The cold Monday morning MMP

Must be a storm a-comin’ I ache all over and had a bad sleep. BLURF.

Did you guys see today’s *Spiderman *comic?

“J. Jonah Jameson has gone mad with power and is determined to destroy our hero! Looks like it’s time for Spidey to use his greatest power: running away! THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!!!”

I can’t wait to see what The Comics Curmudgeon does with this. He’s ensured that I will never have any respect for Not Our Spidey as superhero.

The roads were dry this morning, but we’re supposed to be what my Sainted Mom called “precipitated upon” tonight. There aren’t enough people here to justify my presence and won’t be tomorrow. I’d better get a call tonight saying “don’t bother coming in” because Polly Subaru has maybe 6 inches of snow clearance, tops. She is just a li’l Outback after all.

That is his comment that I posted.

Allstate is going to pay us $1,500 for the wall, based on what they would have to pay an engineer to study the situation.
Given a 30’ long, 2.5’ diameter trunk, and the density of oak, 1,260 pounds hit the neighbor’s house. Probably twice that, considering the limbs. Over a ton of tree whacked the house, and the shock wave was carried into the ground by the foundation and knocked over the wall.
If I argue about it, they will pay the money to an engineer who will come up with what ever they want.

Oh dearest? Oh darling? Just because you like movies with gladiators in them doesn’t mean you could be in a movie as one. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not if you don’t untie him, he can’t. What? You’ve never heard of safewords? Maybe “stew” is some sort of code!

How long are you taking off work for recovery? I only ask because my co-worker had her gall bladder out last week, expected to be back yesterday, and ended up taking this week too. Apparently, when she called her doctor today, he was like “Of course you shouldn’t go back to work yet.” So take two weeks.

My cow-orker took a week I believe, perhaps two.
Barely noticed that she was gone.

Well, I plan on resuming work as soon as I’m off the narcotics (prob Wednesday), but I have the option of working from home, which I intend to take. So, I’ll be working Thursday and Friday, but I won’t be back at the orifice until Monday the 24th.

A belated Happy birthday, Doggio!

Back from AZ. It was warmer there than in CA. In fact, the last night they turned on the AC as apparently the boy can’t fall asleep if it’s more than 75F.

I came home yesterday and found out that it had been raining the entire time I was gone. As in, it was raining when the boy (different boy) drove to the airport to get me.

Now I’ll have to figure out this ‘work’ thing again.

I am sick, day two

Whine, whine, blurf

Jim

Came home early since it was once again slower than molasses flowing uphill. May not go in tomorrow if the numbers don’t change. 34% occupancy generally means it ain’t worth coming in. Wasn’t worth coming in today, but Detailed AGM’s convinced himself we’re going to get a ton of walkins. All the weather’s staying SE of us so I doubt it.

Happy Toosday!

It’s cold.

I overslept today, although I can on Moondays and Toosdays. Is it really oversleeping if you don’t have to get up?

Not a pleasant morning, the HFH was being her usual (expletive) self.

She is supposed to be moving out by March 1. I’ll believe it when I see it, but if she is out before I am I am going to cook a big dinner (homemade manicotti) and buy a couple of bottles of champagne.

Howdy from da cave! Yes, da cave. I left the southeast forty and headed here instead of the orifice. I am acutally irkin’ however. I just uploaded a buncha paperirk stuff to the state orifice. I made the executive decision to do that from da cave just cause I can. ‘Tis a dreary, damp, chillish 46 Amurrkin out. Rain is gonna set in for real this evenin’ and tomorrow. At least it’s not ice/snow like the northern part of Jawja is gettin’/will get. Ye Olde Hometowne is under a WINTER STORM WARNING.

Homemade manicotti and champagne? Par-tay at Sari’s place!

Feel better Jim.

Nitpick, there were no gladiators in Ben-Hur. Quintus Arrius spoke of having men trained to fight, but Judah turned down his offer to be one of them.

I didn’t take any pain pills today. And I’m not in a whole lot of pain. So yay.

All this talk of Ben-Hur makes me want to watch Quo Vadis? again. I love that movie because Peter Ustinov chews all the scenery as Emperor Nero. Behold!

I didn’t make any of the phone calls today that I should have made yesterday.

We ordered pizza as today is pizza day. We ordered from Dominoes and I got an order of Chocolate Lava Cakes. Those things are rich, I usually eat less than half of one, the two cakes can last me 3 or 4 days, or my mother and I will share one.
Sah-son ate both of them in ONE sitting. How could he eat two of those at one time???!!!
He could have saved half of one for me.

Sahirrnee, is your son a teenager?

I’m friends with a local family. I make cookies for them each Christmas. A few years ago, the family ordered a few dozen of my cookies, plus the teenage boy of the family ordered an extra couple dozen for himself! :stuck_out_tongue:

OMGSNOWISCOMINGWHATAREWEGONNADOOOOOOOOO???

I got an email at work wanting emergency contact info - I’m assuming they’ve got a phone tree to call us and tell us not to come in. Whatever - if it’s too icky on Thursday, I’m staying home. Easy-peasy.

I’ve got a pot of veggie-beef soup simmering on the stove, and it’s smelling yummy. I had to stop on the way home for milk - not a french toast panic, just out of milk. I saw a package of stew meat reduced for quick sale, so that decided dinner. Plus there was enough meat that I froze enough for another pot o’soup some day in the future. So yay!

I did go to bed early last night - I think I was unconscious right about 8PM. I woke briefly shortly after midnight, and again around 3, and then around 4:30. I needed that sleep! So yay for sleep!

And shortly, we will go pick up our car after its oil change and new tires. Yay for new tires!

Happy Tuesday! Yay for Tuesday!!

He’s 18

But have you ever had a chocolate lava cake

They are chocolate like a brownie, with just a little bit of a crunch
but inside is ooey gooey melted chocolate that oozes out with every bite.

I’d be sick if I ate a whole one in one sitting let alone two.
I don’t know what to do. I got a call to let hellpup out tomorrow. My insurance and bonding are done, over, no more, they ran out yesterday.
I’m not paying $350 to get them renewed.
I told her last week that my insurance was running out.
They are nice people, I hate to let them down but they really need to find somebody else.
