As the most recent series has ended and we now have only repeats until Christmas, I hope to indulge in some idle speculation as to what the other future specials might hold or alternatively suggest some specials that we as the viewers would like to see.
As I stated in another thread I’m not enamoured of the return of the Cybus Cybermen, but may be pleasantly surprised, we’ll see.
What I’d really like to see, but am unlikely to, is a special with Derek Jacobi returning as the Master showing his resurrection and the battle at the cruciform. In fact, in this vein, anything that fleshes out what we already know of the time war. Maybe they could tie in the 8th Doctor’s demise and regeneration too. This being the only regeneration (that we know of, not counting the alleged past incarnations shown in The Brain of Morbius) not seen on screen to date.
Anyone else got any ideas for specials or the next series?
We already had Rowan Atkinson doing a comedy version of Doctor Who.
So now I want a Who/Blackadder II crossover.
With a twist that Lord Melchett turns out to be the villain.
The final scene: They say their goodbyes, Baldrick strangely absent. The Tardis disappears. Five seconds later it reappears. The door opens and Baldrick flies out head first. Then it disappears again. Blackadder snarks at him, whereupon Baldrick announces that he’s going to build his own time machine.
At the risk of sounding like a me-too, I’ve got to say McGann McGann McGann McGann. I suggest a storyline in which Paul McGann’s Doctor meets David Tennant’s Doctor, and they pal around together. I’d call it “The Doctor Beside Himself.”
I’d like to see more of River Song.
I’d also love to see some overlap with Torchwood. Martha did it, why not the Doctor? He’d be an interesting temp hire. And Jack could flirt with him again.
McGann AND River Song. You know they’d be gorgeous together.
In fact, let me clarify. No Tennant necessary in this one. I lurve Ten and all, but let David take some time off, do a play, let Paul be the Doctor in a few.
RTD made sure of that in more ways than one, even if someone could convincingly bring them back to the Doctor Who universe, could we bear another story where an army of them appears and is then beaten to one who disappears in an emergency temporal transport? :smack:
Children in Need specials aside, we’ve not had a multi-Doctor story since “The Five Doctors”. Tom Baker regretted not taking part in that one so he might be happy to take part, even if we don’t have the “one series been here too recently” Ecclestone Doctor, that’s Baker, Davison, Baker (again), McCoy and McGann to step up and join Tennent. Davison and Tennent seemed to get on quite well for their charity special Time Crash, even the two of them would be pretty decent.
Other than that, I’d like to see the Ice Warriors again, or perhaps the Raston Warrior Robot, but they’re general character appearances and not something you’d need to base a special around.
