The End of the Road...An Island MMP

Donkeybear, have 'em crown prep the tooth–I have one that’s been crownless for many more years than I’m prepared to admit and it still works as a tooth. Once you have something yanked there’s nothing left but really expensive alternatives like a bridge or an implant. I bet you’ll have an easier time getting new insurance carriers (when you get them, in the course of your career) to cover a crown, which is much cheaper than the other two alternatives.

I ordered a whole bunch of books off Amazon by a writer I’d almost forgotten, Russell H. Greenan. I’ve been thinking the grandkid needs to read “It Happened In Boston?” sometime soon but I don’t have a copy. Oh darn the luck… :stuck_out_tongue:

I tired today, had to inventory everything in order to set up QuickBooks. I used to do inventory for a living, I really hate counting things. Especially tiny plastic things. Bleah. I need chocolate and a backrub…

Still awake. Why?

Hope the knees get better quickly, rosie. It sounds like no fun at all!

That sounds like a frustrating experience, bonkeydear. I think you’re being generous in allowing for two neurons.

You can handle it, Flutter.

Hope they figure out the dizzyness soon, doggio.

Off to try to sleep…

GT

I am not caught up at all, and as I had a bit too much wine I won’t be posting much now. Thanks to everyone who liked my OP, and more thanks to the folks who like my puppies. They have grown quite a bit, and are entering the fuzz ball look. I am well pleased with this litter, I may have a puppy or two that I may try to show.

Okay, I need to get to bed. Yes, this is a drunken post, but I am tying had to correct my mistakes. If I miss a few or my grammar has been atrocious, please forgive. I promise to catch up tomorrow.

g’night.

Morning all! I am playing with a database today, my objective is to break it. That’s about as much fun as you get around here.

Howdy all. I am HAWWT! Well, not that kind of hot (okay, yeah, I am that kind of hot, or I used to be, but anyway …), but temperature hot - it’s 106°F/41°C today and kinda hyoomid! And I don’t have an allocated parking space, so when I walked out of the office a couple or three hours ago to go to my interview, I had to walk about a mile to get to where I parked my car. Of course, my car had been parked in the sun for 2 hours (from 8 till 10), so it was like a sauna. Then the trip back after the interview was the same thing in reverse, but with some additional gentle warming by the midday sun! The car had only really cooled down right before I parked! Gahhh - by the time I then walked the mile back to the office, I felt like my shoes were melting and I was about to collapse on the pavement!!!

So, I had my chat with the CEO of the bank (a lovely man, who first worked as a trainee under my FiL’s supervision in the late '70s (freaky!)), then spoke with the CFO, then with the HR manager, and I will be getting an offer letter in the next day or two! w00t!!!

kai, once more - I lurve your cute little puppies! I hope the durnken post doesn’t leave you with a nasty headache in the morning!!!

Flutter, sometimes the hardest part of a new job is believing that you can do it! And you know you can!!!

bonkeydear, I hope you can sort out some kind of fix for your dental woes, and your college funding!

LiLi, I can offer nothing but hugs for your situation {{{{LiLi and Nat}}}}, and offer up some thanks of my own that HRH was (and is, touch wood) a good sleeper! Is there anyone who can take Nat off your hands for a few hours during the day, to at least give you a chance to recharge your batteries?

BooFae, good luck on breaking the database - sounds like fun! Has TK spoken to you yet, or is she still in a big river in Egypt?

Up and caffeinating - heading in to work shortly. One more day, then 4th of July holiday, woo hoo!

Keeping fingers crossed for you, Dotty, good luck.

Happy Thursday, everyone.

Wooooooooooooot, Dotty! Will you get to walk out without much notice or will there be an unfortunate waiting period?

::waves at kai::

Are you out there, SO? (I notice the night shift is SERIOUSLY slacking lately :dubious: )

Up. Semi-awake. Need to go outside and water. It’s supposed to rain today, but dunno when.

Might even get to go home early. Yay!!!

GT

Good Mornin’! Up caffienatin’ and sneezin’. When I sneeze I swear I have to do it at least a dozen times. There… I think that’s the last one. Ahh!

donkeybear I’m sorry but we only allow viewin’ of appreciation by personal invitation. Hope you get the school and dental stuff worked out soon.

Ok, guess I need to brekkificate. Hee! New Word! At about seven thirtyish Ima start mowin’ the front cause it should be dry enough to start. Ol’ y’all know who has even offered to help. Guess that means I’ll have to appreciate him at some point. The sacrifices I make to keep things lookin’ good around da cave.

Oh and kai

HOW’S YOUR HEAD THIS MORNIN’???

If you mean for S.O to mean “Sort Of…” then yes.

