Hah. Actually I’m not too bad this morning, considering how utterly and completely trashed I was last night. For some reason my drunkeness didn’t really hit me until I got back home - I woke up this morning to find I’d put my pjs on backwards.
gt, my philosophy always was, curfews are made to be broken. (Seriously, during my freshman year in college my parents made me come home before 11. I dunno how I survived.)
rigs did you just call rosie demented? I’m sure she’ll be flattered at such a fine compliment.
There’s a soiree at the swampcave tonight. Don’t think I’ve mentioned that yet. Anyway, I par-grilled (it’s a cooking term!) a bunch of country style ribs this mawnin’ and now they’re in crock pots simmerin’ away. Later some Jack Daniel’s BBQ Sauce[sup]TM[/sup] shall be added to ‘em. I’ve also made my world famous confetti coleslaw. It’s a difficult recipe. Shred up some green and purple cabbage, shred some carrots, shred some onion, toss in a palmful of celery seed and dump a bottle of sweet and sour salad dressing over everything. Mix well and chill. Later I will make baked beans (another really complicated recipe that involves dressin’ up canned baked beans) and simmer them in my small roaster oven. Ima make a crab dip and some warm atrichoke dip too. Got pita chips to serve with those. I’ll toast some good crusty bread just before we dine. I’m not even turning on my big oven to do any of this. I like that. Oh, and a friend is bringing homemade German chocolate cake for dessert. ::drool:: The wine (bought last night) is chillin’ in the beerator. ACBG has gone to pick us up a burger and fries. After I consume that I think I shall nap so I shall be all refreshed to entertain this evening. A host should be well rested so that he (or she) will be up to the task of entertaining his (or her) guests I say. Plus it’s Saturday and I want a nap.
I’m with Haze this morning, if you catch my drift…
The Kid sleeps upstairs waiting for me to start making french toast and thiiiiiick bacon for breakfast. I’m dropping her off at work this afternoon. The reason for this, is that tonight, at 12:00 AM, she turns 21!!!
She works retail, selling Fine Jewelry (hang your pinkie when you say that) for a retail Giant at the Maul. So, we’ve arranged to be at the sports bar right there, and at 12, I’ll run across the parking lot to get her so she can buy her old man a drink.
This also explains the ‘sleeping late’ today. if I have to be up with her until she closes her first bar (legally), I’m starting the day late.
well, I have that proto-date tonight - it’s noon now, in about an hour or less I will start going thru my closet trying to figure out what best hides the bulk of my bulk. and put just enough make up so it looks like I’m not wearing any. Oy! with a capital “oy”! I have not gone thru this since high school.
Afternoon all! I just got up a little while ago. I was up till 4 last night for some odd reason. Today is work, work, work, followed by 2 days off in a row.
Happy Anniversary Fairy Chat Parents! My parents have been married for 37 years, and have assured me I am legitamate(Were there questions? :dubious: )
Haze, Sounds like one of those “I’m not as think as you drunk I am” nights.
rosie, um, interesting dream. Sounds like you were having whatever Haze had last night.
<sniff sniff> Back from my last ceramics class at Maryland Hall. I almost cried when I was talking to Tina. But I have her email and she promised to stay in touch, so that’s cool. I brought home 8 pieces (pics to be posted eventually) and I’ve got 6 more plus a tile to pick up next week or the week after.
**FCD ** was going to do all kinds of stuff while I was gone, but he pretty much was a bum, so nothing got done. Which is fine - I don’t care. But we’ve got to make a trash run and I have a few things to do before we go out for our anniversary dinner. So I guess I better get to work…
well, I’m off - ask me the last time I put on pantyhose -!!!I am trying real hard to look like this isn’t a big deal - think positive thoughts in my direction at about 4pm EST
I am so nervous. <shuddery sigh>
Why is everyone talking so loudly? -mumbles to herself from under her blankets-
I’m trying to decide whether I want to go ice skating or to a party tonight. Neither would be conducive to getting rid of this cough, I suppose, but damnit, it’s my first free weekend in God knows how long. I wanna have fun!
We’ll be heading off soon so the son can paintball.
My STOOPIT HANDLE broke on my washing machine door. This washer is brand friggin’ new! We’ll have to order a new handle now.
