The election is over, so drop it!

Look you whinging partisan assholes, shut up about the fucking Florida election already! And shut up about Gore winning, too. He may have won, but he damn well won’t become president!

And stop bitching about the Supreme Court decision as if you were Inspector fucking Renault.

“I’m shocked, shocked, to find politics in the Supreme Court.”

Guess what: it’s over. Bush, for better or worse is the President, and no amount of your whiny dribblings will change that.

And gorewonfla, post another dumbass thread like this one again and I’ll do to you whatever nature did to make Warren Christopher look like a fucking Evil Dead monster.

And I’d say the same things if the situations were reversed.

The first personal threat I’ve received. I’m so proud.

Sheesh! Everyone needs to get over it! No need to make threats!

And gorewonfla? Why don’t you find a really cool username like “fecal nugget” or something?

or something vaguely unpronounceble and greek/latin-looking…

Fecal nugget was taken. Sorry :frowning:

gorbie, Why can’t you at least capitalize it or use the correct post office abreviation for Florida. It’s FL, not FLA, remember that.

FL is Florida.
FLA is the Fucknugget Liberation Army.

Glad to see we kept the conversation civil. I think gorewonfla flows better. Wou rather I drew more attention to it by making it all caps? At this point you’re picking the tiniest nits, Mr. Ellis.

Personally, I like to pronounce it (mentally) as gor-uh-wan-fla. Or perhaps as go-rew-onfla. Neither of these includes the factual error that “Gore won Fla.” does.

Well, not until 2004 at a minimum. Re-elect Gore in 2004!

Oh shit, let gorecouldn’tevenwintennessee post his stupid threads. That’s one of the charms about politics–winners govern, and losers get to piss and whine about not getting their way.

I didn’t realize until this thread that it was anything to do with the election. I wsa pronouncing it “gore-wonh-flah”. This is a step up from my initial “gorenwofla” reading, which I thought was another "damn, that name’s taken TOO? Let’s see if these random letters were taken.

Oh. Fuck. They aren’t."

Stupid me, I guess.

I think the thread title is quite applicable here.

I could understand the bitching when the issue was all over the board, but it isn’t now. Bush is president, and if someone wants to dispute the validity of the election, that’s fine.

It’s one thread you could easily avoid, and a username. A name, for heaven’s sake. And this deserves threats?

Geez. Lighten up.

Hey, I’d be the first to admit he ran a crappy campaign. He should’ve run on Clinton’s record. BUT, had all the votes been counted he would’ve won. If they hadn’t used the butterfly ballot, he would’ve won. If cops hadn’t harassed Jacksonville blacks and if Duval county had allowed for more polling places for African-Americans, he would’ve won. However, I rather enjoy hearing Republicans complain about my handle, so let’s turn the subject back to how much you hate me.

The mods have repeatedly stated that making threats strongly qualifies as “acting like a jerk”, which has resulted in banning in the past. FYI.

It’s also the mods who have the power to tell people what to post and what not to. Not the TM. Again, FYI.

My $.02

A. Gore won the popular vote; Bush won the electoral vote. It’s just one of the quirks of our system.

B. Gorewonfla, get over it. The horse ain’t getting up no matter how hard you beat it.

C. While Bush was not my choice, he won and is now my president. I’m a Democrat second, and An American first! Think about caring about your country before your party.

I am not a Democrat nor a Republican, but I am an American,a nd while I acknoweldge Bush as the legal president, I do not acknoweldge him as my president, and nor should anyone who does not believe Bush represents him.

I care for the future of this country. I do not want to see a second cold war. I speak out against Bush because I care for my country. Gorewonfla doesn’t seem to be pointing out the election constantly; it’s just in his nick. If you’re bothered by it, get over it.

There’s no problem with contesting the election either. The people who are doing so just don’t want to see it repeated in 2004. I, however, will spend my political time speaking out against the current president.

Bolding mine.

Notice, “would’ve” not “did”.

Also, haven’t all the votes been counted now, and wasn’t the result that Gore or Bush could have won depending on the standards used?

Not again.

“We must count all the votes.”

First, all the votes were counted, several times. While it was extremely close, G.W. Bush won. I’d have preferred that one of the candidates won by a landslide, but it didn’t work out that way. The attempts at a “Re-vote” would have been laughable except people were serious. Sorry folks, doesn’t work that way.

What the controversy was about was trying to throw invalidated ballots, either ‘undervotes’ or ‘overvotes’ into the Gore column. Florida election law provided that an automatic recount begin in the even of such a close election. A recount was performed, at least twice after the election itself, and Gore lost each time.

Personally, disqualifying 41% of overseas military ballots doesn’t sound like anyone on the Gore side was trying to ‘Count all the votes’ either.

You know, this attitude always cracks me up.

Just for the record, I voted for Nader and don’t really care either way who won. That being said, it’s amusing to watch Bush partisans telling everyone to get over it. You know, like the possible subversion of the democratic process is no big deal or something. And of course they can’t understand why people would think something’s fishy about the whole thing, despite the fact that the person administering the Florida election and the Supreme Court were practically in Dubya’s back pocket.

But if Gore steals one in 2004, I’m sure they’ll be okay with it…after all, we should all just get over it and move on.

That was because they were postmarked past the date they were due, and therefore could’ve been fraudulent and/or tainted. But as I’ve reiterated, THIS THREAD IS ABOUT HATING ME!
