The Dodgeball Thread

Oh man, there is nothing I love more than a pseudo-pirate. Comedy gold!

I went to see it, and I loved it. Absurd, silly humour. Sublime.

Something I loved about the movie, which may or may not have been intentional, as the following:
The “good guys” and the “bad guys” face off in the final match. What’s the name of the good guys? Average Joes. The bad guys? Purple Cobras. Their simplified names? Joes and Cobras. Yes, my friends, the Joes beat the Cobras.

In case you still don’t get it, the G.I.Joe cartoon (and toys, and comics, etc…) had G.I.Joe (the Joes) beat Cobra.

That was my problem, too. How could you not predict nearly every single joke? This goes along with why I hated Scary Movie 3. Maybe if I comedically thought slower, I could like it.

There you have it. Dodgeball is Proustian in its complexity.

I noticed that as well!!!

I was too busy chuckling at the Purple Cobra name basically being a nob gag.

Overall I enjoyed it.

The submissive gag was funny.

I found it odd that only myself and one other person in the theatre laughed at the King Midas’s silver gag.
It’s a funny gag - isn’t it?
