The discourse here is bad for my mental and physical health, and yours, too. Prove me wrong

There’s an organization I belong to that includes among its standard guidance, “What that person thinks about you is none of your business.” Wise indeed.

I’m the version that worked out all the bugs. Yeah, that’s it—new and improved.

You don’t really wanna know.

And I’ve been told too many times I turn threads into “all about me”

I don’t wanna go down that trail again, here in the pit.

(Ah, shit. I did it again. I don’t know how it affects K9s health, mental or physical)

I’ve taken more than one multi-year leave of absence from this watering hole. Recommended.

k9, I’m not having it. You scolded folks real hard in another thread, then when I expressed my surprise at your attack, you accused me of misrepresenting you and huffed off. I apologized and asked for clarification. Instead, you come over here and drop an enormous screed about --well, I’m not gonna paraphrase, since whatever I say seems likely to lead to further accusations of misrepresentation–and suggest you’re leaving again because this place is bad for you.

So leave, then. This place is bad for you? That’s evident. Right now, you’re bad for this place, too. You don’t need to wag your finger at everyone on the way out the door; just go, if you can’t add productively to the conversation.

But here we are, yet again…

Speaking purely theoretically, I suppose it might be possible for some people sometimes to get so engaged in Dopescrolling that they delay or neglect other activities, thereby degrading their lifestyle hygiene in areas like food, exercise, sleep etc.

None of us, natch.

Everyone knows that God invented sleep so that we’d have something to give up in order to spend more time on message boards.

I’ve thought of that, but after 24 years and 29,000+ posts, it would be a little disheartening if I made so little impression that no one noticed my absence.

I’m at 14,900. My God.

33.6k since 2017

Too much?

5.3k posts since 2005. I’m a serious underachiever.

But I read the boards daily.

If you have any questions as you read, please start a thread on it. It is a favorite topic for a lot of us long time dopers.

And those automatic and stupid “don’t let the door hit you in the ass” posts people loved to make.

I’ve taken hiatuses over the last 19 years also. I don’t think I ever completely left, but I cut down on my reading and posting quite a bit at times in the teens.

@k9bfriender, I hope you find a way to interact with the board that works for you. I missed your “voice” while you were gone. Also one of the easily identifiable avatars. Either way, good luck and enjoy the book(s).

Same. And i really value your perspective in a bunch of areas i know nothing about.

I was thinking of doing just that. It might help me get through the sloggy parts, and keep me accountable.

If one starts neglecting personal hygiene, then yes, it’s definitely time to step away from the board.

Wow, I post a lot and I’m at 40.2k posts created since 2005.

You don’t really want the answer to that do you?

Yes. The answer is “yes.”

Wow! For a first time reader, that’s an ambitious choice!

You have to admit. I add something to the Dope.
Alot of somethings.
