The end of an era – a reflective MMP

Back from Mass and walking the dog to the greenway and back.

gt, yup, I’ll come up with something. Or have the cat walk across the keyboard, whichever looks more interesting.

Well, last night was not a pretty hockey game. We lost in Huntsville 4-1, and two of our players were involved in fights. There was no security at the tunnel when they were leaving the ice, and a drunken fan grabbed one of them. He’s going to get at least 20 games for going after the stupid fan (who is insane enough to grab a hockey who has just been kicked out of a game for fighting?) and another 10 games for leaving the bench to fight. That is pretty much the rest of the season. I like both of these guys personally - I just had dinner with one of them Tuesday night - but I sincerely hope Coach puts them on a plane for Canada. They are brothers and have a really bad habit of “taking up” for each other. You simply can’t do that in hockey. We have to play with a short bench for 3 games before Coach can replace them. And we are facing the first and second place teams next weekend. Great job, guys.

Huntsville really needs to work on their security. There is a bar at that end of the ice, and no security. Our player should not have touched the guy - but the guy should not have touched him, either. Adding insult to injury, the fan didn’t even get ejected from the game. He did agree not to press charges if our player recieved a league suspension for his actions. He told the arena personnel he didn’t touch our player but only said something to him. The few of our fans who were there say him grab our player. I have no idea if that area was on tape or not. Sad day for our hockey team. I hope JB made those two goons walk back from Huntsville.

And to top it all off, Connor got a high stick in the face and had to leave the game to go get stitched up. I don’t know how bad it is yet. And the ref didn’t even call a penalty on the guy who cut him.

Mr. SCL has gone to put Christmas flowers on the graves of the parents, grandparents and sister and brother in law. I am trying to get up the energy to go do laundry.

There was a gecko (lizard) in the bedroom this morning! I don’t know how he got in, but I guess he wanted to get out of the cold. I just left him alone.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Did the gecko try to sell you car insurance SCL?

I have lizards who live on my back porch. I don’t know what they do when it’s cold cause I don’t see 'em when it’s cold. I’ve always wondered if they go up under the deck since deck is only about eight inches off the ground. It might be a place that’d be all cozy for lizards.

Nuttin’ much to report here. I went to church, had lunch and a nap. ACBG is at his place doin’ laundry. He said sump’n about Logan’s Roadhouse later this afternoon, which would be good. I like throwin’ peanut shells on the floor. I could do some ironing but somehow, I don’t think that’ll happen.

I’m back! Didja miss me? Silly question, of course you did. Now, a number of items I need to address.

  1. Happy Anniversary to the FairyChats! May you have many more!

2a) Good on Haze for finishing papers!

2b) (or not) Yay for rosie’s protodate! I hope the rest of them go as well.

  1. My consolations to whitebunny. My advice is to grab a pint of your favorite ice cream, a box of your favorite cookies, then watch a sad movie followed by a comedy. Get it all out, and then make yourself laugh again.

  2. LiLi, aren’t AH and QD married yet? What’s going on there?

  3. SCL, sorry about the hockey shenanigans. Hopefully at least everyone will come away a little wiser for the wear. Also, I’ve decided that my future pets will comprise a cat and a cute lil lizard.

  4. I have it on good authority that Billie Jean is not Michael Jackson’s lover.

Yawn.

Tired.

We were out late, getting the Kid legally drunk. Her mom and I go to the place about 11:30, set things up with the doorman and the waitress, so when she came in a minor fuss was made over “happy birthday-ing” her.

The waitress rinsed out the shot glass she did her first Jameson’s out of and gave it to her.

Today consists of watching the pork roast in the crockpot, catching up on my reading, and lots of nothing much.

Which, I believe Sunday is supposed to consist of.

Third load in the washer. Nanner bread in the oven. Relaxation after a slight, um, concern??

We smelled something funny when the furnace came on, and a trip downstairs led us to believe it’s heating oil. But there’s no apparent leak, and the furnace seems to be working OK. I’ll call the company tomorrow - maybe it needs an adjustment or something.

oooo - a week from today, my baby comes home! YAAY!!

I have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING today. I slept until nearly 10:00 a.m.

We didn’t get home from our neighbor’s to-do until nearly 3:00 a.m, though. We had a great time last night, even though we didn’t win any of the hands of 99. Oh well, can’t win all the time, right?

I really need to get cleaned up. I need to go the store; I need to clean, I need to finish putting out the cursed Christmas decorations.

