Washed the garage door, then ran out of ambition for the day and decided to make cinnamon-maple-pecan buns instead. The dough is now resting in the fridge for an hour.
Oh yeah, and we picked up the photos from the cat photographer today:

Howdy Y’all! I did make it over to the church house this mornin’ to deal with candles. Whilst there I got waylaid by the Senior Warden who was in semi freak out mode. He has a lot to deal with now that we are Priestless. Is too a word, I just made it up. He just needed to let it all out, I think, so I was glad I could be there for him. We have supply Priests lined up and are now in the search for an Interim as well as doin’ stuff toward the search for a new Priest. I reminded him this all takes time and that we’ve done it before, so we’ll do it again. Seems like he just needed to hear all that. Since I was out and about, I picked up N.O,L. for OYKW and me at the Booger King.
roadrunner congrats on the kudos! Come back and play some more.
shoe hope the ouchie is better today. I am sure GC was a source of much solace.
sari hope the knee is better and things are OK with your mom. Hope the tax thing is OK too.
A very handsome young man. He isn’t a blur heading for the hills, so he settled down a least a little for the pictures. ![]()
Q’itih is a she, actually. She got away from me three times and dove under a couch each time. She sat there most of the time looking apprehensive and unhappy with the situation, but finally settled a bit. She’ll be Miss September in the cat calendar for next year.
I hope that you have a better week ahead sari.
Q’itih is a very pretty cat cookie.
I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and a little congested. I’ve done a couple of shots of the Mucinex free daytime stuff and will switch to the nighttime at bedtime. If I’m not much better tomorrow, I’ll test. Oy!
I made a quick pan of chicken veggie soup for lunch and picked up some pork yat gaw and an aig roll from the place down by Fud Kitty. Right now, the plan is to consume a lot of broth.
Back home again.Cyrano was meh - I explained in detail on FB, if you’re interested. We went to The Green Turtle for late lunch/early supper and tried their brussels sprouts appetizer - it was quite good! Roasted, then topped with bacon and BBQ sauce. I let FCD have all the bacon - the sprouts were really tasty! The rest of the meal was just OK - I doubt that we’ll go back any time soon.
After wards, we went to daughter’s house for a little visit - we haven’t seen Roxy for a week, nor have we seen SIL for some time. So we shot the breeze there for an hour or so, and now we’re in the veg mode.
Tomorrow, we’ll be in the shop - I’m going to start moving shelves while FCD gets the CNC router up and running so he can make the new name plates for our boat. Not sure how long we’ll last or how much we’ll get done, but any bit will be that much less to do next time.
SIL’s knee surgery has been re-re-re-scheduled for Apr 5 - he’s hurting something awful (torn ACL and meniscus.) While he’s recuperating, I’ll have to take Roxy to school in the morning for about a week anna half. Then we go on our cruise, so I’ll definitely be ready for a break.
Meanwhile, I just got our tax stuff back from the accountant. We don’t owe as much as I feared, but it’s still 5 figures, dammit. I vastly underestimated what we owed the state. But we’ve got it. It’ll take a bite out of savings, but I guess that’s why we save, right? I asked the accountant how much we need to be withholding based on our retirement income and I’ll make sure we don’t get in this mess next year.
Meanwhile, some mega-millionaires aren’t paying anything - that’s what pisses me off the most. grrrrrrrrr
I started to post yesterday, but it sounded cranky even though I wasn’t feeling cranky, so I didn’t. I haven’t heard from my friend in two days. I know the odds are that she’s OK, and it’s not like he primary concern should be keeping me updated, but I’m a worrier from way back.
Today I realized I needed to go to the bank. I pay the housecleaner in cash at her request, and I didn’t have any. I didn’t want to go tomorrow when the kids call, Monday is Big Needle Day, and Tuesday is housecleaner day, so I walked over. Why do I keep thinking “Maybe this time it won’t hurt?” Geez, Nellie. Plus it’s cold and rainy, so I lay down and had a cup of tea when I got home.
shoe, hope the cut is healing. It sounds like you might have needed a stitch, but I know how pricey that can be. Glad you’re having fun with the gentleman caller.
