the completely hijackable MMP

Who brought the cold germs in here? I woke up with a sore throat yesterday morning, and by last night it had migrated to my sinuses like all colds do. So now I’ve got a miserable sinus cold. Thanks a lot.

Morning all!

It is Monday. 2 Conf calls and cleaning out my Inbox are the highlights of my day today.

Later!

A friend of mine, we’ll call her Jelly Lady, had a baby a week or two ago. She was somewhat premature and weighed just under 6 pounds. It’s been rough going ever since. At first she couldn’t breathe on her own, then they took her off of the ventilator. Next, she couldn’t regulate her body temperature and wasn’t gaining weight. Now she’s got a staph infection in her jaw and lymph nodes and they may have to do surgery if she doesn’t respond to the antibiotics they’re giving her. Keep them in your thoughts, will you?

You got it, Sticky. Prayers and good thoughts ascending.

Pull up a bed and have some hot tea. You’ll feel better.

hijackable MMP - isn’t that redundant??

I’m not going to comment on Teh Sick or mention my lack thereof lest I jinx myself.

Oh yeah, I’m home early. I needed to get some documents together for the truck loan, plus the tree guys are coming today, plus nothing was happening at work anyway. It’s a nice, dry day, so maybe I can get some carpet cleaning done.

I just finished lunch - soup and some pie. After I’m done reading the funnies, I guess I’ll break out the carpet cleaner. Yeehaw!!

MOOOOOOM soup and pie? Aren’t we just the hedonist today!

StickyBuns prayers and good thoughts headed out to baby and mom.

Feel better gotti! I say a shot of vodka or whiskey in lemonade. You get vitamin C and even if you don’t feel better, who cares!

JDD apologized a while ago. He said when he calmed down he realized it was stoopid of him to expect me to take sides. He understands he can use me as a sounding board cause that’s what friends do but that’s as far as it will go. I don’t do the drama llama.

Now off to read all about how coffee grows on trees. Who knew!

Coffee grows on trees? Do they harvest it like maple syrup??

(sprays Lysol through the thread)

::coughs and sputters::

I’m not sick, but I did get a freakin’ speeding ticket. :frowning: I am a dumbass. I KNOW where this particular speed trap is. I see people getting pulled over every single day.

I is stoopid. :smack:

But will you call a waaahmbulance for someone?

What is this ‘mix’ you speak off? I need to get a bigger card for my mp3 player so I can fit all my music on it.

With my mom’s help I got all my stuff to my storage unit. It only took two trips with both of our cars. I just hope there’s not a major earthquake, because it’s stacked to the ceiling! If anything falls I won’t be able to get the door open.

The computer at work is being retarded and annoying.

I’ve got taijitsu tonight, art class starts Tuesday, and Pirate Faire is this weekend.

What’s with all the sickies here? I’ve got enough problems, I don’t need your germs, too.

puts on a pair of latex gloves and a surgical mask mmpph, mmph’s mmmpph!

Nothing to add!!!

I hope these tree guys are better at lumberjacking than at English. On the side of their bucket truck, it says “Thanks to our customers for making us the ***dominate ***tree service in southern Md.” Oh yeah, tree man, dominate me!

**FCD **came home just as the tree guys arrived. That was a surprise. He’s working in his shop on a roll-around stand for his table saw. I’m glad he’s here - I didn’t anticipate any issues with the tree guys, nor did they give off any scary vibes, but still, it feels safer.

Woohoo - they just set up a chipper in the driveway - them suckers are cool!

And we’re all set up with the Credit Union for tomorrow to do the loan paperwork. And I have an appt on Thurs for bloodwork and new prescriptions for my keep-me-alive meds. Too bad I can’t stretch an 8AM appointment to all day off! Then again, maybe I’ll just take the rest of that day off and do my pre-in-law grocery shopping. We shall see.

I took Firday off work and didn’t look at the MMP between Thursday evening and this morning, so I am waaaay behind on everyone’s news and events. :frowning:

All last week I’d planned to take Firday afternoon off, to supervise some landscape work at my place, and then late Thursday my Firday morning meeting got cancelled so I figured I’d just take the whole day off. The landscape work got moved to Saturday morning but I wound up having a follow-up, in-person interview at 1:30 on Firday afternoon, and it was nice to be able to sleep in and take my time getting there. It went well, and I accepted a contingent offer this morning.

