the completely hijackable MMP

Hee, Sticky. I don’t think I’ve ever owned any Hall & Oates (my brother was always the record buyer in the family and I’ve never caught up), but they have some amazing songs.

Can’t remember who it was who asked about 5 de mayo vs. Mexican Independence Day back there. 5 de mayo is the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, where the Mexicans defeated the French. Wikipediahas a pretty decent article. The 15th and 16th of September commemorate Father Miguel Hidalgo’s declaration of independence from Spain, which is considered the official beginning of Mexico’s War of Independence. The first couple of paragraphs of the linked article give you a pretty good idea of what it was about. Thus endeth our Mexican history lesson for today. (Not quite as exciting as the soap opera Los Caudillos, which is where I learned most of my Mexican history from that time.)

I’ve pruned the crabapple and a few of my containers. I was going to start planting the plants I collected from one of my friends, but there were too many mosquitos starting to come out. So early tomorrow.

I’ve also wandered to the grocery store and gotten some beer from the neighborhood carry-out.

Now I’ma curl up with a book and then crawl into bed. Yep…it’s a wild Saturday night chez GT.

Hugs.

TVMan and I went to the Hot Dog Shoppe for dinner and I just happened to have one pair of leftover hot dog earrings in the car so I gave them to our waitress.

GT, I’m still a moderate Hall and Oates fan, but I was crazy about them when I was younger. I think some of their best songs happened after their fame departed. I love Change of Season. Oh, ok, I guess my all time favorite is *Live at the Apollo *which was when they were big, but it’s just such an awesome album with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendrick (of The Temptations).

The Boys and I just got back from the fair. We did the usual fair things: ate greasy overpriced food, observed the natives, rode the swinging pirate ship (on which I freaked out much to The Boys amusement), saw the pigs and the cows and the donkeys and the chickens (no petting zoo :(). A good time was had by all.

{{{{{{everyone who needs one}}}}}

well, I’ve just been enjoying my new TV all day. I went out this morning to Costco and picked up a 32" LED flat screen to replace the analog CRT from 1995 that finally gave up the ghost. WBT carried it upstairs for me and even hooked it up. He warned me that without an HD cable box the picture would be a little fuzzy - it looks fine to me - and the sound could use a decent set of speakers - but for laying in bed and drifting off to, it’s just lovely. Eventually, I’ll upgrade the cable box and get speakers for it - but compared to the thin line of video, like the vertical hold had gone into 24 fps overdrive, this is marvelous.

Oh! and my quartet has been invited to perform at a gig we have next Sunday. Granted, the audience of Assisted Living Facility residents aren’t that discriminating, but still.

Morning. More work today. I did stop at the Greek Festival for food and beer on the way home last night.

Congrats, rosie!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated and purtified for deheathenization.

That’s all I got for now.

Yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, wedgies, kisses, how you doin’s, distributed as needed.

::ducks to escape a noogie::

Yay for the new TV and for the invatation to sing, as well, rosie.

Up. Trying to get motivated to get out there to divide the plants I picked up yesterday. It’s supposed to start raining around 2:00, so I really ought to get moving, but…still sleepy.

Back later…

GT

Good morning everyone.

I’m sitting here drinking awful coffee. We were out of coffee beans and I found a can of Yuban in the pantry. It it rather vile, but it’s caffiene.

Plans include laundry and a trip to the grocery store. That’s about it.

I’m pretty sure there was no aquatic yakuza here. The tanks are about 15 feet apart - think that’s too far for them to pass any notes.

IIRC, Gary Larson did two Far Side gags on that theme - one was the Fish Mafia giving a fish a new pair of styrofoam shoes and sending him to sleep with the humans, and then there was the Sandwich Mafia, up in the school heating ducts, sending an informant to sleep with the fourth graders.

Made it home last night finally. I have been a slug this morning. We have been for breakfast and that is about it. I am going to go get a pedicure aka my hooves trimmed as mr ems calls it. Then go pick up a box that was delivered to a store in the mall and that will be the extent of my day. Lazy bum that I am.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Hiya!!! Back from boating. It was pretty out there, but no air so no sailing. We motored up the Patuxent River a bit, then up Back Creek where we saw our old boat in its marina. We’re doing the lasagna tonight since daughter won’t be home for dinner tomorrow.

All that fresh air and sunshine kicked my butt… I think I’ll go knit for a while.

Busy day here - I have been at my mother’s place all day, she wanted me to look at some brochures for a holiday she wants to take next year to New Zealand. I posted a question on IMHO about what to do and see so I took her the answers from that and matched that up against the holidays she’d seen to find which one fulfilled most of the wish list. She’s nearly booked it, she has bagged the last spot on the trip and needs to wait for confirmation about flights and also wants to speak to the medical folks about travel insurance to see what they will and won’t cover her for given her age and suchlike.

We went out for lunch, did a little clothes shopping (I have three new tops for work!), went to do the grocery run (TP has been purchased) and I did some of the jobs she’d got at home for me.
I wasn’t sure how long it would take to get home tonight as the pope has been in Birmingham and that involved a lot of road closures and traffic nightmarage, but it was ok in the end. I had to call in at a friend’s house as I’m feeding the cat while they’re on holiday so I have topped up the cat feeding device and checked the place is ok. I have to call in again on Tuesday as the cat feeder only does 5 meals, I’m sharing the cat feeding job with someone else so I don’t have to go every time it needs topping up but so far everything is looking good.

Back home now, relaxing with a glass of wine and a couple of episodes of True Blood before bedtime rolls around. Work tomorrow…Don Twanna!

Wow been quiet in here today!

I’ve been a bzzy bear. I mowed the back yahd, cleaned up the back porch and did a buncha laundry. Now I’s in chill mode and gettin’ sleepified.

See y’all in the new MMP! Whenever that is, whoever does it. And all that there stuff.

Short, cute non-rescue story for tomorrow.

Note that I’m NOT volunteering. If y’all railroad me, you won’t see a new MMP until noon.

New MMP here.