Taters, good luck on the Dumpster search.
swampy, how often do you have to do this candle stuff? Good on you for being a good shoulder for the Senior Warden to freak out on. You seem like a calming influence in general.

That middle photo is STUNNING. Those eyes!
Darn it, I forgot to say how much I loved the Q’itih portraits. What a beauty! And I’m amazed how serene she appears even though she apparently wasn’t.
My posts are always way too long. I wish I could reply to everyone on here because I love all your posts.
I was all set to put some frozen Trader Joe’s chicken parmesan into the oven (with some string cheese on top for extra mozzarella). SWMBO said, ‘Can you make escargots?’ So I did. I had to go to the corner market for white wine and mushrooms. We had those, and it sounds like she’s getting her chicken parm now. (I just finished mine.)
Nope, not ever! You can take that to the bank (on second thought, don’t. Stay home and coddle that back)
My apologies to Milady Q’itih. bows extravagantly over my plumed hat while sweeping my cape to one side
I’m supposed to make steak for dinner, only I took a little nap. It turned into 3 hours and now I feel that everyone should wait 3 hours or so for me to catch up. It seems only reasonable. My teenage son begs to differ.
So far, no signs of infection (it was a dirty knife, so I was concerned) and Gentleman Caller has medical training (he’s a surgical tech) and he confirmed it seemed to be healing O.K.
It’s super windy again in western Mitten State, so the sound is trying to rouse my anxiety. I’m trying to hold onto the feelings of happiness & peace from earlier (the dude is snuggly, which is what I needed desperately after so much isolation) and also, to eat more.
The procrastination continues. My Dispo Friend w 7 Cats & Hot Tub hit me up earlier today, so, I mean, c’mon, what was I gonna do, not head over?
Afterwards, once I got back home, I ate all the things & then took a much-needed nap.
Now I’m having boiled eggs & buttered sesame toast while Nik and Monk have some gooshy food.
With the shortage of canned cat fud lately, they better savor it!
Time for him to learn to cook.
Rush trips to Walmart to replace a broken tablet are not fun. Neither is having to reinstall all the apps, redownload various data, etc., ad nauseam.
Heaved. Put in a load of laundry, and took a long nap. Now it’s martini time.
: pulls out good fainting couch :
So y’all played doctor last night? < nudge nudge, wink, wink >
Sari, hope the knee feels better.
She is a pretty kitty.

{Southern Lady]Bless your heart[/Southern Lady]
Nope.
Evening all. Soccer has been refereed and coached and dinner nuked and consumed, so just waiting for the tired to set in to head off to bed. Started raining about 11am and has pretty much continued all day and according to the weather map, will last well into the night. No heavy tunder-boomers, just a good steady rain. Good for plants, bad for outside activity.
Need to decide on eat-out meal tomorrow…have a gift card for Humphrey’s, a local bar and grill, but their menu really doesn’t attract me. Or get up early for some Krispy Kreme donuts, I know they’re not good for me but fresh, hot, glazed donuts…
Sunny, sometimes 3 hour naps are what one needs, and the rest of the world can go hang.
nellie, I’ve never though your posts have been too long (I feel the same about all the dopers…you say what you need to say). And I trust that your friend is OK.
FCM, is FCD going to be OK for the cruise? That’s a relatively short recovery time, isn’t it? Guess he can just lounge on the veranda.
Cookie, lovely pictures even if the subject didn’t want to cooperate.
Sari, some weeks are like that. Take a deep breath, get a good night’s sleep, and have at it again next weeks.
Taters, hope you got some help to assist in filling up the dumpster. Understand your hesitance with strangers, but don’t underestimate the workload.
OK, after 9pm here, so need to be considering when bedtime will be. All y’all take care.
What a lovely lady! She’s calendar girl beautiful, that’s fur sure. Please post the link where one could buy a pretty kitty calendar when it’s up for sale.
nellie, sometimes you are really silly. I’m wishing you pain free days soon.
sari, you need a day off and I wish I could give it to you. Dang, girl!
