You know that trick where you pull the tablecloth quickly from under the table settings. Do you think that would work with an electric blanket that happens to be underneath about a 2 ft tall pile of folded clothes?
It will work perfectly, so long as you’re not too particular about whether or not the clothes remain folded.
Whether or not the flowers remain standing is another matter entirely.
Dude, it looks like there may be water aerobics in the street in some places…
Dudette. And I think you’re probably right.
Winds are now down to about 35 MPH before gusts, and the rain has let up. Hopefully the worst is over for us.
AHHHHHH!! FORK THIEF!!!
We had wind and rain and conference call. I texted with Hockey Lady tonight. We’re both Monty Python fans, too. My truck is delayed a day due to Sandy. i have leftover cookies from the tailgate.
Sticks, DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!
Stay safe, Mumpers!
Doggio, according to the intarwebs, women do NOT like Ponty Mython.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you’re being played.
Also, strange women lyin’ about in ponds distributing hockey sticks is no basis for a relationship.
She did hint at repressing me.
Repressing and restraining are two different things.
And one sounds a LOT more fun!
Teh Vunders have survived the night despite having no chawklit chips to make cookies. Current conditions are winds at 15 MPH, light rain, and a temperature of 44 degrees Ammurkin.
HEY!
I’m a woman ::double checking:: yep still a woman and I LOVE Monty Python.
Still raining here but the worst is over.
I hope everyone else is safe.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a rather chilly 45 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 64. It’s just like it’s late October! Oh wait…
Hope everyone’s safe from the storm and the damage is not too bad.
:eek::eek: That’s the scariest story I have ever heard!!!:eek::eek: However did y’all manage to survive! This should be on one of those programs on teevee about how people survive terrible, awful, icky stuff!
Tao butter and only butter should be used in cookie bakin’. Well, sugar and stuff that makes cookies, well, cookies but margarine never! Let this be a lesson.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy is growlin’ at me. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Good morning! According to the Channel 7 news, my little neighborhood got 8.5" of rain yesterday. Squish, squish, squish. I was trying to figure out where they might have put a weather station - it’s not like Helen, MD is a teeming metropolis. Heck, they even shut down our post office!! I’m guessing it’s probably at the middle school which is maybe a mile from my house.
Anyway, no power outages, no problems, except our furnace doesn’t seem to be working. It was down to 64° in the house this morning and it was supposed to be 67°. There was no time to futz with it, but I’ll see what’s what when we get home. Fortunately, we have a service contract, so there’s that.
It’s a little drizzly this morning and a bit breezy, but no biggie. My sis who lives near BWI lost power last night, my sis in east Baltimore was OK, and no one could reach my mom or my sis who lives near mom - they’re in Harford county, which was under the path of the worst of it. Mom was without phone anyway, but without power, she’d be in a pickle. No word on my bro, but he lives just north of Baltimore city - I wouldn’t be surprised if he was blacked out, too.
But it’s back to work with me. And I probably *should *have made cookies because my apple crisp wasn’t all that good. I couldn’t find my old recipe and I don’t much like the new one. Oh well…
Happy Tuesday!
Up caffeinated, and off to irk. My truck is delayed till tomorrow due to Sandy.
MOOOOOOM consider that a lesson learned. Of course you could redeem yourself by goin’ home this evenin’ and makin’ cookies.
Ok, irk ‘puter booted right on up this mornin’. I can’t decide if I should be happy or worry. Thus I don’t know if I should have a celebratory or cautionary cookie right now.
I actually managed to get the blanket out with little fuss at al. When the pile started to fall, I just sort of head-butted it back into place.
Swampy, have two cookies, just in case!
I have made an executive decision. I’m not going to water aerobics. I’ll find something to do, even if it’s marching around the (inside of) the house. I had to go get gas in my mom’s car this morning and it was bitterly cold and nasty.
Glad VBob and** FCM** are ok.
Morning.
Stopped raining.
Now that it’s getting light outside I don’t see a bit of damage other than the neighbor’s tombstones are leaning a bit.
Land lines are back up so off to irk soon. Hopefully make up for yesterday’s laziness. The company told all of us in the path not to worry if we couldn’t log in, but we only get paid if we work anyway.
Looks a bit messy up there. Definately one to tell your grandkids about.
Afternoon, Mumpers! I hope the east coasters made it safely through the night, especially those that had to suffer without cookies!
I am at irk, in fact I’m in charge at the moment because the rest of the team have gone for an important meeting about staffing and role changes or something. I don’t have to go because I’m only here for three more weeks but I suspect it has something to do with the person whose job I’m covering not coming back to the dept and being replaced by someone else. Anyway, they may choose to tell me afterwards what it was all about, or they may not. Either way, I am not concerned.
Off to get weighed at Fat Club tonight, hopefully it will be good news because I’ve been incredibly good this week and I’m even ignoring the plate of muffins on the corner of the desk.
