I have dad’s large Revere Ware 2-qt saucepan. I don’t know if he bought it, or if he got it from my mom’s mom. I bought a new lid for it to replace the missing one. There was a 1-qt Revere Ware saucepan in the kitchen at work. I found a 1-qt Teflon Revere Ware pan at the Salvation Army and swapped it for the copper-bottom one. I bought a lid for that one too. I almost always use my tri-ply stainless steel Calphalon saucepans, but there are times when the vintage copper-bottom Revere Ware pans are just the ticket… and I can use dad’s pan.
Home again. FCD has been boosted. We got the crib all ready for Baby 2.0. We lunched at Red Robin - they had a sign that they’re closing at 6 today - they don’t have any cooks for the evening shift!
Now it’s time for chillage, after I run downstairs and check my veggies. I don’t think I’ll be making a real supper tonight since our lunch was substantial. So grazing will be the order of the meal. And not much else on the agenda for today.
Let me know when you have an answer~this is a quest of mine and I’ve given up finding them in my town.
MPSIMS: When we change to Standard Time on November 7th, the sun at this latitude will set at 16:40.
Man, I hate it when you guys mess around with your clocks, it always messes me up for months. At least I’m retired now, I used to have a cheat-sheet to help me figure out what time it was where I needed to call.
Hubs loves gadgets. I get a lot of eggs in the weekly produce boxes. I used to boil the eggs in a big pot that could go back on the rack when empty, but hubs bought one of those electric egg cookers so we use it instead. It works great for boiled eggs and if you want to poached or scrambled eggs it does an acceptable job on them. It lives on the counter along with a crock pot and a rice steamer. It would be nice to be able to consolidate everything and get a some counter space back.
It’s a beautiful day here, the windows are open and I’ve been out playing in our yard. There was an empty lot a few places down that is getting clear cut today, probably for a small manufactured home. For the most part, landscaping here is a bush or two and lots of gravel and/or weeds. That’s what our front yard looks like, but we have trees and flowers and clover in the back which means we also have lots of small wildlife hanging out. It’s very noisy out there now because the birds who lived in the empty lot are here discussing property rights with our resident birds.
George (well, some kitty) knocked a cookie sheet on the floor last night. Hubs covered the counters with foil before he came back to bed. I saw some crumbled spots on it this morning, but hubs was mostly asleep when he was putting it down and he might not have been as neat as he could have.
Congrats on the negative test FCM! It does seem to be slightly odd to be happy that someone has come down with a garden variety creeping crud, I guess that’s the new normal now.
I hate it too. Most people don’t work on farms, and we now have electric lights an’ shite. Set it to Standard Time (GMT+8 here) and leave it there.
Woof that was a tough day. Out the door at 7:45 to get a rental truck, then up to the shop, of course the loading dock and the truck aren’t at the same height. But, hey no problem, I’ll just use the handy extendo-ramp from the truck. But no, those only do down, and my loading dock is 4" higher than the truck. Lots of my go-to tools, Stubbornness and Leverage later, I got everything loaded. Hour and a half drive in a truck that really wanted to go to the right and I’m t the museum.
Turns out they weren’t really ready for it, as the spot where it’s going on the floor is still full of stuff. So we load it into their storage area, but I can’t set it up, which I really wanted to do 'cuz there’s some tricky bits, but anyway. Back into the conservative truck and another hour and a half. Finally home, exhausted. I didn’t even take all the packing blankets and dollies back to the shop. Tomorrow.
Yay! FCM on the neg test.
Personally, I’d prefer we stay on daylight time. These parts in mid winter it’s dark when I leave the house and dark when I get home.
I now have the IP air fryer lid. So what do I do with it?
I don’t care which time we’re on - just pick one and stay there. Time change is stoopit.
The convenience center opens at 8 tomorrow, so I’ll head over there first thing. Then sometime between 10:30-11, I’ll heads up to my mom’s for TorT with the littles. My daughter will spend the night there and SIL will drive me and Roxy home. She’ll spend the night with me because he has to work on Sunday and Daughter doesn’t want to have to rush back. Very confusing.
