MUST teach meeting leader the phrase “The brain can on!y absorb as long as the ass can endure”. 9-6 meeting, broke for lunch & 8 mins about 1:30; that was it! I’m brain dead (aka FlyTrap on a normal day)!
Time for bed for me, I have to get up early.
Of course I always wake up in the middle of the night anyway, so if I do I may as well just stay up.
Got to class tonight to find it was cancelled. Wish the professor had simply sent out an email so we knew not to come in (especially those living half an hour or more away would have appreciated that).
Dealing with traffic gave me the crankies.
Thanks everybody, it’s been a good day. I got cupcakes from coworkers, a promotion(and a small raise), went to the Booster club meeting. My friend John got one of the players to sgin a picture for me, and the Booster club sang Happy Birthday to me(and so did our guest speaker, Chuck Kaiton, the radio guy for the Canes)
the only downside is two of my hockey friends are in the hospital, one with complications from cancer, and one with a possible stroke.
Mooommmm!, glad they whacked off the lump.
Good luck with your promotion, sari!
Home and very very cultured - we attended the St Olaf Choir concert. I was lucky and offered an early out at work today so I didn’t have to miss a single note. Intermission was a rousing game of “Spot the Pastor” - I spotted 11. And the really noteworthy thing of the night was watching two blonde Nordic kids doing Tibetan Throat Singing. Freaky — just flat out freaky.
Big exciting day here - I get to pick up my new glasses this morning, and I’ve got a date this afternoon with my last real boss! There’s a chance some of my former coworkers will be there, too - we shall see.
On the chore list is emptying the dishwasher and laundering a load of towels and my fuzzy robe. And **FCD **asked me to knit him a black watch cap, so I may do that also. It’s a quick project.
Meanwhile, I’m showered early. I wanted to shampoo my hair so **FCD **could treat my head wound.
I’m now breakfasting and caffeinating.
Happy Wednesday!!
Good mornin’ y’all! Up, brekkied, and caffeinatin’ still. YAWN I made oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar, scrambled aigs, and toasted bagels with cream cheese. A mostly healthy brekkie I’d say. OYKW left at six for irk. He’s doin’ a monitorin’ of a home visit at six-thirty. ‘Tis 35 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 65 for the day, so not too shabby. A cold front is movin’ in that will put highs in the low 50s for a couple of days.
doggio yay for the promotion! sari appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re your promotion. MOOOOOOM yay for havin’ bump removed but ick for sore haid. Hope it’s better soonest.
ruble St. Olaf choir? There’s a Golden Girls joke in there somewhere.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and soon, alas and alack, purtification for irk must commence.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Blurf! Pub day today, that should put things right again…
Off to see the doctor
say more when I get back
I hope traffic doesn’t suck
Blurf.
Another boring day [del]on the island of Pago Pago[/del]at irk.
Up, caffeinated, and off to work. Another long shift today.
I actually got 6 straight hours of sleep with no memorable dreams. I feel … marginally human.
When I went down to put the towels into the dryer (it’s 27° - I ain’t hanging clothes out today!) the washer wasn’t finished, so I decided to take out the guide that holds the lint filter in place. Turns out, it had a lot of lint packed around it, so I cleaned in and used the little shop vac to suck up what I could reach. It’s all back together and the towels are tumbling. As soon as they’re done, I’ll get them folded and put away before heading to pick up my glasses. I should probably get dressed before then - it’s too chilly to head out in a cotton robe and slippers, even if I do have socks on.
The sun is shining, which is nice. It perks up my spirits, even if it is stoopit cold out there.
People irk me. So what do I do fro a livin’ but deal with people. Oh well, as I’ve said before, I don’t have childrens so I must depend on irk for my recommended daily allowance of aggravation.
I won a coffee!!!
The joke is that the college is a lot like the Golden Girls jokes right down to their major sports rival - Gustavus Adolphus College. In other words, St Gustov. My friend who went there for four years is positive one of the GG writers had to be an alum.
That being said the choir is world famous for being able to do traditional chorale music as well as the more normal choir style. Vienna Boys may be more famous but St Olaf gets all the awards and trophies. Think of it as the singing version of Penn State or Notre Dame football.
St Olaf is the college but the closest town is Northfield. For extra points, without using Google - what is Northfield famous for?
I had a before irk irk-out session with my trainer and she kicked my butt. The good thing is tonight is pizza and wine at my place to show off my new kitchen. Wine and 'za shall help me recover.
kopek, wasn’t there a book or movie about the Great Northfield Raid???
My towels are laundered and put away. I’ve got my new glasses and I’m getting used to the slightly smaller field of view. I stopped at the dollar store and discovered that the dog food we buy for Higgs is a nickle a can cheaper, so I got some. I had an early lunch of leftover stuffed cabbage, and now I’m going to waste some time before thinking about doing another chore or two.
Close enough for government work. Northfield is where the local citizens shot the living crap out of the James Gang. Basically, in short form, they realized their bank was being robbed so the local hardware shop started handing out guns to whoever was on the street and unarmed - since a lot of the folks were already packing. And within minutes they formed a militia to chase after the fleeing outlaws. After only Frank and Jesse were still alive and free.
Somewhere in that is something ya just gotta admire.
Ruble actually I have heard of St. Olaf’s choir and have watched some of their youtube videos. They are good! As for the Vienna Boy’s Choir, I don’t like children’s choirs. The VBC came down heah a couple of years ago and I declined free tickets, cause, well, ick!
Now it’s N.O.L. time. YAY!
