The Delaware Primer MMP

Hi all! I’ve heard of Delaware, but only in the context of every other American company being incorporated in Delaware.

11 days till we leave on vacation!

Okay, off to forage for din-dins!

Gooood Morning Mumpers!

Happy Birthday Noonie!!

I feel colorful this morning, I have no idea why.

I’ve never been to Delaware–haven’t even driven through it, but I do know where it is on the map!

Rigs I remember that store! They closed the one in my hometown when I was in college. I don’t know if there are any more at all. I remember them most for their toy department when I was a kid. They had the plastic playschool houses out on the floor for kids to play in. I wanted one of those! Then when I was a teenager, their jewelry department was quite nice. <ah memories>

:: Thinks thoughts of snow for snowbunny :: Of course, it had better stay in the west. I don’t want any of that crap here on the East Coast.

Later Gators!!

I went camping in Delaware a couple of years ago, but forget the name of the place. Beyond that, never been much up to date on Delaware. I might have to give it a visit.

This weekend I took the wife to see the Cirque du Soliel show “Kooza”. It was our third Cirque, and I gotta say, the Kooza performers are the not ready for primetime folks I think. Mediocre overall, and lots of mistakes both in the scripts and the performances.

Got nothing else, still half asleep from turkey overdose.

Never been to Delaware–haven’t visited much on the Right Coast. I’ve been to the airport at Newark, and have visited le Pomme Grande but that’s about it for my Northeast adventures. Toll roads have got to be the biggest bucket of suck ever, though, and I don’t think I’d ever pay to go on one. Bridge tolls are inevitable, but there’s ALWAYS another road!

So, I got my nice letter from Unemployment saying “Congrats, you have more bennies! Just file online as usual!” However, they’ve managed to fix the web site so it doesn’t reflect these new benefits and will not allow me to file online as usual. So I, and apparently 7.3% of the residents of Oregon, have been trying to call them this morning to helpfully make them aware of their error. Apparently, all circuits are busy… This pisses me off, because I’m an old hand at dealing with these lovely people and call three minutes before 0800, so that once I’m past the helpful voice menu and have input my SSN I will be right in line for the “wait forever” queue. This morning, though, even at 0801 the annoying “we’re not open yet so nyeah!” recording was STILL ON, even though it’s demostrably past 0800 and the next time I tried to get through all circuits are busy. Not that I’m bitter or anything. Not that it’s been a month without income to speak of and it’s getting tighter than a hot water washed and fiery dryer dried girdle or anything. :smack: Fookin’ barstids… Perhaps I should just drive on down to Salem and freak out in their lobby or something.

Other than that, I have intestinal distress of an untidy nature and not much more to report. I’m sure coffee will help! :dubious:

I don’t think I’ve ever been to Delaware.

I’m home with a case of the pukes and a major headache.

Good luck with your procedure tomorrow, rigs. I hope the results are good news.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Feeling too sick to stay on.

I think I’ve been through Delaware, but only as a kid, and I definitely don’t remember much!

I’m just getting back to the MMP after Thanksgiving. We had a good time at my parents’ with them and a couple of their neighbors for T-day. Friday we went to Gettysburg for the day. Interesting, but a bit depressing!

Saturday we flew home. I’m really glad we left then and didn’t run into the bad weather and crowds on Sunday!

Yesterday we put up our Christmas trees. We each had one when we met, and they’re both small so we still put both of them up. Mine’s little and sits on a table (It’s probably 4’ tall off the table, and it sits well on a console table in front of the window in our sitting area off the kitchen.) and is decorated all in silver and white. KT’s is probably 8’ tall but very skinny so it’s sitting in the lower living room between two couches. It’s decorated with all of his Hallmark ornaments plus my unique ornaments - you know the kind that someone made for you or the ones that are personalized or whatever, the ones that have memories attached to them. I like having the two different styles of decoration on two different trees. They’re both really pretty in very different ways. This year, for the first time, we have an outdoor area that we could decorate as well. We’re thinking about some lights along the patio fence and maybe a small wreath on the door.

Happy Monday Mumpers and a Very Happy Birthday to Noonie!!!

Getting back to work this morning has been a real drag. Getting UP this morning has been a real drag. At least the day is going by fast.

smarty, you crack me up with your analogies. I immediately related to that ‘girdle’ one.

That’s about it from here.

ETA: Though I’ve passed through Delaware many times, nothing memorable comes to mind except…DAMN that’s a small state!

Tupug

Howdy, all. Delaware is a purty state. We like to go drive around the countryside (and maybe stop in Harrington and gamble a bit) and count the deer; there are lots and lots of deer. And I mean lots. Plus pretty farms, so it’s very pastoral and peaceful.

Oh, and for those of you driving through Delaware? Don’t take the toll road! Get on US 310, which not only has the benefit of being wide open 4-lane with little traffic, but it bypasses the whole DC metro area and hooks up with toll-less 95 down in Virginia. Faster, cheaper, and little traffic – what more could you ask for?

The other advantage to Delaware, besides being home to 75% of the corporate entities in the US? No sales tax, so shopping is cheap. Well worth the drive occasionally!

