I linked to Creepypasta before, but I especially like this one:

"TRUE STORY
Let me start by saying: No alcohol, drugs or any other mind-altering substances were involved, and I’ve not told anyone this story except my wife.
In November 1978 in deep south texas, I was driving home around 1:00 a.m. and came to a 4-way stop in a sparsely populated area. As I started to turn right, I noticed about 100 yards ahead what appeared to be a baby around 3 years old standing in the middle of the road wearing nothing but a diaper(remember, this was November) holding on to the collar of a very large german shepard. I was able to guess at the age of the baby, because he/she was about the same height as the dog.
Anyway, I stopped my turn and drove towards this spectacle, as I was concerned for the safety of the child. I wasn’t feeling anything spooky(yet). As I approached them, the kid turned away from me and began to run away from me right down the centerstripe AT FULL SPEED with the grace and coordination of an olympic athlete. I say at full speed, because the dog was not trotting, but running with him. The kid was still holding on to the dog’s collar.
I stopped the car and when I did, they stopped too. So I started towards them again and when I did, they darted off into the brush. I just blew it off and put the car in reverse to get back through the intersection, and when I did, they came out again. This scenario happened 3 times, each time I was getting closer to them. On the 4th time, all of a sudden, I had the coldest, deepest fear come over me like a blanket, goosebumps covered my entire body and I began to tremble, and as God as my witness, a little voice came into my head and told me to turn around and don’t look back. Felt like one of those dreams when you’re trying to run and your feet can’t move fast enough. I hauled @ss home(about a half mile away), and RAN in the house as fast as I could! It felt EVIL!
That in itself is strange, but here’s where it really gets weird. Over the years, I’ve heard the same story from at least 5 different people who I’d never met before, the latest being 3 weeks ago from an eighty year old distant relation at an aunt’s funeral.
In addition, around 1990-92, M.C. Hammer had a video out where he and his band end up in the basement of a spooky house where there was a halloween-type costume party going on with all the devils and demons and such, and in one of the scenes, A KID IN A DIAPER HOLDING ON TO A GERMAN SHEPARD walks across the screen - I just about fell out of my chair when I saw that! Here’s a list of the top 10 scary short films online. I’ve only seen the first (Bedfellows) previously, and it’s excellent, so if the rest live up to that standard, there should be a few good ones…
Great thread, Meatros. I was having a jolly time home alone last night, going through the Very Vaguely Creepy threads, and some of the posts were not vaguely creepy at all. I had to turn on the TV for some comforting noise, and go look at something else after this one.
I’ll read some more today while it’s still daylight…!
That guy’s blog is good. I think he’s got a freaky Friday section that’s filled with interesting stuff.
But it’s more fun to read at night…
Yes, some of the people who contribute to these threads/stories are quite talented.
If it’s all right to link to other boards, this one (some kind of gun forum) has some good stories.
The following post there is an example of the kind of creepy story I like, apparently posted by a vet:
As clarified later in the thread, “60” and “pig” refers to a type of machine gun that hadn’t been in service in over a decade (at least according to the poster).

Man in the Dark - not really creepy I guess, but a little unsettling…
Here’s Murderpedia
Which led tothis, with an EXTREMELY creepy photo (third picture up from the bottom). It’s a picture of the serial killer’s victim as he approaches her. I can’t get it out of my head. Here’s another website on it.
Humans are the worst monsters, because they are real.
On a creepy island in a creepy swamp south of Mexico City there’s a place that looks like the stuff of nightmares and horror movies. Here, among the scraggily branches and dead trees hang hundreds of old, mangled dolls.
This picture is going to horrify me for a long time.
Yes, same here. It’s very strange - it looks photo shopped or something to me. It’s like my mind can’t actually accept the truth of the photo.
Jail, or even the death penalty, doesn’t seem enough punishment for this sort of sick serial killer. It’s like, I want the guy erased from existence. Ugh.
