The comedy Airplane! was released 30 years ago! Surely you can't be serious!

Pinch hitting for Pedro Borbon.

BTW, did you ever notice that when the ticket agent hands over the “smoking” ticket, Robert Hays has to look down because he’s about to crack up?

And something else, which I can’t take credit for because it was another poster who brought it to my attention. I haven’t seen Zero Hour, but this other poster was one of those who has. Now, in Airplane!, Ted has spent years beating himself up for a failed raid that left seven men dead, and apparently it’s the same in ZH. But in A!, when Dr. R. gives his pep talk, he tells how he was at George Zip’s deathbed, and Zip told him he didn’t regret anything because “The captain made the right decision.” And you can see Ted snap right out of his funk. Apparently, that line, and the reaction to it, were not in ZH. Ted never got that redemption, but good on ZAZ for letting him get it in A!.

Yes! Or the guy who Stryker is painting in the surrealistic war scene, untangling his leg from over his head and tossing aside the baby. :stuck_out_tongue:

I watched it this evening and even made proper popcorn (popped in oil, in a pot, on the stove, dammit and seasoned with salt and butter) to enjoy with it.

One question:

Has anyone ever tried staging it?

My!Scraps is a boy dog isn’t he.

This thread background is killing me.

I take my threads black…

…like my men.

That was spectacular. I haven’t seen anything of Zero Hour before. That’s like watching a movie, swearing you’ve seen it before, but can’t place where or how.

My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We’re bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We’re coming in from the north, below their radar.

Jim never reads messageboards at home…

I had the BIGGEST crush on her.

When are you coming back to this thread?

I can’t tell you that. It’s classified.

Shurely you’re joking!
To the tower! Rapunzel!

But it would never work out between you two, a long as you continue to live in the past.

Yes, this is Dr. Brody at the Mayo Clinic…

:: boing boing boing ::

Captain, how soon can you land this thread?

I can’t tell.

You can tell me, I’m a doctor.

No, I mean, I’m just not sure.

Gimme that issue of Nun’s Life.

Take a guess
