Recently I’ve learned of the purported existence of an alien race called the Anunnaki, said to have propagated the earth nearly 300,000 years ago with a hybrid race of beings whose DNA is composed from that of homo-erectus and extra-terrestrials from the planet Niburu, resulting in what we know today as homo-sapiens. The proposed evidence for their existence is: ancient Sumerian texts, the existence of the pyramids and they’re astrological alignments, and other technological feats thought to be beyond the knowledge of the times.
My question: Is there any scientific evidence to support these claims? If not, is there any reason to believe that this scenario is nothing more than a flight of fancy?
The Annunaki were simply a group of Sumerian/Akkadian gods. The “ancient astronaut” theory about them is very recent.
As for the pyramids, they were built by quarrying huge blocks of stone, sliding them along with log rollers, and piling them on top of each other. Well within the reach of a bronze-age civilization, provided it had some very basic non-theoretical mastery of astronomy and mathematics, plus a centralized state strong enough to draft a sizable part of the adult population to work on a public project during the farming off-season.
Yes! It’s all true! I cannot tell you the whole story, for doing so would blast your sanity. It’s too late for me, but you MUST STOP these forbidden inquiries, for your own good. THEY are watching, THEY are lean and athirst!
:dubious:  < add assorted mockery as needed >
No. Besides what BrainGlutton said, you couldn’t produce an alien/Earth hybrid, even given the implausible assumption both worlds used DNA. Their genetic codes would be wildly different.
You might check out how similar our DNA is to our ape cousins, which refutes the notion of our being anything but descended from a common ancestor of chimps and other apes.
There is nothing about the pyramids that can’t be explained by clever engineers and hard work. What astrological alignments are they talking about? It’s not like the Egyptians didn’t look at the stars. Is there anything at all in this speculation that truly points to alien visitation?
And one more thing - humans would have a better chance of crossbreeding with a t urnip than we would with any aliens. In my experience, the people who come up with these ideas know nothing of any aspect of science.
Lemur, please turn off your “death ray”. It could be that Humans and Vulcans share a common ancestor that was closely related to the turnip. Maybe Homo Brassicus seeded the galaxy with their DNA. Maybe the Annunaki are Homo Brassicus.
Actually, we can explain this by use of sophisticated genetic engineering techniques on Vulcan. Sarek would have been able to afford it. All the crosses on TNG though - well we know who to blame for those.
I, on the other hand, am not so hamstrung by fear. I will reveal to you all of the secrets of the mysterious alien colonists in this five-DVD documentary set with accompanying nine-volume hardbound book collection, each of which is available to you at the low-low-low price of six installments of $79.95.
(Why so much? Well, obviously, if it was cheaper, you wouldn’t take it as seriously. It’s expensive because it’s real.)