There is a road like that that heads out of Canberra (going to Bungendore via Queanbeyan. One section has lots of trees with all sorts of kids toys nailed to trees.
Teddy bears, Elmo dolls, Bert & Ernie, Cabbage patch kids - all hung or crucified .
My wife thinks its a fun thing for kids to look at on the drive down to the coast. I think there is a budding serial killer in the area.
When I was a kid we would go down to my grandparents farm for holidays. There is a nearby swimming hole known as Polly McQuinns Weir. Named after a young girl who was swept off the crossing & was never found, it is reputed to be haunted by the girls ghost - a light that moves out over the water and hovers over her final resting place. We never really belived the tales but always made sure not to be in the area around dusk or after dark.
Longtime lurker (a decade) first time poster. I LOVE these types of threads and thought I’d chime in with my own creepiness.
When I was 19 and out on my own I had a piece of crap car that would always break down. I had a manual, some tools and no money to pay a mechanic so I usually fixed the car myself. I have a knack for all things mechanical and it usually worked out just fine but I hated—hated!—going to the auto parts store. Being a socially awkward and introverted teenage girl shopping for auto parts made me the center of attention almost every time I went.
This particular time it was my carburetor that was broken and I had bought a re-built one and was going to bring my old one in later to sell them so they could re-build that one and sell it. I think that’s how it worked, it’s been over 20 years. The point is that there was paperwork I had to fill out.
Of all the guys that could have waited on me I got a large, loud, heavily tattooed man that instantly gave me the creeps. He had this leering smile and he intimidated me. Even worse, he knew I was intimidated and he liked it. Instead of letting me fill out the paperwork he insisted on asking me the questions and filling it in himself. I was so uncomfortable standing there saying out loud all my personal information for everyone to hear.
Now I had just moved the weekend before to a place out in the middle of the boondocks and I was so thankful that my roommate and I had decided on using a P.O. box because I did not want Creepo to know my physical address. Then he asked me my phone number. I spouted off the first three numbers and then stopped—I was trying my best to remember the last four numbers. You see, we had just gotten the phone hooked up just two days before and I hadn’t memorized it yet. I just stood there trying to recall the numbers with Creepo just smirking at me. Then with a grin he said, “6119.” Those were the numbers that completed my phone number! How in the world did he know? I was seriously dumbfounded and could hardly speak. I finally managed to squeak out, “Um…yeah, that’s right.” The look of triumph in his face was horrible. He asked me if I wanted to know how he knew that but all I wanted was to get away from him. I mumbled something, signed my name, grabbed my shit and got the hell out of there. I wish I had stayed for his explanation but I was seriously scared at that point.
I had hoped that I was just remembering the number wrong but no, I checked and he really did nail it. That night my roommate, her parents and I talked and talked about it trying to figure out how this guy knew our number. We never did figure it out. As bad as I could have used the money, I never did take my carburetor back. In fact it was years later before I went back to that store.
Eeeek Quarter Girl! Did he ever call?
No, he didn’t. We were on pins and needles about it for a few weeks though.
Another story…
I moved from out of state to a very small town at the end of my ninth grade year. Remember, I was a socially awkward and introverted teen. It was hell trying to adjust. Well there was this senior guy that gave me the creeps. He was overly flirtatious and always wanted me to kiss him. He was a big football player (I swear I don’t have a hang-up about large men) and he was so aggressive about it that I just tried to avoid him altogether. I only saw him at one time of the day between classes and with a little help from my new best friend I was able to avoid this guy for the most part for the last couple months of school. Apparently I was a freak magnet when I was young.
Fast forward several years…I was grown and married (to a large man, no less) and even though I stayed pretty much in the vicinity of that small town and so did CreepJock, we never saw each other thankfully. Then in 2000 I was reading in the paper and following the story of a missing 12 year old girl. They finally found her body…in CreepJock’s house!! He was accused (and eventually convicted) of having abducted, raped and murdered her. How’s that for creepy? It’s been on my mind lately because he was executed for his crime just two weeks ago.
