OK, a bit more time to post now. First off, hugs to all sickies and relatives of sickies.
And, too late, but worth noting anyway: The moistestest turkey, in my experience, is one that is cooked low and slow overnight. You put whatever seasonings on that you like, then pop it in the oven at 300F for an hour, then turn it down to (I think) 180 - about 10° above what you want the final internal temp to be. Depending upon the size of the bird, it takes from 10-14 hours, but it’s yum and moist and and wonderful.
Our turkey feast was on Monday at the middle brother’s house. We’d never been there - it’s about 100 miles from Ocala, so it was a looooooooooong day. But it was a nice visit. SIL was very excited - about 15 years ago, she’d had to sell her mother’s dining room set and she’d always regretted it. She did write back to the woman she’d sold it to and said she’d like first shot if the woman ever wanted to sell it again. Well, the woman died and her daughter didn’t want to use it, and she knew about the letter, so she contacted SIL and sold it back to her. It’s a beautiful set of workmanship made in Belgium a long time ago. And it was in perfect shape.
On Tues, we showed up at the hospital around 9 as told, but MIL didn’t go into surgery till 3-ish. We talked to the doctor about 6:30, learned all went well, then **FCD **and I went home, exhausted. FIL and youngest BIL followed about 3 hours later once she was settled in her room. They had her up and around on Weds, and she was back at the house about 4:30 that afternoon - less than 24 hours after surgery! It’s amazing. Today will probably be her worst day, but she said already, the pain in her legs is gone. Mainly she’s dealing with the pain from the surgical site.
She was doing fine on Thurs morning, so we split about 10:30. Like I said earlier, there was no traffic, and we made such good time, we decided it’d be dumb to stop only 2 or 3 hours from home, so we drove on and got here about 11:30. Huzzah for sleeping in my own bed!!
This morning, daughter and friends are in DC, probably freezing their butts off. My sweetie and I went out to breakfast, then to his favorite fish store. We came home with a lion fish. It’s going to be turned loose in the tank shortly. I’ll try to get some pics.
My plans for today - knitting. Maybe tidying my studio. Maybe not. I’m still pretty pooped. It’s very windy and the ground is soggy, so I can’t tend to all the accumulated leaves. It’s supposed to stay dry all weekend, so maybe by Sunday afternoon, I can run the mulcher/vac and clean up the yard. Maybe…
Oh, and I loved the Muppet Rhapsody!
Off to forage for leftovers.

I’m looking forward to cocktail time for a hair of the dog, to tell you the truth.
Ok, not too sad, though I wanted to go up to visit, it’s mucho extra monies which is good.