I’m reading along, mostly. Just in one of those periods where I’m not in that much of a mood to post. Give it a few days (or a good enough straight line :D) and I’ll probably snap out of it

Good morning all!

Morning shift is here!
Busy day today-- marketing to get stuff for a picnic tomorrow-- I’m making my balck bean, mango, avocado salad-- yummy! And other stuff.

Plus we have fireworks tonight… yes, on the third…

Feeling better about stuff today…

Slightly later morning shift!

Last night was sort of bad, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks for the sympathy. I think Mr. Lissar had a bad night with Nat rolling and bumping against him. I am learning to sleep through it. We’re off to the doctor’s today.

Pie, hope today is better.

kai and Mahna, how are your heads?

swampy, thanks for the advice. Very useful.
Laundry, playing with baby, tidying, cook the pot roast. Anyone got a lot of bright idewas for pork tenderloin? I bought a big package yesterday. Oh, yes- clean the fridge.

Nat sounds like the Littlest Nazgul behind me. He’s practising squealing.

That’s the best bit, GT! I am still in my 90-day probationary period, so I am only required to give one day’s notice!!!   I am so looking forward to seeing the look on the [del]wanker[/del]boss’s face when I tell him that the next day will be my last!!!

LiLi, HRH has passed the squealing stage and seems to like humming the Happy Birthday song, for some strange reason!

It is now 2:40pm, and I have spent precisely 2 hours in the office so far today - not bad, considering my working day started at 8:30am!!! I am a lazy cow and very, extremely, hedonistically unmotivated - geeeeeee, I wonder why??? :stuck_out_tongue:

Somebody please remind me to stay out of the latest pit thread by **scrambledeggs ** about obese women.

Yeah, that pretty much set me off and I’ve forgotten the rest of what I was going to say.

Except, Hooray!!! I get to see TVMan today!!!
Note: I had changed the name of the aforementioned poster to reflect my true opinion of him, but I changed it back realizing that this is not the pit. No actual scrambled eggs were harmed in the making of this post.

Yeah, I put a quick toe into that one and quickly backed away… the OP sounds… young. ahem.

Good morning, mumpers!

I’m off today, yay! I love four day weekends. Today’s schedule includes going to the dentist. Did I tell y’all that when I got my gall bladder out that they chipped my tooth when they intubated me? It’s not a big deal, it’s just kinda rough. I can feel it when I run a fingernail along the edge. And of course, I’m obsessively playing with it with my tongue! Anyway, we’ll see what they can do about smoothing it down. I picture a big 'ol rasp.

Later I’m gonna make gumbo, with chicken and andouille sausage and shrimp. Mmm mmm good!

Have a great day!

Ha ha! I’ve anti-pitted him! Check out my women’s appreciation thread!

Pie– you rock. You are the best!

Blurf.

Head is better (thanks for asking, LiLi), though I ended up sleeping in the spare bedroom lest my frequent hacking coughs keep The Boy up all night. Plus I have a feeling that at some points, I would have been loud enough to be heard by the neighbours… dang semi-detached houses.

Stupid viral sinus thingumabobs. If I’m not better in a couple of days, I suppose I’ll drag my butt to the walk-in clinic and see what they have to say - chances are, they’ll just tell me to drink lots of hot liquids and suck on cough drops, which is exactly what I’ve been doing.

Pie, I wouldn’t pay much attention to scrambledeggs… he’s got the attention span, clarity of thought and social graces of an inquisitive three year old. I’ll file this one away in the Whatever File with his other gem: “Why do only old people like the opera?” (then again, I guess now that I’m 30 I count as “old”, don’t I?).

Dotty, I am never ever ever complaining about the heat here again. Ever.

:breaking out the wet trout:

::smack!::

Snap out of it!

So. . . . read any good books lately?

Jeebers. Busy week.

Let’s see:

Work has been hectic as hell. Everybody catching up from the weekend and the Tuesday holiday I suppose (which for many included Monday as well, lucky bastards.)

Canada Day fireworks, at least from the vantage of my balcony, sucked. Seriously, any that were close enough to photograph (for I like to do that on Canada Day) weren’t useful enough to photograph; basic coloured balls. No pretty sparkly explosions or twirling comets or anything. Just … balls. The really pretty ones were all far away – too far to capture any useful detail even with a 12x zoom lens. Besides, my camera has major trouble focusing at such extreme zooms at night, so … pointless.

And then of course yesterday we had our fun little encounter with Phil, the adventurous racing pigeon.

So, just the rest of today and tomorrow 'til the weekend again. It’s been a short week but it still feels long.

I’m still playing catchup, so I’ll be back after my break.