Saturday I drove up to Hagerstown, Maryland (70 miles northwest of me) to have lunch with an old friend: we went to grade school and high school together, but hadn’t seen each other in 21 years. We ate at the awesome Hempen Hill BBQ, and then we just sat and talked for 3.5 hours. It was good to see her again, and I’m glad we reconnected on Facebook. It was a gorgeous day for a drive through the hills, too – I had the windows down and sunroof open the whole way there and back.

The landscape guys came Saturday morning, and I was able to talk to them a little before I headed up to Maryland. The place looked awesome even before I left, and when I got home I was really happy. The trees and bushes had needed to be seriously trimmed for quite a while, and the house looks sooo much better now! Plus there was some excitement when I went out to talk to them the first time: I managed to lock myself out of the house, and one of the guys got me in through the garage using a credit card and a screwdriver. Of course it kind of sucks that it was that easy for him to get in, but I’ve always known the lock on that door was a joke. I rely on the big garage door to keep folks from trying to break in there. Anyway, next up is some back yard cleanup, but I don’t know when I’ll be able to have that work done. Soon, I hope, after seeing how much better the front and side yards look!

Yesterday I did nothing, because (a) it was rainy most of the day, and (b) I suddenly had a runny nose. I guess I caught whatever’s going around the MMP. :frowning: Today my nose isn’t quite as runny, but I’m still congested and tired and I decided to cancel my voice lesson tonight so that I can go to bed early (it’s at 9 and I usually don’t get home until close to 11). I think one of my co-workers had something the other week, plus I’ve been stressed about my work situation and I’m the type to get sick when the worst of the stress is over (after final exams, after a big performance, after a successful job interview, etc.).

All day today I’ve been distracted about the new job: I hope they finish jumping through the client’s hoops soon, so that the offer can go from “contingent” to “final” and I can give my notice here. I won’t know my start date until then, but it’s looking like either 9/27 or 10/4. I have mixed feelings about leaving my current company, where I’ve been for almost four years, but this seems like a good opportunity and there’s too much uncertainty here. Onward and forward!

No strep, thank God. Just a reallyreallyREALLY bad sore throat. She’s clear for school tomorrow. I’m glad.

Congrats on the job offer, Missy! Hope they finalize it with all due haste.

First tree is down and much has been mulched. Big branches on the other tree are just about down, too. There are some good looking hunks of trunk that are just chock full of firewood but *someone *didn’t want to deal with it, so these guys will take it and sell it. Then we’ll have to buy firewood. Yanno, some battles aren’t worth fighting… Anyway, shortly, I expect they’ll drive their trucks around the back and take down that gawd-awful paulownia - YAY! There are 4 of them, and they work well as a team.

Man, I hate seeing all that beautiful oak being mulched… :frowning: But I am glad to have the dead oak gone. And I’m gladder still that we’re having this done - you know - the best tool for this job is definitely the checkbook.

Yay for job offer Missy!

Yay for trees gone byebye MOOOOOOM!

Yay for no strep Annie!

Dindin is yesterday’s leftovers cause I didn’t want to cook. Plus I have Vestry meetin’ tonight (yay! five year budgets! not!) and OYKW will be headed up to large and in charge Macon, Jawja tomorrow mornin’ for a meetin’ that will last til Wednesday afternoon so he’s stayin’ over tomorrow, so usin’ up leftovers is the smart thing to do.

I’ll be a bachelor for a day and a half. Maybe I should get into trouble like what always happens on a sitcom.

I am Le Tired. I had to sleep on the couch because my elderly dog was having issues. Crazy as a bed bug. Tonight we will load up on the Benedryl. (The dog, not me.)

You can never go wrong staying out of the crossfire, swampy! But you already know that.

Yay, on the no nasty strep, annie!

fcm, I looked into getting a chipper for Mr. Anachi once but they’s spensive!!
