The days are getting longer in the MMP

So I locked my keys and my phone in my car this moring. luckily a co worker picked me up halfway home. not luckly it was hella expensive to get in. It’s actually less expensive to just smash a window and replace it. :grimacing:

7? Did you see Dr. Acula? :man_vampire:

Not as bad as forgetting the coffee.
Sometimes you need a cup of coffee, before you make your morning coffee

[Dorthy Parker]I cal my parakeet Onan, for he spills his seed upon the ground[/Dorthy Parker]

Never get up before coffee. If you have to get up before coffee, have coffee first.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday.

[Sir Bedevere]Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?[/Sir Bedevere]

Just a little thing to share, unworthy of a thread of its own. The university at which I work had an IT conference today and I got a shout-out for my research. They called me an “AI rock star.” It feels good to be appreciated.

Congrats! And welcome back.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 80 and N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ I shall go over to the church house to deal with candle duty as I must do so today. Outside of that the usual sloth, uselessness, and bein’ a retired drain on society shall prevail. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

Sunny red is referrin’ to Popeye The Sailor Man who apparently opened up a chain of fried chikin fast food places when he retired from the Navy. Spinach, strangely enough, is not on the menu.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. Alack and bother!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Stoopid brain said 5 AM was time to get up on saturday morning. I never did make it to the shop yesterday, so’s that’s what I’ll do today.

Say safe, y’all.

Wow - a good, long night of sleepage last night! I know I woke at least once, but overall, I think I got close to 8 hours! Eureka!! I may feel human today.

FCD is still sleeping, poor thing. I hope I didn’t disturb him - he hasn’t had a good sleep in months - not even with drugs, and he’s been out of the good pain-killers forever. He’s got a Dr appt on Moanday - I’m hoping they can figure out something for him.

Once the day gets moving here, I’ll clean the pellet stove and I think I’ll pack a couple of snack bags for the movie. I know they need to charge stoopit high for popcorn, but $10 for a medium is too crazy. As big as my purse is, we cold take a whole bag of microwave popcorn with us, tho I think I’ll stick to pretzels and maybe some grapes. Or peanuts. The theater can sell us a soda anyway - I won’t smuggle that in.

Before we go, I do want to run to get my glasses adjusted - they’re too tight against my head and I will not try to bend them myself. Unfortunately, they’re 5 miles in the opposite direction of the movie, or I’d get it done on the way. Oh well…

That’s pretty much all that’s planned. Temps today won’t get past the low 40s, tho we are promised sun. I guess that’s something.

Happy Saturday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 9C out there and mostly cloudy, which is why it’s bright and sunny, right?

Been to the gym this morning for bootcamp and spin, came home for a shower and several cups of tea. I fed and medicated the cats before I went out, when I came back Shadow was asking for seconds so he got some more of his sophisticated food. I went down to make more tea and he followed me, sat staring at the fridge…so his third helping of food appeared. I’m only giving him a teaspoon or so at a time, he’s had one lot with Metacam on it, I don’t want to give him too much at once because he won’t eat it all. Either it will sit on the plate and dry out, or one of the other cats will scoff it.

We’re off into town for the usual errands shortly, then a friend’s coming over and we’re going out for curry at the excellent pub with the Nepalese chef, then off to see four bands. Our friend is on anti-biotics and can’t drink, so she’s offered to drive us. Nice change for me, I’ve only ever been to this particular venue once and not had to drive (we’ve been going there since 2016) so that’s a treat for me. She’s staying over, and will be rewarded with a massive breakfast in the morning.

I friggin’ CUT myself at work yesterday. Wouldn’t stop bleeding & it was a slow afternoon anyway, so I left early.

Was supposed to have a date with Gentleman Caller today.
Instead, he very generously came over last night, to kiss my owie and make me feel better.

… He just now left.

Okay, that was funny.

sunny, swampy got it in one. Popeye’s does some pretty good chicken and their mac and cheese is decent too. I was disappointed that they took green beans off the menu though. I tend to order something green with a meal instead of a starch.

Congrats beep!

Mooooooom, back when I first came to Nashville and my niece and nephew were young teens, we would go to the dollar movies when they would spend a weekend with me. I had a movie purse at the time that was big enough for snacks and a can of soda each. We saw a lot of second run movies that way.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to mess around in the studio today. I do need to make a donation run to Goodwill at some point, but sloth will happen first.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Soccer starts in about an hour and I’ll be there on and off until 5pm, so that will take care of the bulk of the day. Didn’t run the dishwasher last night, figured I could squeeze the morning Instant B’fast mug in there, so I’ll turn it on before I leave. Cold again (35F) and rain due tonight, but they are promising warmer temperatures this week…we’ll see.

FCM, enjoy the movie and let us know how it is. Read a good review of it yesterday and if you concur, may go see it (haven’t been to the movies in a couple of years now). Glad FCD is sleeping well, that improves ones outlook on life.

