Oh no Annie! Thoughts and prayers headed that way.
I get to go home tomorrow. Yay! Louisiana has been hot and humid and hot.
Now I am tired after running on 4 hours sleep for a couple of days so I am going to bed.

I worked all day, but I’m 24 hours closer to hockey.

Happy birthday, Herbs! - farcebook reminded me it was your birthday today so that silly site is actually proving useful for once.
(((((Ann)))))
Today we decided to run the heating since there’s a distinct chill in the air. Now we have no hot water. 'im indoors is busy telling me how the 14-month old boiler is a complete POS and he’s never buying anything of that brand ever again. Is he phoning the service engineer to look at getting it fixed? No, of course not. Because swearing at me about it is so much more productive.
It’s supposed to be date night tonight and we were going out for curry. I hope his mood improves otherwise it’s going to be a miserable night out!
Thanks, BooFae; yeah, Facebook does prove good for some things, see?
Sorry about your heater, though, and 'im indoors taking it out on you. ::  I hope your curry is good though! My daughter and I are going out to a buffet lunch at one of the local Indian vegetarian restaurants today for my birthday. I’m going to look for some ground lamb, too, at the grocery for my next batch of home-made curry. The eggplant/ground beef one turned out quite tasty!
Oh yes, up and caffeinated although not -quite- ready to be up and about yet on Saturday.
It’s 3:28 am in the o’dark here. The dog woke me up 'cause he just had to go outside and poop, and then he took off after some critter in the back yard, and now I’m sorta waiting for him to come back 'cause he’s too little and too chicken to stay in the back yard for the rest of the night.
I’m sad. I was farting around on the innerwebz yesterday and was looking up some old friends, and found out that a really good friend and old college roommate had died.
I hadn’t talked to him in almost 40 years because I had betrayed his trust these many years ago, and I was embarrased and guilty. Now I can’t, and I wish I had done. He was a really good man. A much better man than I.
Sometimes Facebook isa mixed blessing.
Well, I have to get up and go watch a bunch of 7-year-olds play soccer in the rain in about 5 hours, so I’d better go see if the idiot dog had repented and come back yet, and get back in bed.
I wish I had some good whiskey left. Then I could add a rousing hangover to my sad.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’.
Today MOG, JDD and Partner and three others are comin’ over to hang out at the pool. We’re havin’ a last weekend of Summer party of sorts. We’ll have hotdawgs for lunch and grilled pork loin, sallit, friggin’ good N.O.T., rolls and apple crisp for dindin. A friend is bringin’ the apple crisp or rather she will make it here. ::drool:: Anything she makes us so uber good!
BooFae here’s hopin’ ‘im indoors is actin’ better and realilzin’ gettin’ the boiler fixed is more productive than yellin’ at you. If not, use the pointy stick. Also here’s a trout and some chitlins incase they’re needed.
Bumba sorry you’re sad but don’t beat yerself up over coulda, woulda, shoulda ok?
Annie so sorry about your friend. Prayers and good thoughts to her family and you.
And now this:

Happy Tarra Day!!!
Been busy - **FCD **and I made up both guest beds, so they’re ready for his fambly. I’ve baked (mostly) a pineapple upside down cake. Alas, once it was out of the oven a few minutes, the center fell a LOT - Methinks it wasn’t completely baked. Guess I shoulda tested instead of just timed. Oh well.
I also patted together 10 burgers, then built a meatloaf. Those are in the freezer. Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, and the second load is washed, so I’ll need to unload that shortly. **FCD **and daughter took her dog and cat to the groomer for flea baths, and now they’re at the convenience center with the assorted garbage.
MIL just called - they’re on their way from the train station. I thought they weren’t getting in till after noon. PANIC!!! I need to run the vacuum and lay out more towels. Don’t know why - MIL and FIL insist on sharing a single towel They drive me crazy!!! It’s not like they restrict our towel use at their house.
Off to finish my chores…
Good morning!
Happy Birthday, tarra!!!
Sorry about your friend, Bumba.
::hands wet trout to BooFae::
More hugs for Annie, friends and family.
Excited about hockey, doggio?
Who knew Darryl Hall had an online show…filmed at his house? They just interviewed him on the radio. The interview isn’t there just yet, but there’s a link to one of the shows. Sounds cool.
Am up, breakfasted, and pondering what to do with my day.
Hugs.