I kinda slept on and off in the recliner, but I need to force myself to stay awake now till bedtime. Maybe I’ll start the new babby afghan. My poor nose is still drippy, tho not as bad as it was yesterday. So I guess I’m getting better.
I need a medicinal hot fudge sundae!
I object to year-round Daylight Saving Time.
Agreed. Standard, Daylight, compromise by splitting the difference, pick another option completely, whatEVER. Just pick SOMETHING and STICK WITH IT!!!
actually, the plan has been to make DST permanent and California almost got away with it except back when the GOP had a majority 30 years ago they passed a law saying we couldn’t …
Today’s bitching is the stupid medicare calls. (I’m on Medi-Cal, Medicare and Medicaid)al… ok people how my medical stuff isn’t decided by me it’s done by the state of ca and it’s pretty good and there’s not much reason to change it but all it takes is one fragging call and I will get various calls until 8 or 9 pm … and when I say mines decided I get the “we can do better” spiel and I just hang up…
We don’t have that foolishness here, but did do it in California. I do not miss it one little bit. The kitty drama was even worse than me getting used to getting up earlier.
I am boosted, go Team SpikeVax. It was pretty sad to be honest. I didn’t want to make an appointment online because of some of the required information, so I drove into town. I walked straight up to the counter, got jabbed and was done is less than 5 minutes. On the way out, I saw a display of Bailey’s Salted Caramel Irish Cream and thought that looked like the grown up version of the after shot sucker, so grabbed a bottle. I waited longer for someone to come to the self check out and age verify me for booze than I did for a potentially life saving shot. That just seemed wrong.
The back yard is so noisy its hard to hear. I’m hearing quail in the mix, so there must have been a nest in the vacant lot. Looks like I’m going to have to get another quail block, they are dedicated ground feeders.
Howdy Y’all! We slothed, we napped, we fixed and et sup. Mowage did not happen. Tomorrow. For real.
MOOOOOOM yay for negative test!
I have visions of both of us gettin’ Moderna boosters on Moanday. We shall see.
My second Moderna shot put me to bed for a couple of days. I’ll let you know if I get up tomorrow. The booster is only a half dose, and I’ve heard that he aftereffects are mild or non-existent.
Of course, due to thinking that Bailey’s salted caramel is an excellent after-shot sucker for adults, I might sleep all day anyhow.
I know. The plan is stupid.
Up until last year (when I wasn’t in the office), I referred to the Monday after the end of DST as “The Saddest Monday Ever.” I typically would be leaving the office around 5pm - 5:15pm, and the previous week, I’d have been leaving while the sun was low in the sky, but still shining. Then, on that Monday, I’d leave the office to the barest hint of twilight, the sun having set a half-hour prior.
Well, shit. We’ve lost a $650 check somewhere. We have a home warranty on our appliances and took a buyout on our dryer rather than replacing it. My wife put the check in her front pocket with the grocery list, as we were going to stop at the grocery and then the CU. Apparently, when she pulled the list out of her pocket the check came out with it. We didn’t notice it missing until we were at the CU and raced back to the store. No luck.
Now, if someone finds it, we did have the presence of mind to write “for deposit only to (acct#)” on the back, so it should be impossible for someone to cash it. The check expires in 90 days, so it will be at least that long before the issuing entity will replace it. My name and address are on the front of the check, so I’m hoping someone honest has found it, but I have little faith in humanity at this point.
Making some baked whiting with Penzy’s Northwood seasoning with rice, peas, and mushrooms. Watching some college hockey on YouTube.
To be fair, she was my roommate’s cat for the 2 hours between adoption and when I got home from work. Then she adopted me.
I’d prefer the permanent DST, but either way they should just stop screwing with it.

My dinner was two tacos dorados w/cheese, Romaine lettuce (the store was out of iceberg), cilantro, & cheese – plus Tapatio on one; and a roasted jalapeño on the side. Also, taco meat and cheese wrapped up in a leaf of Romaine. Plus tequila & soda w/lime. Mrs. L.A. had two tacos dorados w/cheese & sour cream, and refried beans; and a margarita.