Congrats on the recognition, Roadrunner; it’s always a nice feeling.

Taters, you realize we’ll need pictures of the new furniture…

shoe, I imagine Gentleman Caller didn’t kiss just the owie…<wink, wink, nudge nudge>

boo fae, enjoy the weekend.

OK, need to get dressed for chasing 7-11 year old soccer players in a gym (sounds like a cheapo horror film…). Take care all.

Must have been a night for it. I conked out around 8:30 and just got up at 0700 (only a couple of the nightly pee trips). I think all this packing and sorting activity and the stress of getting the place ready to sell finally caught up with me.

Good morning.

Big lack of sleep here, but that is nothing new here.

I am currently looking online at dumpster/skip rentals. I want a big enough one to make this worth it, but I also am not interested in spending a grand. I think I may have found a company, so I’m going to give them a call and get the skinny. Ideally, I’d like it delivered next Saturday, and picked up on Monday. That gives us plenty of time to break down the couch, haul stuff from the catch-all room downstairs, as well as do some closet cleanout in the den and entryway. Plus that stupid broken treadmill. I’m thinking 25 yards will be good (that stupid sectional is big and takes up a lot of space). If not, I will have had the majority of stuff cleaned out and the rest can be easily accommodated in a pick-up truck.

I am not keen strangers traipsing through my house. I know that sounds weird and now I sound like some weird hoarder. I am not. I just don’t like people traipsing around in the private area of the house (the bedrooms are all located upstairs). The lack of a pick-up truck put a serious crimp in the dump runs and renting trucks in the last two years has become a near impossibility. Every time we try to rent one, there are none to be found. I don’t know what the deal is. Besides, by the time you put together rental fees and dump fees, it’s getting expensive, for just a trailer or small truck rental. I might as well bite the bullet, get a dumpster and get everything out that I want to go. If there is a little left, our friend has a pick-up we can use when it’s not such an overwhelming job. Doing that right now would result in multiple dump runs.

It’s still dang cold here, but supposedly the rain moves in this afternoon.

I hope you all have a terrific day.

Did you check with your local trash hauling folks? That’s who we got our skip from. They charge for the container (for a week), and then there is a charge for each ton of debris you end up putting in it.

Cookie, yes I looked at our local trash hauling company, but they received horrible reviews. The dumpster rental companies I’m looking at have several options one day vs multi-day, and of course, charge for each ton of debris they haul away.

It’s the weekend! Yay!!

Bills have been paid, exam prep course homework has been done, and I’ve been watching/listening to a recording of last Saturday’s piano workshop session. The theory is way too advanced for me, which I’d been afraid of, so I just emailed the instructor to let her know that I won’t be attending this afternoon’s session after all. I’m glad for her handouts and the opportunity to watch the recording, though, and I’ll try to start using the handouts to practice. I’ve been playing the piano for 43 years, but I only took lessons until 8th grade and I’m definitely more of a singer than a pianist. I’m somewhat interested in establishing some jazz piano skills, but not enough to really do much about it.

I have a single-serving Keurig and a handful of tea K-cups, but I’m not much of a “hot drink” person: most often, I just use it to heat water for instant oatmeal. I have an electric kettle, but the minimum amount of water it requires takes much longer to heat than the 8 oz I dump into the Keurig. So, the electric kettle is currently on a shelf in the pantry. Maybe I should give it and the Keurig away and get a smaller kettle.

It’s almost 1pm: time to relocate from my home office to the living room, and have some lunch! Now that I’ve dropped out of the afternoon workshop I have no plans for the rest of the day, which means there’s lots of TV in my future. I’ll watch last night’s episode of Shark Tank, catch up on the current season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and finish watching S1 of Reacher…to start.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Awesome! Congrats! :tada:

:beers:

I should have remembered about Popeye’s!

Happy Saturday!

It was freezing, 28 feels like 20 degrees, at the park this morning. It felt colder, and there were some flurries.
The dogs had a great time, they love the cold. Ripple did more running today than he usually does in a year; I think. He is about the only one who isn’t intimidated by the 3-pack.

It’s been a not so nice week.
It started with falling. My knee is feeling better unless something, like a dog, bumps into it. It’s also mostly numb to touch.
My son’s unemployment is still messed up. I can’t do anything there but wait, I guess.
Maryland says I owe them a shit ton of taxes. I’m not in the right head space to pull out last year’s returns and see if they are right. I think I may gather up all tax stuff from last year and for this year and dump it on some poor accountants’ desk. Let them deal with the headache.
My mother has some health issues that may or may not be serious. I can tell she is scared. Her doctor, the hospital, and the labs are not communicating well with each other, adding to her frustration. Neice1 is handling a lot of this. She is pretty good at being thorough, following up, and being a bitch when necessary.

So, I’ve read but not retained much.

Sari I hope your knee recovers, the tax guys are completely wrong, and your mom is healthy. You’ve got a lot going on.