Sounds like everyone is very busy today.
Rosie, enjoy your proto-date. Here’s hoping the Fairy Chats enjoy their dinner.
Haze, I’m glad your head didn’t fall off. Hangovers are never fun.
I’m sure there’s much more to say, but I’m trying to rush because I need to get in the shower and cleaned up.
Today will be busy for me; stop to see if we can just BUY new handle for the washing machine; take son paintballing; stop at the liquor store, get cleaned up again, make sure the kids have din-din, go to neighbors house for 99 party. There’s other stuff between there, but that’s all I can think of for now.
It’s loud in here cuz we want to make sure you young’uns can hear us old geezers, Haze.
French toast casserole was a big hit, FCM. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I wound up making it with cinnamon swirl bread because I was buying bread at Target. Worked out very nicely. I cut the bread diagonally and kind of layered it. Put pecans on top too.
Got a couple of requests for the recipe. Also, we had lots of fun.
Now I need to do more cleaning and decorating. And maybe my Christmas cards.
I’m all rested now. The beans are simmerin’ away and smell awesome. I like to sloooooow cook 'em for at least four hours. Just does sump’n to the flavor. I jazz up canned baked beans with some crumbled up bacon, a little mustard and ketchup, some brown sugar and molasses. They always turn out tres nummy.
Haze go to the party. I say that cause I can’t ice skate so that’s what I’d do.
Have fun on the proto-date rosie. He’ll be properly wowed and awed, I just know it. He’ll be awestruck just to be in your very presence. Why wouldn’t he be after all.
Taters well, now, that just sucks. Washin’ machine handles ain’t supposed to do that! Somehow though, I don’t imagine you’ll just be able to run in and buy a handle. Stuff like that there is never that easy.
swampsteroo - that is almost exactly my ‘doctoring the canned beans’ recipe, except I don’t do the mustard. Great minds…
I was at the grocery this morning, looking for something for dinner tomorrow, and got inspired by all this bean talk and so I’m running a pot myself tomorrow. A picked up a pork loin roast to slow cook and make into pulled pork for sandwiches, some cole slaw and the beans.
Oh, and ice cream for dessert.
I keep thinking this all day today: 21 years. My Kid will be 21. I always wanted an adult kid, and legally at least, I’m gonna have one now. She’s a great kid, and I will persist in calling her The Kid, but she really hasn’t been one for a few years now.
Haze, is the skating on the rink on the Midway? I’d do that, just because I like skating, and it is supposed to be milder around here tonight.
Mama Tiger wants me to say hi to you guys; she’s across the country at the moment, and I’m staying at their place for awhile.
I haven’t wanted to post about it, but this is as good a place as any: my 2 1/2 year relationship has fallen apart. So I’m staying up here for a bit to job hunt and look for a place to live. I am also dogsitting, since the ParentalTigers are out of town. The dogs are being absolute sweethearts. I couldn’t have better company right now, seeing as how I feel.
That being said, they are being really, really, really, really good boys. I ran a few errands today (silly them, they’re letting me use one of their cars…actually, it’s going fine, it’s just that my own car has hand controls so it was a little odd to go back to the pedals) and got home to two Happy Pups and took them outside and threw Isaac’s Kong for him until he didn’t want to run any more, and now have two most contented canines on the floor next to me. They didn’t even wake me up early this morning. Good boys!
TigerBunny, sorry about your breakup, but I promise you, it gets better. I expect most of us have been thru it more than we care to share. But it’s a scientific fact that pups speed the healing. No, really it is - you can look it up!
When your mom gets back, we need to do lunch or something.
Chore summary - dishwasher emptied, carpets vacuumed, garbage and recyclables disposed of, plants watered and pruned as necessary. I need to take Bernie out for her afternoon walk, then get cleaned up for dinner. We should probably feed the critters before we leave.
As for tomorrow - laundry for sure, and probably Christmas cards - I only send a few out anyway. I may make some nanner bread, too. And maybe some other stuff - we shall see.
whiterabbit, I’m sorry. Breakin’ up a relationship is tough. You got good ‘rents though and good doggies to help you get through stuff. Here’s wishin’ you luck on the job search and just know us cool kids will always be here for ya. Tell Mama and Papa Tigs we said hello when you talk to 'em.