We had a pretty quiet weekend other than the open house at FCM’s. Papa Tigs was trying a new style of mask on his CPAP – his old one died dead – and simply could not sleep with the new one. Plus he developed a cold or some such upper respiratory gunk, so was thoroughly miserable and really, really cranky. So I pretty much hid in my office and either worked or pretended to, out of self-defense. Plus I did have a pile of work to do, plus a two-color hat I’m working on for my SIL for Christmas. It’s a Swedish-style dubbelmössa, that looks a lot like these – the actual pattern I’m knitting is the one on the right in the top photo. It’s going so quickly I might knit her a scarf to match; we shall see. I’m using pure alpaca yarn so it will be super-warm, since she lives in the middle of nowhere out beyond Ketchum, which is already pretty darn close to the middle of nowhere! I finally got my camera set up with my new 'puter, so I will post photos when I finish it. I’m rather pleased, if I do say so myself!

Good luck with the unemployment [del]idiots[/de]folks, Smarty. Having dealt with Social Security [del]idiots[/de]folks for years with snowbunny, I understand your pain. I say a pox on all their houses!

Time to get back to work. This transcript won’t type itself, even though I keep begging Papa Tigs to install some of those magical elves inside my 'puter to do just that. He claims he doesn’t know how to install them, but I think he’s just pretending he doesn’t know because he’s mean!

Hey, y’all.

The Great Love of My High School Life lives in Delaware, so I’ve actually seen the lower part of the state. They also have the annual Punkin Chunkin in Bridgeport, which is something I’ve always wanted to attend.

A 4 day weekend was not enough. I’ve started my whole week with a meh.

Carry on.

I’m a Delaware resident. BTW Vunderbob the town is Bridgeville. It is located in Sussex County (lower, slower Delaware) a town based mainly around the agriculture in the area. I like Delaware. It’s quiet yet within easy reach of several major cities: 3-4 hours from New York City, 1-2 hours from Philadelphia, 1-2 hours from Balimore, 2-3 hours from D.C, 3-4 hours from Richmond, 3-4 hours from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. The tolls are high and whats more is the tolls on Rt.1 go up to 2 dollars from Friday night to Sunday night, otherwise it is a dollar. If you are coming from up north you have to pay twice. A round trip to Wilmington on the weekend costs me 8 bucks. But we do have nice beaches and NASCAR (for those interested in going fast and turning left, I’m not).

OK, I saw the last Punkin Chunkin show this weekend, and I fell asleep much against my wishes. My foggy mind misremembered the name.

Sue me. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll let it slide this time but next time I’ll sic the chickens on ya!

HI!!

I’m back.

runs to hide behind the ficus

Mindy!!! Good to see ya! (behind the ficus)

Hey, quo vadis in the ficus, there? Eh?

I guess the other irritated customers had the salutary effect on the unemployment people of causing them to update the fabulous online claim system, which just allowed me to claim my week o’bennies, hooray! Sure bet them fucktards are wishing they’d paid somebody time and a half to work the T-giving weekend updating their database, huh? Poxin’s too good for 'em, I say!

Pugs, always happy to please–just remember, you can’t have an analogy without “anal” and “log!” Heh heh… ow my butt hurts, WTF did I EAT?

Hi everybody from sunny but cold Eastern Europe! (Well, it was sunny. Been dark for quite a few hours now.)

I’ll assume all those wishing happy birthday intended their wishes for Special Teen (who turned sweet 16 today!)
I’m old…

The differene between Rhode Island and Delaware is that I’ve been to Rhode Island. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Mork!!

{{{}}} to all the ouchies, sickies and those raging against the machine… read all but retained little, again, sorry! :o

Mork’s back!!!

I was just about to hunt you down, boy! Except I didn’t know where to look. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad to see you back. I’ve missed your posts.

Happy Birthday,** Lunch**! So you’re an old man now? Just how old are we talking about? Crickety old or distinguished old?

Well, I’m sure as all get-out not distinguished!

45, if you really need to know.

Frickin’ babies…

steps out from the ficus

I, uh… um … was just checking the, uh, foliage. For aphids.

No aphids. Needs water. Come to think of it I need a drink, too. I’ve been blogging on one blog, and blogging on another blog. Then I’ve been working on a game with my partner in crime. And trying to maintain some semblance of a home life, and my usual day job drudgery.

I kept meaning to pop back in here but I wanted to do it on a Monday in the MMP and it kept slipping by as I just did more blogging and crap. But today, Og damnit, I wasn’t going to let it pass again. I miss the comparative sanity of this place. It gets so lonely blogging all the damn time.

Heff - Oh, I’m sure you can find me. I don’t want to link directly to it for fear of it coming off like a plug, but I’m sure if you Googled “frapstr” I’d come up as the first hit. (Yeah, that’s all me. The other blog is me 'n the other guy and sometimes someone else so it’s a shared duty, but this one’s all mine.) You’ll probably be able to see part of what I’ve been chained to for the last couple of months, anyway.

I’m not blogging now both because I’m here, and because my phone needed recharging. Also because I don’t feel like it.

Soooooo … what have I missed? Anything interesting? Juicy? Amusing? Frightening? Heart-warming? Recreationally outrageous? Bittersweet? Scandalous? Salacious? Lugubrious? Bacon-flavoured? Mauve?
