I have a hankerin’ for Chinese food, but I’m just having some leftover soup. **FCD **didn’t want any dinner, so I’m not cooking. Oh well…
Lazy day today. Been laying around reading for most of the day. It’s time to get up though and figure out dinner.
Happy Birthday NUTS
I have been remiss!

It’s still Sattidy in Merrye Olde Englande, so this counts.
Umm… it’s still just over an hour from being my birthday yet, but thanks!
Today was as blurfy as expected- had about 2 hours sleep, and had to sit through 6 hours of exeedingly tedious training, that no-one, including the teacher, could really be bothered with. It’s compulsory, and that’s the only reason anyone was there. I was so tired, I could barely focus when I got home- at least they had a coffee machine set up or I reckon I would have crashed out there.
I was feeling better after a bit of a rest though, and cake mk 2 has been made, though not iced, and does bear a passing resemblace to a Lego brick, as intended. It doesn’t look like someone sat on it either, unlike mk 1.
Stoopid course finishes tomorrow mornin’, but I should have time for cake icin’ before I’m off down the pub for a celebratory games night. I’m having an early night to make sure I’m a little more with it.
One chore knocked off: the recyclables have been cashed in.
Still gotta get on the laundry and taxes, and I can’t decide which is going to be worse. I know we don’t owe any money this year (I’ve run this once already, but need to do a verify run, since I’m not sure I trust my results), but it’s still a PITA, especially since this year I have to use longer forms, not those lovely EZ ones.
I’ve been working on fixing…that means “repairing”, Rosie…the retaining wall that fell. It took a while to remember how to mix mortar, and I did not get very much done. I was a lot better at this when I was in my twenties. I hurt all over.
It was supposed to hit 50F today. I had the A/C on the car; it had heated up in the sun.
And just how do two reasonable-size adults manage to generate 3-4 loads of clothing a week?
This is why I don’t give out my birthday. ![]()
We do laundry every evening. It is easier to do a days dirty clothes a day.
Up from my nap and I feel a blurf.
I long for Summer so that we can have the fan-tons.
Cheesteaks and fries were good. I also baked a small ham and readied some scalloped N.O.T. for N.O.L. tomorrow. That and some green vegitation will make for a good post deheathenization N.O.L. Plus also, Monday night is men’s night over to the church house so I have steaks marinatin’. Plus, plus also, I ahrned some shirts. GO ME!
That means it’s your birthday now, so…

Happy Nuts Day!!!
Sigh.
The lazy day turned quite busy trying to get hubby ready for his week long trip to San Fran. We had roasted chicken, baked sweet taters, pasta salad and baked beans. 'Twas
good and will get us by til the next one. The bottle of wine was good too.
We watched the USA vs Sweden women’s curling games. Interesting. I must learn the history of this game. I like it.
We walked the dog and cat and I did it in nothing but my bathrobe :p. The weather is absolutely gorgeous. Current temp is around 78 which is enough to have a/c on.
Hubby is being picked up at 330 am by the airport shuttle since he’s flying from FLL. Shuttle ride will be almost as long as the flight across country. I can’t wait for my upcoming week alone except for the critters. I told him as much. Absence does make the heart grow fonder. Bless his heart he even came home today with a heart shaped box of Candy saying it was on sale.Score.
Happy birthday Nuts.
I’m just back from the wine and nibblements at church. Most times I’ve just brought cheese and crackers, along with a bottle of wine, but this time I wanted to really MAKE something.
So I made spanokapita. a Greek pastry. The filling is chopped spinach, onion, feta cheese, egg, a little olive oil and a dash of salt. You put a couple teaspoons on a double strip of filo pastry, (which has been spread with melted butter) and fold it up like a flag, into a little triangular package. Then baste the outside with more melted butter, and put them in the oven to bake until crispy brown.
The wine I bought was from Crete. There was a local liquor store that has an extensive selction of wines, and they did have just a few from Greece, so I picked a white wine. It was okay, and several people told me they liked it, but I don’t think I’ll buy it again. I prefer sweet wines and this was just not quite what I prefer.
We all vote for the wine and food items we liked best. I was pleased when a sparkling wine that I’d really enjoyed won for favorite wine. I wrote down the name and bottler so I can find some more, as I REALLY liked it.
And, uh, yours truly won for the favorite food item. So I don’t have to track anybody down to get the recipe. But the couple that brought the wine that won I will track down because the food item they brought was pralines that are to die for.
you walked the cat?
Our cat goes to walk every time the dog does. She lags behind and charges ahead then lags behind. Since it’s a full moon she is extra frisky tonight.
Baker that Spano stuff sound yummy.
“this is my blood, and these are my nibblets…”
Good stuff! ![]()
In The Guns of Navarone, Alistair MacLean mentions Greek wine that is “resinous”, whatever that means.
I thought perhaps she let the dog and cat out at the same time.
Pereus and Andromeda (Ginny to others ) won’t go outside, having been rescued from a dumpster at the peak of the Persid meteor shower.
