fell asleep in the subway. Oh well. Hehe. Helping my sleep deprivation a little.