Up and showered. Just had some really really good Eggs Benedict via room service and I will be headed to the airport here in about 40 mins to head home. Whoohoo home! It is an all day trek to get there though that is if shitty-airlines-r-us can get me to Dallas first. Oh well!
boofae - smack him
bumba - sorry for the sad feelings
tarra - Yay! Happy Birthday enjoy it!
No inlaws yet - they got lost - ended up at the National Harbor Convention Center… I told them how to get here and I haven’t gotten any more phone calls, so there’s that.
Daughter got an email - her car should get here in a few days. She’s all happy - her Beetle is in really sad shape. So I guess by this time next week, she’ll have a new vehicle.
I’s hongry. Hope the get here soon so we can take them out to lunch.
Just back from running errands in town, we had a long list of things to do but now they are pretty much all sorted out. 'im indoors has realised that grumbling at me is not going to solve anything so he’s stopped doing that and is going to ring the heating man instead when he gets back from his spice-buying trip to the local asian supermarket.
I was in the bookstore looking for a book on jams and chutneys when I spotted a couple of other books in their discount section that will make good hexmas presents for a couple of people. Is it wrong to be buying hexmas presents in September? I think not, since lots of the stores already have cards and wrapping paper out.
In a fit of preparedness, I also bought next year’s diary inserts for my organiser 'cos I like to be, well, y’know, organised. And I registered online for my coffee club card from our local Costalot Coffee since that appears to be our new Saturday afternoon post-errands meeting place. We are very democratic, we have our own errands so we head into town together and get some lunch then we head off and do our own stuff so we need somewhere to meet up. A couple of weeks ago, I was a bit early finishing my stuff so instead of hanging around outside the last shop we usually go to, I went across the way and got a coffee. Since then, Costalot has been the meeting place of choice. If they are going to offer me bonus points and free coffee for that, I am not complaining.
I’m baaaaaaack! It’s been a looooooong week and I’m glad to finally be home. The heat and the humidity down in San Antonio were awful. It was so humid my glasses steamed up every time I got out of my car.
I did get something out of the training, so there’s that anyway. I never made it down to Riverwalk. I was just too tired most of the week. We were going to go last night, but when we were released from class it was raining sideways and it was so windy it was hard to walk in it. I was drenched in less than the 30 seconds it took me to get to my car from the building. The access road next to the hwy was flooding and when I finally made it back to my hotel, it was still raining sideways. I looked like I had taken a shower in my clothes. I was leaving little puddles on the lobby floor and looked like a drowned rat. My classmate and I found it funny and were laughing the whole time though.
**Annie, **I’m so sorry. I’m keeping you in my thoughts.
Happy Birthday, Herbs!
I is TAH-RED. I’ve been up since 12:30 am PST. However, I can’t sleep.
My daughter is bringing a pie down for my hubby today. I don’t know what time she’ll be here, though.
{{{TATERS}}}!!!
Howzzat for a welcome back?
I’s in from the pool and all showered. Everybody else is still out there but will be comin’ in shortly to shower and purty up for dindin. Not that it’s like fancy or anything but everybody wants to was the pool off. The water is coolish so it may indeed be the last official weekend of pool time.
Next weekend I will be <snerk> smokin’ butt <snerk> as we are doin’ another fundraiser at the church house for the mission trip to DR. This time the goal is to smoke thirty-six <snerk> butts <snerk>, which means startin’ ‘em up on Firday and finishin’ up on Sattidy as about eighteen are all that can fit on the smoker at a time for a really good smoke. And, yes, yours truly, who has absolutely no sense, has volunteered to be the chief <snerk> butt <snerk> smoker again.
Ok, guess I best get dindin preps underway.
Later Y’all!
Aw, thanks for the hug, Swampy!
Awww… We lost another fish last night.
I’d noticed that the betta had been drinking too much and his 1-gallon tank needed topping off. I figured the tank with the 4" goldfish in the 12-gallon tank could also stand a bit more - we gave both fish a full cleanout and water change about two weeks ago, but evaporation happens and the betta seems eternally thirsty.
I gave the betta his water, then went to the other tank. Hm. Where is that fish? Ah, down next to the filter intake, but she’s not mov…
hidden for the squeamish
Some sort of parasite got in there, judging by the size of the hole in her head.I didn’t notice anything wrong that morning, but it’s certainly possible that something’s been chewing away for a while.
Other than that, I’m sleepy. Too many support calls during the night made for too little sleep.
Sorry about the fishie, gotti.
Yay! Taters is back!!!
I’ve been to the bookstore, wandered through the Independents’ Day festival and had very nice pizza (there were lots of other options, but the pizza seemed like the best value for the line length. Also stopped by a friend’s to get some plants. Because, yes, I needed more.
Now I need to go outside and weed and put those new plants in the ground.
Back later.
GT
Happy Birthday, Herbs!
Sorry about the fishy, gotti.
I’m sorry it was so humid, Taters. Try October next time! October and April are the best times in Texas.
I took the dogs to the dog park today, and washed their stinky selves. It’s rainy and coolish now. (Only 78°!)
Making the Chicken Marsala tonight. Mmm!
I’ve got the baked N.O.T. on the grill, and in about half an hour, I’ll throw the steaks on the coals. Add a salad and pineapple upside-down cake, and that’ll be supper. And early to bed tonight. I’s tahred.
We’re going out on the boat tomorrow. Probably just motoring, since the winds are predicted to be under 5MPH. But the temps are going to be mild, so it should be a nice day on the water.
Back to the kitchen…
Gotti, are you sure it wasn’t a fish mob execution? Master Betta pissed them off, and they sent him to sleep with the humans?
Me! Me! Me! Ya know, the one who has a Hall and Oates gold record that my parents got me when I was a kid.
Happy Birthday, herbs!
Sorry about the fishy, gotti. My new betta has a name now. He’s Lancelot.
Busy day. I had a show near TVLand and it was just so-so. But I met a woman that could be worth her weight in gold. She publishes a list of shows for 13 states and if you buy her book (I did), you can give her all your personal details and she’ll recommend appropriate shows for you. And the best part is that I quizzed her on some of the shows that I’ve been to, good and bad, and she definitely seems to know her stuff.
