David Morrissey’s already had his shot. Sort of.
But this time it could be for real along with some timey-wimey Moffett retconning to somehow tie it all back to The Next Doctor.
Rumors about many missing episodes found:
Original rumor:

Apparently a hoax…Last week, we all got our hopes up that the huge gaps in Doctor Who’s history, with whole years of the show basically gone, might be filled in with thereturn of a bunch of missing episodes. And now, the inevitable has happened and reality has set in.
Bleeding Cool, which seemed so sure that it had multiple credible sources for the story about dozens of missing Doctor Who episodes being returned, is now backing off that story at light speed. In a nutshell, Rich Johnston now says that this was a hoax that was played not just on fans but also on the BBC itself — there’s an “individual” up there who was negotiating in bad faith and “playing up his own eccentricities” to hide the fact that he had no proof that these episodes existed.

Might be true after all.
Ian Levine is the reason we have many of the earliest Doctor Who stories intact, years after the BBC destroyed a lot of their old recordings. He personally rescued the tapes of “The Daleks” from being incinerated. And he was one of the loudest voices denouncing the “90 missing Doctor Who episodes recovered” rumor as a hoax. But now, he’s just taken to Twitter, claiming he’s seen proof and it’s all true.

The rumour of a stash of missing episodes from that source has been going around for a long time. I’ll believe it when I see it (and I really want to see it).
Squeak! The BBC have had “a number of episodes” returned. Is it too much to hope for the whole of The Power of The Daleks? Troughton’s first serial…
BBC cite: BBC to reveal a number of missing Doctor Who episodes - BBC News
Yes, I didn’t notice that article was from the Daily Mirror (not the most reputable site).
But it sounds like SOME episodes were found

Some images from the drama An Adventure in Space and Time have been released:
Is it too much to ask that this cast do a 12th Doctor meets the 1st episode?
One of the theories I heard about John Hurt was that he’s the Doctor’s 0th regeneration (IOW, he’s the being that was born the regular way) and Hartnell is the 1st regenerated Doctor.

ITS BEEN TOO LONG WITHOUT DOCTOR WHO ON TV! I can’t wait to see this! And I’m going to miss Matt.
Me too. Then again I felt the same way about David, and to a lesser degree (just because his run was so short) Christopher. Yet each time the new guy’s come through, so I’ll certainly give the new fella a fair chance.
Here is some analysis of the trailer:

…for those people who have been suffering extensive Matt Smith withdrawal (or for that matter David Tennant withdrawal!)

And a BBC Station Ident…
OK, wow… wowowowowowow. That extended trailer really got me.
Spoiler-ish reaction (based only on the trailer):
ok, first: Ten! Rose! eeeeeee! (yes, I knew they would be there, but it’s nice to actually see them) I’m still working my way through old-Who, so the only time I’ve seen the doctor meet himself before was Time Crash, and since I didn’t have a connection to Five at the time, it was nice, but not this nice. Really lovely to see them together, both The Doctor, but both their Doctor. Can’t wait for more of that.
Spoiler-ish speculation (based only on the trailer):
So is the John Hurt non-doctor doctor the one responsible for the end of the Time War, then? Not 8, as we thought all this time. I’m ok with that, and intrigued. Always wanted to know more about the Time War. Was that planet with the broken dome-like tower Skaro or Gallifrey?
Fantham Events is having the special in theaters. Man, I really want to go.
The VOs and the end of the last episode referred to John Hurt’s character as “The One who came before”
Before what (Who?) is the question. It’s possible that he’s Doctor Prime, but then why would Doctor 1’s picture be on Doctor 11’s library card?