They won’t. They will expect you to provide their expected tribute and you will do it even if it means driving to eleventy stores looking for the purrfect fud.
Which you will do.
Hubs bottled beer this morning so I had to wait until I did my part before going to a fellow Nextdoor lead’s moving sale. She is moving out of the state and is selling everything, so I thought I’d buy her ice trays or something. I ended up with a cute basket I can use when harvesting my crops.
Speaking of which, I started some carrots and potatoes. I’m going to pull another big planter out of the shed and get some onions started tomorrow, my back started protesting when I was moving buckets of compost around.
Talked to my parents, who are again experiencing sub-freezing temperatures. The weather’s weird. Here in Switzerland it is too dry and too warm for this time of the year. So there may be low river levels again this year.
Tried making a cherry cheese danish, but the cream cheese sort of disappeared into the pastry. Didn’t take long, since the pastry was store-bought, so didn’t lose too much time. Won’t try that recipe again, but might try with apples or some other fruit and skip the cream cheese.
Q’itih is gorgeous and I’m impressed with the photographer’s skills. Getting a pet, of any time, to pose is a special skill.
Since it’s warm-ish, we went for a long walk yesterday, and will repeat the experience today. Already tired of the Guggenmusik, but it’ll be done after Tuesday evening, and lots of people are enjoying it. I know it’s intentionally played off-key, but I just find it grating. If I wanted to listen to marching band music for 6 days, I would prefer it to be in tune.
Need to do some more cupboard cleaning. I think I ended up buying a few too many canned goods, and now I need to make sure I use everything up before it goes too far beyond the best used by date. I bought some tuna in water, and don’t particularly care for it. I’ve never heard of a canned food drive, here in Switzerland, so I can’t just donate it. Just have to put enough oil or mayo to make it flavorable enough for eating.
Trying to decide if I want to go ahead and wash all the winter clothing, such as sweaters, mittens and scarves, or wait a few more weeks. I’ll probably do some of them this week and then do the remainder next week or so. I rather doubt it’ll get really cold again, and we can anyway stay home if it’s that bad.
Guess I should go start the dishwasher and get cleaning.
Happy Sunday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and hazy, with a predicted high of 80 and partly to mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. I have Verge duty today. The Priest this mornin’ is a retired former Priest, so that will be good. Since it’s the last Sunday before the start of Lent, the candelabra, torches, and a few other items will be moved into storage after the service. Only the Altar candles are used durin’ Lent. We shall return to da cave and do sammiches for N.O,L. Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slawdawgs with oven fries. Fart fest to follow.
Nellie I fill the candles every two weeks. I could probably do it every three weeks, but I feel better with two weeks. Wouldn’t want them to be out of liquid paraffin and burn out durin’ a service, now would we. I also get to do things such as change out wicks as needed. Yee and Haw.
Cookie Q’itih (love the name) is a purty cat.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
We discussed this - it’s a cruise we’ve made before, down the coast to the Bahamas and back. We booked it just to get away, not to go anywhere, if that makes sense. So we’re agreed that we’re both OK with never leaving the ship if it comes to that. If we spend port days in a hot tub, that works!
All this talk of gooshy fud reminds me that neither Ziva nor Taz seem to like the stuff. Way back when I used to buy it, they’d lick up the liquid it was packed in, then leave the rest to dry out on the plate. So I gave up - it’s obviously not a treat for them. Guess there’s something about this house that turns critters weird - Higgs hates to go in the car - what dog is like that??
How about ranch dressing? I’ve used that in egg salad and it seems to work well.
I crashed a bit early last night so I’m up too early today. I’ll just settle into the recliner and read once I’m done surfing. At some point, I need to run out to the shop and start the pellet stove to warm things up there. But definitely not till it’s light out. And even with futzing out there today, it’s going to be a semi-lazy day, since there’s no rush to get things done - we can take our time and quit when we want.
And I’m thinking I’ll reschedule my Dr appt a week later - I’ll call about it tomorrow. Other than that, onward! Happy Sunday!!
