I have 0 intentions of ever cooking nekkid, be it for myself or a group. If I’m not wearing jeans, I have no place to wipe my hands, after all…
Blurfs for the rest of y’all. Is it quit o’clock yet?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up caffienated and brekkied. Been a little busy this mornin’ with some stuff.
In a bit Ima go to the church house to (yeah, I’m a wild man!) clean the convection oven and dare anybody to put anything in it that will drip grease in the bottom which he or she did not bother to clean up ever again. Actually there is a general announcement goin’ out via email and announcements in the service leaflet to the effect if it happens again, the oven shall be locked and permission will need to be granted to use. It’s awful to have to treat a bunch of alleged grownups this way but, geez, clean up yer mess!
Also, later today I’m goin to cut JDD’s Brother’s hair and trim his beard. He had his first chemo yesterday and it went well, good for him. Yes, I can give somebody a buzz cut. I have trimmers just for such things. I sometimes give myself a little trim up in between haircuts.
I know I said leftover chicken pot pie for dindin but what with us makin’ pigs of ourselves last night, and lunch for OYKW and me, there won’t be enough left. Thus we shall have hot dawgs cause I got a cravin’ for a hot dawg.
That’s the news from swampland.
Morning all!
It’s Pumpkin Spice Latte season at StarBigBucks! One of my favorite morning treats.
Also, in a related note, I think I’m developing a crush on one of the barrrristas (trilling the rrrr) there. She’s not a classic beauty, she’s probably younger than my own Bus Kid, but she’s got the prettiest smile, huge bright brown eyes and she’s dyed her hair any number of colors it’s hard to keep track. This latest incarnation is a bright red. She’s a bit on the punky/goth side.
That is all.
Break time. So far, I’ve spent a buttload of money this morning on groceries, pet supplies, and med refills. First load of jeans on the line, second in the washer. I’ve got a big pot of veggie beef soup simmering on the stove, waiting for N.O.T. to be tossed in. I’ve thawed some ground beef for sketty sauce, and I’ve got all the fixings to build a lasagna. Oh, and I made a marinade which is now permeating 6 steaks that will be tossed on the grill for dinner tomorrow.
**FCD **plans to come home early to get ready for the invasion of his parents. I’ve got at least 2 more loads to wash, plus I have to put fresh linens on the guest beds. And clean the pee spots on the dining room carpet. And worst of all, I had to close up the house because it was already mid-70s and muggy in here. I’ve got too much laboring to do to deal with muggy heat.
Inlaws get on the auto train this afternoon and they should get to our house early tomorrow afternoon. I sure hope they can sleep on the train.
That’s all for now. Back to slaving over the stove…
Playing hooky again! I’m thawing a brisket to put in the crockpot. I intend to cook it in some bbq sauce, then shred it for BBQ sammiches for dinner. Yum!
Didn’t get to make the Chicken marsala last night because ReboSon got his car towed. I had to go with him because he didn’t have enough money to get it out. Of course this was at 5:30 pm. Dinner was “everybody grab some leftovers.”
Later I shall go get my car inspected and the oil changed. Then go to the bar and play some bowling on this awesome bowling game they have. It’s a lot of fun with lots of players.
Rosie’s sig to all!
I am still not feeling up to par. And we’re supposed to be having a team outing to go play bowling this afternoon. I hate bowling. I know it’s something that you don’t have to be good at. I just hate it. I don’t like noise, groups of people >4, games in general, etc. I just don’t like it. And I really don’t want to go when I feel lousy.
So how offended do you think TPTB will be if I skip out on their “fun” event and take PTO for the afternoon? Will it help if I call it a sick (half) day? I had to come in this morning to wrap some work up. Otherwise I just would have stayed in bed and called in sick. Blurf.
I was driving around yesterday and noticed that a place that used to sell vitamins and health supplements now sells caskets and grave monuments.
Wile E - that’s morbidly hilarious!!
