Fridge was fixed this morning. The fan motor was messing up. The fixit guy said the fridge is as old as the building (30-35 years old ) and would have to be replaced soon. I take that to mean we need to invest in a cooler soon Just In Case.
I’m skimming job sites right now since what I wanna do ain’t hiring due to the crappy state budget. Once again I note that if I were a nurse, I’d have it made. I’m so tired of seeing 900,000,000,000 want ads for nurses and 3 for other fields.
Just over 3 hours, and all I have left are tracks in the yard and 2 piles of mulch. If we need to have trees taken down again, I will call these guys. Both the front and the back yards look lots bigger. A couple of my azaleas got broken branches, but I was going to have to prune them back anyway, so no big deal. I need to move them, too, since they’re sitting in the middle of my future veggie patch. Actually, I’m going to have 3 separate beds, about 8’X8’ each.
Supper was good - ham with pineapple, peas, and onions-n-N.O.T. No dessert, tho. Bummer.
Prayers and healing thoughts to Preemie and Mom, Sticky.
One day down, 4 more to go! Congrats on the job offer, Missy; good thoughts sent your way. The curry last night turned out yummerific; and there are enough left-overs for lunch at least one day this week. Ima go lay down for a little nappy poo, sorry for glomming that from ya, Swampy! My new favorite shows? “Pit Boss” on Animal Planet (Sat. at 10 PM) and the House Hunter and International House Hunter shows on HGTV! Love to see those interneational ones, especially what the kitchens look like! LOL Good time, seriously.
The last update that I saw about the baby said that it appeared that the antibiotics were working. Hopefully there will be dramatic improvement by morning.
Well, I have a new fish. It was either that or get pregnant. ;) He’s very pretty, almost an emerald color. I haven’t decided what to name him.
Home from a marathon Vestry meetin’. Budgets, salaries, software packages for the Treasurers ( a husband and wife team, brave souls!), a new laptop for said software, bids for pressure washing and painting, approval of fundraisers, excitatin’ stuff all!
Hi all! Healing vibes to Mr. Onimous and to gotti.
That sounds like a fascinating vestry meeting, swampy. I feel all updated and stuff.
We are having the driest end of summer that I can remember. I spent about an hour watering plants, some of which I’ve never had to water before (well-established perennials). And I need to do some more watering in the morning because I ran out of daylight.
Also walked to the grocery because I forgot to buy Cheerios last night and, lo! SALE! So I came home with 5 boxes of Cheerios. Quite exciting.
I am very glad Monday is over but man this week is going to be a nightmare. Oh well onwards we go!
Supper tonight is baked sweet potato with cheese sprinkled on it, pork loin seasoned and then wrapped in bacon and baked and sallit. Yum. Just waiting on the pork loin to be done.
I am hon-gry dammit hurry up!
Healing/praying vibes to the sickies, mr Oni and preemie baby and momma!
I’m healthy, but the main PC has a virus. I nuked the sucker from orbit, but now it won’t talk to the Intarweb Tubes. Thank God for the Netbook. I got my season tickets from FedEx today. I am insane with joy.
Prayers sent for Mom and kid, Sticky
swampy, glad JDD came to his senses. I dislike drama. I’m a sucker for good TMI, though.
First on 2 Yay! Woohoo!
IANAD but AFAIK that part is normal for newborns. I remember it being a problem with The Nephew because his Parental Units were keeping him all bundled up and the house too warm; they were better about it for The Niece.
waves at the zooming-by bus
Good!
Best wishes on the work front, Missy, swampy et al.
I should be formatting… taking a day off just because “it’s nice outside and I want to go shopping!” is not adult behavior, is it? Yes, I can do that in the weekend, but everybody else is on the streets too, I want to do it while they’re at work I’ll be off on the 27th, but it’s because I’m going home for the weekend; I’m taking the train up on Friday after Quit O’Clock (we’re on “summer hours” until the end of October, Friday we end at 13:30) and coming back on Monday morning, but I can’t stay in Seville for lunch and use the afternoon to roam because the furniture I bought back on July 5th is supposed to finally be arriving. I went to the furniture store once at the end of August and again last Friday with my best “hi, I’m being friendly, I’m not threatening your ass or anything and by the way where is my sofa?” face, but still if it isn’t here by the end of this month he is eating it and he knows it. So please nobody talk to me about “supporting local business” again: if I’d gone to IKEA I would have had everything in July.
I hear ya on the furniture Nava. I once had a local furniture store sell the paid for furniture that was bein’ held for me while da cave was bein’ built because they were bettin’ da cave would not be ready for another month and by then they’d have the reordered replacements in. Didn’t happen that way and they had to deal with a pissed off gay man who was movin’ into new digs with no livin’ room or bedroom furniture. To this day I am treated like I own the place whenever I go into that store cause I pitched a big hissy fit right there in the show room.
What? I’m southern. I know a hissy fit when I see or pitch one!
I tend to do the “supremely nice” version since I discovered that it actually terrifies people more One of my coworkers was from NJ but she could bless your heart so thoroughly that even without having encountered the expression previously you knew she’d just cursed all your foreparents to Adam, Eve and beyond. They’re used to dealing with red-in-the-face folks, someone coming in all nice and sunny and somewhat-worried is out of the usual parameters, so they can’t go into automatic defense mode. And hey, I even listen to reason!
I need to buy new bedroom furniture as the wardrobe and chest of drawers that I bought many years ago is finally wearing out. Swampy, will you come furniture shopping with me? I promise beerverages afterwards!
I am at irk, and irked. Office move looms, things are not improving on that front and I am not particularly happy about the whole situation. Bah. Indeed, double bah.
