Well I asked my mother who’s a big Doctor Who fan (not that I’m not) and she said Horton Hears a Who. I found that rather charming, an elephant bending down to see an itty bitty tiny little Tardis.
I have to second (or third or whatever) that no Daleks are needed, thanks.
I think bringing back Ace would be very interesting. I know the New Adventure novels established why/how she stopped traveling with the Doctor, but I’d like to see it in the series.
Don’t know if I could stomach Peri again. That accent. Ack.
I wouldn’t mind a multi-Doctor story, especially if it had to do with the fall out from the Time War. As long as it doesn’t include Daleks.
ETA: I think something with the Seventh and Eighth would be great. I doubt Chris Eccelston will reprise the role for anything, but he’d be a good addition too.
“The Two Doctors” with Colin Baker and Patrick Troughton.
D’oh! :smack:
Still, over twenty years since this story, a multi-Doctor story would be nice. Although thinking about it, would it need to be something that was kept away from RTD? He’s keen on the kitchen sink style of story telling, that’s for sure. Could he really do ill with a story that demands we have everyone thrown in?
To be fair the series four finale had everything and the kitchen sink thrown in and was still pretty good overall.
I agree with the sentiment of “no more Daleks” for the foreseeable future. If I want Daleks I can listen to the big finish audios.
In your opinion - in mine the first part of the two-parter was absolute drek. By the time all the characters were introduced into the story there wasn’t actually time enough to do anything.
I want to see the Doctor lose. The Earth is already preparing itself for when the Doctor isn’t around. I want him to fail while the Earth saves itself, at a huge cost. They’ll blame their previous reliance on the Doctor for their inability to defend themselves when needed. Eventually they’ll tell him to mind his own, unless asked first.
That sets up the next 13 episodes quite nicely I think. I’m sure he can win them over in time, lets face it, Earth is in over it’s head, but it will take a while.
Huh. I like the Daleks. They are so very retro. It takes major guts to write in something that looks so stupid, yet is necesary to preserve continuity. I think this is won of the many ways Enterprise messed up. They had better technology than TOS. They had the perfect opportunity to degenerate their tech back to analog when their electronics stopped working properly in the void.
I would like to see the Doctor regenerate into a female. I think that the whole Doctor/female companion thing bugs me abit. I realize that this was a tradition that developed at a different time, but it is time to make a gutsy move like this. If the doctors daughter takes over for a while that may be OK, but it really isn’t the same since she will never be THE Doctor. Also, I don’t see any reason that The Doctor always has to be a caucasion. Don’t get me wrong, Doctor Who is relatively progressive, and I don’t mean to rant. I just think these changes would be refreshing and potentially interesting.
Inevitably though, people would probably respond negatively to these changes,so I doubt it will every happen.
Also, I’d like to see Rose Tyler doing jumping jacks naked.
Actually, that could be a pretty good idea for a series while Tennant wants a year off to do other stuff.
Get UNIT and Torchwood in a joint series. Throw in some Sally Sparrow now that her eyes have been opened to the larger world. Have some Doctor cameos like “Blink” where he basically isn’t even in the episode except in some bits sprinkled through the season.
You’d end up with something kick ass or the most reviled season of Doctor Who ever.

TV worth watching!
The Brig just filmed an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures (the second season).
I guess it’ll air in the fall (northern hemisphere).
How about an episode entirely set within the TARDIS? In the whole ‘Nu Who’ series so far, we’ve only ever seen the console room. What does the rest of the ship look like?
Is the Sarah Jane Adventures as…I’ll just say “bad” as it seemed from her and her kid on the last episode of the recent Who season?

YMMV. It’s definitely kid oriented. To me it is has a tone not unlike the “classic” Dr. Who series. Besides the pilot, all episodes are two-parters so they end with a cliffhanger. Give it a try, there are certainly worse ways to kill a couple of hours. I believe the DVDs are due to hit in the fall (in the USA).
There’s a swimming pool and lots of space for clothing. As ever, the inevitable question over whether or not there exists a toilet inside remains unanswered.
Do they really look that bad to you? I thought it was still a great idea to have a robot that isn’t another android of sorts, the little tin pot dictator look works well too.
Well, we still need to learn about the Timewar and experience the various adventures with River Song and the Doctor’s daughter. I’d love it if the next incarnation of the Doctor was Dominic Monaghan. And some sort of appearance by Anthony Stewart Head would be cool. And maybe a visit to Douglas Adams which resembles his stories and it is implied they were based on his adventures with the Doctor (a depressed cyberman as Marvin! A mention by the Doctor of the Tardis’ infinite improbability drive! The invention of psychic paper by a race of babel fish! Battle with a beurocratic constructor fleet!).
Of course it’s my opinion, no one else’s is mine to give. We’ll have to agree to differ (hopefully).
I didn’t think it was that rushed, certainly not when compared to other “Star Trek” type endings in DW episodes. They had about 15 minute left at the end to wrap up the whole Donna/Doctor thing, which IMHO was the least satisfying part of the episode. Strangely, even though I hate her comedy work, I really enjoyed the character of Donna and was sad to see her leave.
I like the Daleks too, but for a species that were on the verge of extinction they’ve showed up a lot in DW recently. I’m not opposed to their eventual return, but they need a good long rest so that when they do return it can be with real menace. Not just “Oh it’s the last two episodes of series x, must be the Daleks again”.
Not sure I’d like that, although assuming the Doctor is now on his 11th regeneration, if they were to kill him off in two actors time then I would have no problem with Jenny taking over the TARDIS. I always wondered what the Beeb would do when he ran out of regenerations, that will be interesting to see.
She’s not doing jumping jacks, but she is at least partially unclothed in The Secret Diary of a Call Girl (May not be safe for work viewing).
Or jumping Naked Captain Jack?