Third load in the washer, second on the line. Soup’s done. Lasagna’s built. I’m eating last night’s leftovers before making a big batch of sketty sauce.
Question for the cooks here - will an assembled, uncooked lasagna built on Friday be good to cook on Monday? I could make it on Sunday if I have to, but I planned it for Monday. I don’t need to freeze it, do I?
Back to the kitchen with me…
The fridge will be fine, assuming the ingredients for the lasagna were fresh on Friday.
Thanks, taxi. I figured the acid in the tomato sauce would help preserve, plus it’s pretty close to air tight. On the other hand, if we all get food poisoning, it’s your fault…
Soup is done, containered, and cooling before going into the fridge. Sketty sauce is simmering. First load of dishes has been washed. All laundry is out on the line. I’m taking a break. This happy homemaker crap wears a body out!!!
After cooking all day, I’m thinking supper will be PB&J. Or corn flakes. Unless the Supper Fairy shows her slacker face here. Stoopit Supper Fairy.
Remind me next week and I’ll post it. It’s at home and I’m not going to be home until Sunday.
I can’t wait until 3:00 cuz then I get to leave for Faire (or at least the grocery store, gas station, bank, and then faire).
Sketty sauce is done and cooling. I made some rice krispie squares, just because. Tomorrow, I’m going to make a pineapple upside down cake.
**FCD **got all the work done on his truck - Line-X bedliner, trailer hitch, and fold-up bed cover. Moby is all fancified…
As soon as I feed the idiot dogs, I need to get the clothes off the line. Last chore for the day will be spot cleaning the carpet. That’ll only take a little while.
I’s tahred - this stay-at-home-and-do-chores really sucks!!!
A church friend of ours is missing. It looks bad. Please: good hopeful thoughts, prayers, or anything to help bring her home. She is one of the sweetest ladies in the world.
Hubby goes next Wednesday to get the lymph node removed. I’m off work to take care of MIL. Pray for us, too.
I don’t know what your covering plans are, but if foil is involved, you need to cover the lasagna with cling wrap first to protect the foil from the acidic tomato sauce.
Otherwise, you’ll come back to it on Monday to find holes burned through the foil and icky gray fallout on the lasagna.
Fifteen minutes to freedom!
ACK! I put the monthly dose of Revolution on my dog a few minutes ago, and to thank me, she shook. At least I won’t have to worry about getting heartworms this month.
**gotti **- thanks - I knew that and forgot. Yes, it’s got foil on it. Not touching the sauce, but still, plastic wrap is cheap and easy.
Laundry is in. Daughter is home. **FCD **is futzing in the garage with his table saw. I’m beat. I’m also thirsty - I should get a drink…
Heh. We went to lunch at 5 Guys and noticed that there is a store that sells nutrition supplements etc. in the same little shopping center along with: 5 Guys, a pizza place, a wings place and a bad Chinese place.
So sorry about your friend, Annie. That sounds so sad. Prayers and good thoughts headed out for her, her family and your family as well.
Forgotten from yesterday: sounds like you’re a really good tenant. I always considered it good preparation for home ownership to think about how things could be improved.
Sounds like you’ve been extremely busy, FCM.
Home…really tired. It’s Firday!!!

Annie prayers and good thoughts headed out for your friend and her family. You’re right things do not look good.
MOOOOOOM if it were me I’d freeze the lasagna until Monday. Then again, I’m a little nutso about stuff like that.
We got the convection oven cleaned over to the church house. ICK! Now it is ick no more. Also I gave JDD’s Brother his haircut and beard trim. Then I mowed the back yahd cause I decided it needed to be mowed.
Now, Ima go beddy bye in just a few minutes. I am tahred and sleepified.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
They’ve arrested the guy in Alabama: he’s charged with an additional murder and an aggravated assault. They’ve also found a body that may be Mrs. Ethel’s.
Prayers for her son, her family and our church family.