My son and his pal had a blast at the paintball field yesterday. They were muddy, wet, and a little cold, but they didn’t feel it. My son has a bit of welt on his wrist and one on his chest from getting smacked with the paintball pellets. My son is eager to go again. This could turn into a darn expensive little hobby, though.

Well, I should do something. I’ll try to check in again later.

I haven’t done much today either. A load of laundry that is sitting in the dryer waiting for me to hang it up, and I’ve been to the grocery store.

I found a recipe that looks very good - enchilada casserole. I’ll go fix that in a few minutes…

I watched the Texans lose to Vince Young - <sob.>

Laundry is done. Critters and adults have been fed (mmmm - pizza) and the weekend winds down. We’re watching TV and vegging.

In case you’re wondering, Brandy doesn’t like raw onions. No, we didn’t try to force-feed her. One fell on the floor, and she sniffed, then shunned it.

Ooops! Change of plans for today! I forgot that my MIL was coming take us out to dinner. After dinner, she wants to go see the Christmas lights they put up at one of the local parks here.

She’ll be here in less than an hour. I guess she’ll have to close her eyes to the mess here. Dammit! I hate that. I don’t like folks seeing my house messy.

I still have to fix my hair and stuff.

Well, I didn’t really get to participate too much but I did get to watch <snerk>. Actually, since the 3 of them have been having out together for so long, they had a natural conversational rhythm I found hard to get a handle on. Until we talked baseball. Then I was right in the mix.
btw - where are pee’cans? you haven’t answered my last email

BunBlanca, don’t worry about it, it’s not a pre-requesite. Just dive in with whatever. As for earrings, is there a Claire’s in your mall? I LOVE that place (but not their online selection)
I was a slug today - I spent most of the day watching a That Girl marathon

I also did nothing today. I am eating dinner(pasta, chicken and sun dried tomatoes). I may watch a movie later, or surf.

SCL, we have the same problem when Buffalo come to town.

Spats, a cat and a lizard? You might end up with a pile of lizard flavored cat hornk.

Well, Mr. SCL may be unemployed. When they called him last week to verify the schedule for this week, they told him he was working 7a to 7p on Tuesday instead of Wednesday, but neglected to mention he was working Sunday night. So he’s been puttering around the house all day and had a few beers. He just got a call asking why he wasn’t at work yet.

Merry freakin Christmas. And a HoHoHo to go.

Or cat-flavored lizard hornk.

That reminds me - Was there a comet zipping by the other night? (Thursday evening around 4:30pm EST) It didn’t seem like an airplane - it was too high up (unless it was passing over da Guylandt on its way to Boston or somesuch) and it seemed to have a little bit of a tail, so it wasn’t a planet

Who’s on tap for next week, by the way? Was that decided already and I forgot?
I also forgot to mention who else has a first date Wednesday eve - my brother! I guess he’s healing.

Yeah? I woke up at 11. Hah!

I’ve been downloading episodes of Inuyasha and re-watching the entire series all over again. I have most of the series burnt on CD but I left them back home in Seoul, damnit. I also popped over to my friend’s apartment and had lovely warm scones, then stopped by the bookstore to buy two volumes of Sandman.

Life after finals is good.

I am wondering what to do for dinner. Ramen, perhaps.

Sorry about Mr. SCL’s job situation. Any chance they’ll understand?

Also sorry about the hockey mess. I don’t understand why people act like that (either the players or the fans).

I spent a good part of the afternoon running around (not) finding exciting Christmas presents. I think I found something for work friend 1. Still need something for work friend 2. And for people in my department. At least my boss is taken care of. He’s kind of hard to buy for.

Had chicken taquitos from Trader Joe’s for dinner. And cranberry sauce. I think that’s pretty much it. I’m watching The Notebook, which I’ve had borrowed from a friend for ages. It’s pretty good.

Guess I should get ready for tomorrow. Arghhhhhhhhh.

How can it be almost Monday? I want time off after finals too!!!

GT

Well, if you get a Komodo Dragon, that will probably happen.

rosie, that would be me.

The dog just had a sleep howling episode. I hope it wasn’t the “Kill all the humans!” dream again.

Didn’t see your question before I hit submit, rosie. dogb is tomorrow (I see he’s stopped by in the meantime). taxi’s got the 18th because she and KeithT will be back by then and she’ll be able to tell us about the wedding and the honeymoon. I believe the 25th is still free. I think a couple of people mumbled something about the 1st, but no one has committed yet (I don’t think…). I’ll be internet-less on the 25th and part of the day on the 1st (I think).
