The End of the Road...An Island MMP

 Well, at least I’ll never have to worry about suffering from SAD, but I’ll probably also never get a visit from LiLi, the winter-lover!!!

My boss just sent me an email with a big ole pile of documents attached, telling me to review them and do some work. Unfortunately (yeah, right!) I had to respond reminding him (I had told him several weeks back) that I had worked for the other side on the same transaction in my previous office, so I had a conflict of interest! Sorry, can’t help you. F.R.O.!!! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

**Pie ** - I’ll remind you to stay outta there, if you remind me the same.
It may be Thursday, but it’s Firday because the office is closed tomorrow! Yay!
and hopefully they’ll be shooting off the fireworks from the south end of the parking lot so that I’ll be able to see them from my front bedroom window.

Knee still hurts. :frowning: I have resigned myself to the discomfort. My body doesn’t heal like it used to.

(((rosie))). I’m so sorry about your ouches.
I am never, ever visiting you, Dotty. Never. I’m going to go hug an iceberg.
Finally got Nat down for a nap, am eating breakfast and thinking about everything I should be doing instead of Doping. :smack: Brisket in the crock-pot, and I’m eating revoltingly healthy cereal to make up for dinner. It will be beef. And more beef.

Mornin’ all.

I’m at work, but we’re supposed to shut down early today to celebrate American Independance. I shall take my celebration on the road to NYC for tomorrow’s Yankees vs. Red Sox game. It should be a fun and busy day. Back to Boston on Saturday, though.

Had an ache in my chest this morning for a while. I don’t know what to make of it.

Dotti congrats on the new-new job! And, holy crap, that is hot.

donkeybear I are you absolutely sure that your loans are staffords? I never had to fill out an application for any stafford loans. I have both subsidized and unsubsidized. All I had to do for those loans was sign the promissary note. (Stafford loans are Federal Goverment loans that are determined by FAFSA.) I did, however, have to fill out an application for my private loans from Sallie Mae. While I’m not a Student loan expert, I have learned a lot…unfortunately, it’s because I have a lot of student loans. (It was the only way I could finish school.)

Pie creditors suck and so does the pit thread. Props for the other thread though, I read it and shall post in a bit.

Rosie Boo on the knee. :frowning:

We’ll try to oblige…

Morning, all. Apparently there was an evil, evil Attack Squirrel on the fence this morning because the Idiots about barked their fool heads off at the back door. Which is in the room right next to my bedroom. Blergh.

YAY!! for the impending job switch, Dotty! Although BOO! for the heat – I hope you didn’t look like a bedraggled limp dishrag by the time you got to the interview. I have no innate objection to heat, except for the fact that I sweat like there’s no tomorrow, especially around my head, so my hair ends up soaking wet in no time. It’s kind of gross.

Oops, gotta run, got a super-rush job to be done in the next hour. Other hugs, yays, boos as appropriate!

Up and off to work. :frowning:

Mork, Canadians have coloured balls? <snerk>

…waves again, back in the opposite direction…

Is the weekend here yet?

Yard mowed (mown?), shower had, sammich eaten and post mowin’ beerverages consumed. Just thought I’d update. Oh and after mowin’, I hosed the grass off myself and plunged into the pool. AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Now it’s time for a nappy poo. Not a happy poo. I had that earlier.

Later Y’all!

Thanks for sharing there, swampy! You are TOO kind…

Had a scary ass thunderstorm last night with a flash-BOOM right on top of us at 0300, made the fans flicker and freaked out the router–woke me out of a sound sleep squealing. Then it poured rain like the sky tore open. This summer is sure having some weird weather!

Router issues have made me late, so byee!!!

sticks head in

Hi!

Been home in Spain since Saturday night, am now back where my location says. Didn’t get new Nephew pics. Well, got one, but for some reason The Proud Daddy and SiL don’t ever give them to us in digital format, so I can’t share (no scanner at hand).

Did my taxes. No, not last year’s income tax. For some reason, none of the three countries where I lived/was based/whatever last year reckon I need to do my taxes there. The ones where I lived and got paid already got some money off my salary and apparently are happy with that. Whatever. The taxes I did were my VAT for the second trimester and my income tax for this year, for the second trimester; I do it like that cos I’m self-employed and stuff. So now I’m poorer than last Sunday but at least the taxman is happy with me.

The Proud Daddy took my car to its mandatory check last Friday; turns out the check place couldn’t find the serial number . So on Monday I took it to the nearest official store where, after whining that I’d gone there instead of just taking a knife to it myself (yah rite), one of the mechanics opened a flap under the shotgun seat and ta-da, there it was. Phew. Back at the check place, every mechanic there went and took a look, with remarks like “I’d seen it there before, but more proper-like, with a plastic lid and all, not this” “you ought’a go back to the store and tell 'em to fix it”

I’m just happy that my car and my income are both legal.

I’ve read up a bit, but not caught up completely. Positive vibes all around, gratz to Dotty and I must read the OP when I can, but still haven’t.

Okay, I’m back. Why oh why do I say I’ll do these super-rush jobs? It wasn’t difficult. It wasn’t long. It was extremely well-paying. And it only took an hour to do. So what’s the problem? It was about the insanely shoddy work (using formaldehyde-soaked wood  ) done on FEMA trailers for Katrina victims. You know, every time I think I can’t hate FEMA more…

And, of course, the whole thing was made particularly fun by the fact that:

(1) I discovered that I’d never installed my printer on my new computer, and of course I long ago misplaced the CD with the driver on it, so I had to find it online from someplace that didn’t try to spam me with a pile of shit to go along with it;

(2) my FTP program wasn’t installed, so I had to reinstall it, but on a trial basis since I didn’t have time to go dig out the registration key (which is about eight solid lines of random letters and numbers; those folks were serious about not making it easy for anyone to figure it out without paying for their software! I considered copying it down for about .000000125 seconds, then decided that this is what cut and paste were created for :smiley: );

(3) once I got the FTP program up and running, they gave me the wrong login for my folder on their server; so

(4) I had to put my old computer back together quickly so I could find the correct info off of it so I could get the file I needed from their server.

By the time I was done with all that, half my allotted time to get the work done was used up  so I had to really crunch to get it done. And of course the phone rang nonstop the entire time. Not that anybody knew it was a bad time; apparently the universe was just deciding to encourage everyone to add to the insanity.

Anyway, it’s done and turned in, so now I can [del]slack off[/del] slow down a bit for the rest of the day. And, actually, getting the old 'puter back up and running is a Good Thing since there’s stuff I need to get off it in any case. I just used up all my motivation for at least a few hours with all the craziness!

Is it bedtime yet?

Does anybody know the answer to my wedding etiquette question?

I would say Yes, that he should. If he has absolutely no money to do so, I would at the very least make sure he gives the couple a card.

Okay, doctor’s app. in an hour. Everyone cross fingers that Nat will sleep from 2:30-3 so I don’t have a frantic, overtired baby waiting for an hour to see the doctor.

:crosses fingers:

Soo… is Nat asleep yet?

draws the curtains, dims the lights and tiptoes out

Soapy falls asleep…

***McUne ** falls asleep next to Soapy

Dammit dammit dammit. Should have specified “And stays asleep”. Oh, well. Ten minutes sleep and the wishing worked! Magic MMP powers!

Well, don’t let me ruin a good naptime! I’m off to bed.

:: Tiptoes out, singing softly ::

Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetops
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
